So, I've got a bit of dilemma here. I'm looking to create another EDH deck and I've got a copy of each of these creatures but I'm kinda caught in between them for various reasons:
The Scarab God- The Scarab seems pretty powerful, all things considered. I like the abilities and love the fact that it's Dimir without caring about mill specifically. However, I'm hesitant to go Zombie tribal. Part of that stems from the fact that I've already got a tribal deck in Edgar Markov and the other part is because Zombies a pretty expensive ($$$) as a whole and I'd be starting from scratch. This wouldn't be a deck that gets out together any time soon.
The Scorpion God- I'd never thought I'd see card advantage in Rakdos colors. With that said, this Scorpion God has an interesting mechanic with the added bonus of feeding into Rakdos' typical focus of killing things. It's a truly different from anything I've done but to the point that I don't know if I'll like it or not.
I'm not really considering The Locust God. I just feel like that deck will become linear and oppressive all at the same.
So what I'm asking here is a little insight: What's it like to play these two? What's is it like to play against them? Basically, I just want to here people's experiences around these two commanders before I commit myself to anything.
Honestly I haven't faced any of them yet, so I only have suggestions.
The Scarab god doesn't need full zombie support, just enough to make its abilities relevant. Plus, it can make its own zombies. Fill the rest of the deck with what you want. Specifically, I think the scry is a nice ability to have.
The Scorpion god can pull from a lot of other sets for his ability ( kulrath knight being interesting), but he doesn't quite feed himself like the other can. However, he'd probably be easier to build, and he works with whither, proliferate and infect mechanics (and Hunter of Eyeblights).
I'm leaning on recommending the BR god.

Scarab was a load of fun to play, and you don't need to worry about the zombie tribal elements. My deck was part tribal, part clone, part mill.
Kill everything, bring everything back, and the life loss will come along with it.
One warning, it's very mana intensive.
Scorpion seemed to do alright, but it's missing green. This is a massive disadvantage as there's a tonne of support for -1/-1 counters in G. It didn't seem to get off the ground as quickly as it needs to.
There is one God, and that's Death.
When building an EDH deck there's just one thing we say to the god of death: Not today.
So go Scarab, say not today to all the death!
Personally, I picked The Scarab God. Just a smattering of cards that produce Zombies, plus some steal effects, and some of the more efficient mill thrown in to Zombify your opponent's creatures more frequently. How well it'll do depends on how fast your meta is, and how often board wipes get thrown out.
Any of them could be casual, of course, but I'm working on a casual Locust build and it seems like it's going to be really fun and interactive, where the others seem more competitive. Lots of universal draw effects, lots of token manipulation, and lots of "destroy creatures, put dragons on the field for each creature destroyed" effects (e.g.Day of the Dragons, Dragonshift, Descent of the Dragons, etc). I'm trying to get a few of my friends into EDH, and I'm hoping it'll be a fun interactive way of helping some people out. I know you were referring to a little more competitive, but there it is

Built a fairly decent scorpion god. Total casual commander, has some splashy plays with Black Sun's Zenith and Dragon Arch/Quicksilver Amulet.
Can make a ton of tokens with the right enchantments.
Felt kind of underwhelming but a great deck if playing with budget/precon/newer/casual crowd. Any tuned deck will womp this.
Playing both Scarab and Locust would net you attention, it appears Scorpion would have the least abusive value, at the same time having the best political tool via -1/-1 counters. It doesn't need green to be viable, and you don't need all spells/creatures to be -1/-1 counter related either, just pack your usual Rakdos destruction.
