Hey everyone!

I had a Trostani deck but decided I wanted to streamline the theme of it a little bit. I decided that I wanted the deck to make a bunch of Wurm tokens, specifically. There are a few ways of doing that:

• Armada Wurm
• Advent of the Wurm
• Worldspine Wurm
• Sandwurm Convergence
• Populate + Token Doublers

So, uh, obviously not a lot of options and I'm on a bit of a budget (more than $5 is probably too much). Thankfully there are quite a few good token doublers and even some decent Populate option.

Here's what I would like to ask, what are some ways to abuse things like Armada Wurm? Other than Populate, are there any repeatable token duplicators you know of?

I do plan on running things like Desolation Twin and Giant Adephage as well but ideally I'd like to do as much with the Wurms if I can. I've had a hard time really pinning things down from EDHRec (mostly because Green is my least favorite color and so much card evaluation for green is pretty bad).

There a deck list in the multilayer section by Tev. It's called "Trostani, that not supposed to be a token" and I think you should check it out for ideas. Most importantly, he runs Blade of Selves, Seance and Mirrorpool in order to create tokens from creatures that can then be populated. So you could run more wurms in your deck that do not bring a token themselves and then use those cards to make copies of them. Blade of Selves goes for about €5, Mirrorpool about €0,50 and Seance €0,05 so they are all within your budget. You could also use Mimic Vat to create more tokens, it runs for about €2. While I'm not fond of it because of it's mass exile clause, Dual Nature can also repeatedly make tokens for you (and everybody else, so beware).

Since you're in green, using Mirrorpool is the easiest one to set up, though you will need something to recur it from your graveyard. Ramunap Excavator is within your budget but is not a Wurm, Life from the Loam and Crucible of Worlds would stay in theme but cost €10 and €33 respectively, so are kind of over your budget.

If I search "wurm token" in gatherer (advanced - rules text), I get a bunch of wurm makers. Garruk, Primal Hunter is good. Wurmcalling is good. There are a bunch of good ones.

Also Honored Hydra is pretty wurmy.

Second Harvest?

There are a few other cards to consider - Roar of the Wurm is okay in total. The rest are already mentioned or aren't as strong. Baloth Cage Trap is a little smaller but makes a fairly meaty token. Trostani's Summoner is super strong if you use Parallel Lives, Anointed Procession, Primal Vigor, Doubling Season, and all those effects. Parallel Evolution, Rhys the Redeemed, and Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter are all also sort of kind of repeatable doubling effects.

If we're talking about big tokens, angels and horses are fine additions. (The latter is absolutely lol with Trostani.)
