Surprisingly there are a lot of shamans I could run with this card. I wouldn't consider making a shaman tribal deck, but there are so many that are just plain worth it. Centaur Omenreader is probably my favorite, but the aforementioned Intruder Alarm combo is pretty funny with some shamans that can Tim. Gigantomancer could be easy to cast, then make all your creatures into vanilla Forces (though they keep their own abilities, see Foxfire Oak).
I would particularly note the creatures that remain threats even if they're tapped for mana, such as Blood Seeker and Burning-Tree Shaman.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I imagine there are EDH decks that want redundancy for repeatable Twiddles, often for infinites. I can't imagine there are ones that want redundancy for one-shot ones.
Twiddle is better purely on the basis of having a curious name.
Hidden Strings is better than both for extremely obvious reasons.
hidden strings is really limiting though; it's a sorcery-speed ability. So you can't even tap down a creature before their attack, or blocks, or tapping down a land for mana in their upkeep, and so on.
I've not seen dream's grip before, and i doubt i'll ever see it. It has some upside compared to twiddle though, since you can tap down any permanent, if tapping down an enchantment or PW might come in handy (no idea when that might be relevant).

It's a sorcery. For this type of effect, you really want an instant, since a repeatable tapper during your opponent's upkeep is basically removal.

Strictly better than Twiddle but still wildly unplayable.
Untapping one thing once is not super powerful, and in a world where Dramatic Reversal and Turnabout exist there is very little reason this could ever be run. If you are slingin' spells and want untaps for some reason (U/W Heroic maybe?), you have Cerulean Wisps which cantrips or Triton's Tactics which multi-targets. I'd probably also pay the 1 extra for Refocus or Vizier of Tumbling Sands in such a deck.
Pretty sure beyond Turnabout that Choking Tethers is the only one of these to actually make it into the 99 of one of my decks and only because of a heavy cycling theme.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
I didn't know about this guy. I don't think he's going to be in any competitive lists, but he's a decent rattlesnake and I can see political applications too. Using this to save an opponent's creature from a kill spell can make you a temporary ally.
Redirect is still probably better almost 100% of the time for the "gotcha!" element, but Flectomancr could still be good for redundancy or with creature shenanigans (like copying it with Riku)
I like it a lot. Makes all spot removal bad as long as it's out there since you redirect it to whatever your problem is rather than the caster's problem.
I do not know if showing everyone you have this option is a neat psychological advantage, or if people will just decide to kill this first.
I think they're unlikely to kill it first, unless you're the current threat by a wide margin, or they have nothing worth targeting themselves. Otherwise it's hard to imagine being worth it, since using real removal on it while you have real targets out is 2-for-1ing yourself, with a likely major tempo loss, in a multiplayer game. Seeeeeems bad.
There is some risk they'll hold back on ALL powerful targeted instants/sorceries until it's dead to a board wipe or something, though. It's probably worth making clear that you won't redirect anything that doesn't totally screw you over, just so people will continue using removal normally-ish.

The ability isn't really white or black tho. As much as it does look like it would also be awesome with Sun Titan.

This card has me upset. It's a 2/2 for 4 that's an elf, which feels off. And it's one of those ugly scourge elves. Then it's mana reducing ability doesn't curve out smoothly unless you miss a land drop. And then they wasted that flavor text on this card of all the cards. I don't know if I would hate playing this card blindfolded, but I certainly couldn't stand looking at it.

Tapping one thing is less useless, but still pretty useless. I look to have my tapping effects be repeatable (like Mind Games, Puppeteer, Hand of Binding) or able to multi-tap (Gigadrowse, Blustersquall, Gridlock), Icy Blast, Send to Sleep, Choking Tethers). The problem being that blue gets to bounce for the same rate or better (with stuff like Vapor Snag, Snap, Echoing Truth, Curfew, etc) and that tends to buy you way more tempo than tapping something down would.
Pretty sure beyond Turnabout that Choking Tethers is the only one of these to actually make it into the 99 of one of my decks and only because of a heavy cycling theme.
