WizardMN, thanks so much for the explanation and feedback about where to post. This was my first time contributing to these forums, so I will follow your suggestion going forward.
With that said, after further research on the subject, I believe your assessment of Banisher Priest is incorrect. One of the Gatherer rulings on Teferi's Protection is the following:
"Any one-shot effects that are waiting "until [this] leaves the battlefield," such as that of Banishing Light, won't happen when a permanent phases out."
It would appear that Banisher Priest's and Preacher's continuous effects are treated differently when phased out due to the wording "until" vs. "as long as." Would you agree?
Regarding Preacher, I wasn't sure if the phasing out of both creatures would also cause control of the "captured" creature to be returned to its owner at the same time, in which case, the creature would phase in during its owner's untap step, rather than the untap step of the controller of Preacher. Your thoughts?
Or should I just go ahead and post these questions in the Rulings forum as you previously suggested?
I got to use it for the first time last week. I was playing a 5 person game and the person right after me tried to kill my commander. I put up Teferi's Protection and waited it out. The guy right before me ended up swarming with like 30+ dmg and he was coming at me until I reminded him that I couldn't be hurt and he swung at someone else for essentially lethal lol.
It wasn't even that optimal of a Teferi's Protection but even then it was huge just being like set for the whole turn rotation.
Yeah, I saw it for the first time also this weekend. It's way better than I thought it would be. Fog's in the first place are somewhat underrated in casual EDH, but this is a lot better. It seems more aggressive because it's guaranteeing that you're getting one more crack at the game. Almost feels like a Time Stop.

Yea, Time Stop is somewhat of a decent representation. Its really interesting though in that if someone has lethal damage for like the whole table you keep yourself alive and let everyone else die lol. Its an interesting point especially from the standpoint of if you were to say see lethal Craterhoof Behemoth or something.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.

TBH fogs work the same way in this scenario too. Whenever an opponent has a lethal attack and I have I fog I just reveal the card and ask nicely to not attack me. Works 100% of the time.

I also have people that in that situation feel they cannot kill me and suddenly only attack me with that attack. In some metas if someone knows something won't kill me they intentionally don't cull the heard.

Eventually people need to chew through the fog though. It seems weird to me that people let you get away with that. The people that get hit in your place, should want to either stop the thing that is hitting them or open you up to get hit instead. Assuming you are the attacker you should try to force them to use the fog early, over later. Later, your threats should be bigger and much more lethal plus if fog deflection works efficiently the person who holds one will feel a lot less pressure which should result in them having more resources.
Teferi's AFK is one of those cards that my groups like to hit with a counterspell regardless of whether it is a wise idea or not just to see the look on the person's face who was depending upon that card to avoid bad stuff from happening to him or her.

Petty EDH players making plays just to piss people off instead of strategic applications? Yeah, sounds about right.

One thing about me is that I pretty much almost never spite play. This makes me win games that I otherwise probably had no business winning.

I wish there were more players like you then. While I appreciate the group party game aspect of EDH and doing sub-optimal plays for group hilarity, alot of the times it is just stupid and punts the game for everyone just so one player can say UMAD? or "salty" and all that crap. Teferi's Protection is usually not worth a counterspell in your example unless it really will make them lose the game.

i know this has nothing to do with the card itself but my friend just opened a box that had two teferi's protection in it (had a few other extra cards as well but that is besides the point. The store owner told him he should call WotC and my buddy replied "to hell with that"
Two teferi's protection, Annoys me so much. Reminds me of the guy who bought his first MTG booster pack ever and pulled a foil Jace, the mind sculptor.
Hi all, I would like to ask about a certain this regarding Teferi's Protection and an artifact equipment which have imprint,Spellbinder. Would this make me always phase out end of my turn or right after my attack step?
Currently I am using Nazahn Voltron with this cards.

Yes, you 'may' cast the spell each time you hit an opponent in combat while equipped with Spellbinder. It will happen while you are still in combat immediately after they take combat damage. If you were to cast it you will still get your second main phase but all of your stuff will have phased out.

So does that mean that I won't have a second main phase?

You get a second main phase as well as an end step, but all of your things phased out before it begins. You could still for instance play your land for the turn in your second main phase and it will be your only permanent (everything else phased out before you left combat).

Cataclysm will often do the same result. Or Balancing Act
Having this in white is sweet, gives options for Boros to play Protection + any number of disgusting board wipes.
or in other words dont play TP in a meta full of stasis because stuff phases in during untap step.
i like it for my esper control list too. with sensei's divining top topdeck tutors are quite a nice setup.
targets are either forceofwill, STP, Terminus, anguished unmaking, cyclonic rift, necromancy. now TP would add another impactfull dimension to it.
Looks like once Sands of Time is gone, your cards will phase back in.
702.25k If an effect causes a player to skip his or her untap step, the phasing event simply doesn’t occur that turn.

Honestly? Just board wipes in general. Obvious exceptions like Larry's Disk (and when, pray tell, did Child of Alara become Larry instead of Nevinyrral?) exist, but if it's a spell, it's busted as hell.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
and when, pray tell, did Child of Alara become Larry instead of Nevinyrral?
Nevinyrral is Larry Niven (author of the Ringworld series) backwards.
That's my point. It makes calling Child of Alara Larry feel really weird.

I assume it's because it's almost the same effect (pre-planeswalkers, it was the same effect afaik), and it's easier to assign a person's name to a creature than a non-creature artifact (see: Bob, Steve, Gary, Tim, etc.)

Head to rulings please as this is no longer just like the general use of the card and more of specific interactions.
