What's the best mono black targeted removal spell? Go For The Throat, Tragic Slip, something else?
Got to be Tragic Slip. Kills indestructibles, is one mana, and morbid is quite easy to turn on. Doom Blade gets an honorable mention, or maybe not, since this is such a color-dependent format - it can go either way tbh.

I think Go for the Throat has to be better than Doom Blade. I think your more likely to run into black creatures that need killing than artifact ones. Though of course it's terrible against dedicated artifact decks.

The Meaning of Life: "M-hmm. Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations"
Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!

Yeah, has to be Tragic Slip. It's an easy pick in Aristocrats or go wide, and there aren't a lot of other black removals in the 1~2 mana range that deal with anything short of...there are four creatures with toughness >13. One, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, no instant or sorcery is killing that. And no "destroy" effect is killing Impervious Greatwurm.
Anyway, Terminate was fun as one of the few real answers to Spiritmonger. The Alara art is kinda funny when you consider "turn to dust" is an effect I generally associate with boardwipes, but Disintegrate exists.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Random button actually gave me Doom Blade, but you all already had that discussion. So I asked it for the opposite of black removal, and it spat out this card.

Zedruu: "This deck is not only able to go crazy - it also needs to do so."
Used to be a key card in my very first deck - if I could just get Robe of Mirrors AND Cloak of Mists on my Great Whale, I'd be unstoppable! And I could do it all in one turn thanks to the Whale's untap trigger! It was the only way to race a Bravado-ed Rathi Dragon without getting blown out by Aftershock.
Yeah, so, that was 12 year old Timmy-Hawk. Nowadays, this is simply not worth it. I'd likely be looking at Crab Umbra or Vanishing if for some reason I needed an aura-based blue protection card instead of utilizing good ol' Lightning Greaves.

I've been looking for more cards to protect my creatures lately...and this is not the hidden gem I'm looking for. I'd actually pay 1 more for an equipment that also gives haste and does not go with the creature it shrouds when a wrath happens. Man if such an equipment existed I bet it would be in a ton of decks.
Random button actually gave me Doom Blade, but you all already had that discussion. So I asked it for the opposite of black removal, and it spat out this card.
It (and Alexei's Cloak/Diplomatic Immunity) has come up in my "maybe"-piles a few times, and even ended up in decks.
When three categories are met:
I need to protect my commander, who WILL draw so much hate that mere pair of boots in the deck will not do.
The commander is central to my game plan.
Said game plan does not involve me targeting my own commander with anything.
Damia, Sage of Stone is a good example where I've needed the levels of protection where the shroud-auras start to make sense. For some reason people don't like me churning through hand after hand for value...

Probably the lowest mana cost you can get for this effect, so it might be worth casting on your enchantresses, but other than that the amount of context that this card desires in order to be good is too narrow.
To me the question is really how often the cycling is relevant. Cantripping removal is always neat.
It really depends on your metagame. I have a sense that too often players, especially ones who "aren't good at building decks," simply try to fit too many good-cards or use EDHREC as a crutch. They would never play Slice and Dice. But to be fair, they don't even know the card exists. But to be fair, they don't know it exists because deck lists are homogenized and players won't include Slice and Dice.
This card was constructed playable. In the right meta, this card is definitely playable. Cantripping and non-cast removal is really tight (ala Decree of Pain).
Compared to Decree of Pain's effect: meh. But the name is better.
Hard to believe this is in the same set as Starstorm.
I did play this at one point in time though. Right up until Conflux gave us Volcanic Fallout. Fine card. Would never scoff at a players' decision to play this.
But it also kills Pestilent Spirit; I'd wager it only likes him as a friend.
I like Slice and Dice. Really makes Shake the Foundations look worse, doesn't it? S&D is one of those classic 100 card singleton cards that hasn't necessarily aged well or horribly.
