First off, let me say that yes, Cradle of the Sun is not Gaea's Cradle. CotS is worse than GC, I know, I know. But I want to know in your opinion, is the price of CotS going to shoot up in price and maybe, just maybe, close to GC?

GMR21=OYS, I know you.
Salt is part of the game. Deal with it.
One major factor for GC having such a high price is that it's on the reserved list, Cradle of the Sun has no such problem. I have no doubt Crafle will eat up a large amount of the set's value, but I don't think it will reach GC prices. Not to mention that even though it's close, it's still not a reprint and loses some power as such.

Growing Rites of Itlimoc will never hit the $280 that Gaea's Cradle is at now. Cradle is at such a premium for three reasons. First, it's on the reserve list, and thus will never be printed again. Second, when it was printed, Urza's Saga had a much lower print rate than Ixalan has now, so even in its heyday there were far fewer Cradles to go around. Third, Cradle isn't just played in Commander, it's played in Legacy as well, which further drives up the demand.
With that being said it will probably stick at the price it is now. Dual-faced cards are rarely reprinted, for a start. Furthermore, the vast majority of decks that would like to play Cradle can probably slot in Growing Rites in stead without too much trouble. That means that demand will be pretty high.
In Ixalan, we have a saying, ¿por qué no los dos? And that's why this won't go down. The hoop is really easy too. (I'm seriously loving Deranged Hermit right now.)

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Since I have the Cradle, I wouldn't mind using both. Playing green in itself is like satisfying the transform requirement ahead of time, the only difficulty is finding the enchantment (compare to finding the Cradle in a land-fetch color).
But, like some have mentioned in the forum, all transforming enchantment in Ixalan are stealthed mana ramp.
Also being mass printed in rare, not mythic is going to make this card much much cheaper. Once the set is officially released expect the Sun Cradle price to tank as many get opened. Id go as low as $8 in a month unless its gets broken somehow and other formats adopt it. Personally dont see that. But hey Cradle-lites for eveyone!
The card is very good. I suspect it'll stick in that 10-18 range and a few years down the road will gradually increase. A day will come when it's one of those $60 commander staples for Green that everyone wishes they got for cheap. Whir of Invention is one such card I expect will be like $20 someday for the same reason.
It's not Cradle but since not enough players play interaction on the opening turns of games, it'll get flipped enough to make a good impression of one. In my opinion where it settles short term does not matter, if you want to play it, then get it when you can. He time you get to have and play it is worth something, you know.

It will never get as high as cradle because it isnt on the reserved list.
In terms of playability, any deck that would benefit from cradle will probably be able to reliably flip growing rites. Certainly not better than cradle but most definitely a worth while inclusion or budget alternative.
