a) You are going to build a new deck or modify an existing deck around sacrificing it and fetching an infinite combo.
b) You are going to put it into one or more existing decks with few deck changes to make use of it, but no infinite combos.
c) You are going to just drop it into one or more existing decks without any other changes and use it purely for value.
d) You have no interest in playing Protean Hulk because I have no use for it.
e) You won't play Protean Hulk because you or your playgroup wouldn't approve.
Note that this is not the place to rant about the banned list or whether you think Protean Hulk should have been banned or not. That discussion can happen on the official multipler banned list thread. I'm interested more in what the MTGS community intends to do with its newly freed toy...
Sneak Attack into Ashnod's Altar into a gigantic Thromok the Insatiable. And since the Thromok deck damn well packs Hall of the Bandit Lord it's nothing to hit for commander damage on one player right away. I think this is the ideal Commander combo I'm willing to run: Explosively violent but answerable and requiring telegraphed setup.
I'll try it out as a non-combo value creature for a while. After a while I'll probably decide it's not pulling its weight as a 7-drop if I'm not cheating the cost on it and cut it.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
Put it in my Saffi Eriksdotter deck as another combo piece. It and a sac outlet should win me the game through various loops. I'm not going to change the deck at all beyond the one card I drop for it, and it's not going to be the focus of the deck due to its high mana cost, but it gives me another option.
I won't be putting it into my deck as I really don't have any use for it, but I'm certain I'll run into it across the table. For a brief period of time I expect people will build degenerate combos with the card for one reason or another, but after some amount of time has passed I also expect most of that nonsense to dissipate.

WUBRGMr. Bones' Wild RideGRBUW Trap your friends in an endless game with this 23-card combo!
Drop him into my Mayael the Anima deck and go from there. My playgroup plays enough exile that it won't be an issue unless it already normally would have been.
Adding him to my Karador, Ghost Chieftain hatebears deck, instead of Entomb, to fill the tutor slot. I like that it can be recurred with Karador. No other changes to the deck. It's already hatebears. What's one more? But no infinite combos like that. Karador doesn't do infinites.
I'm interested in adding him to Ghave. First death trigger finds Karmic Guide and Viscera Seer. Second death trigger brings in Reveillark or Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. After that you can pull almost all creatures out of your library similar to Boonweaver Giant combo. It's a 7 drop like the giant too. Great to Birthing Pod into or reanimate early game as either one will loop you in.

It's going to slot into my Ravos&Thrasios deck where it'll be huge value. I will cut Viscera Seer out to prevent the combo it could get from being too easy though. It's also going to go into my Selvala deck as a bit of a Wrath resistance, that deck has way less options to abuse it.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I would add it to Karador, Ghost Chieftain for non-combo value. That 7 cmc is kinda bleh though. Hmmm, looking at my decklist now, it might take the place of Wurmcoil Engine, and out of 34 creature, only be unable to find three (Karador obv, Angel of Despair, and Ashen Rider). Wurmcoil was in the deck more as a goodstuff inclusion anyways, and being able to dig through the toolbox is quite nice.
I figure I will put my single copy into my Meren deck, where it will provide strong value but not do any infinite combos or anything like that. It works well with various other aspects of the deck (sac/recursion, Birthing Pod), enough that no other changes are needed for it to provide good value.
I'm tempted to convert my derpy morph tribal Leovold deck into a flash-hulk combo deck out of spite. =/
Get that out of your head Leovold is banned as of today.
I think you misread. Leovold being banned was the point. Lithl was suggesting taking their current Leovold deck (which is now banned) and turning it into a Flash-Hulk deck since Hulk was just unbanned. Basically, trading one "degenerate" card for another and using the recently unbanned card to make the deck more degenerate than they were playing.
I'm going to test Protean Hulk in my Yeva, Nature's Herald deck as a value play. In my head, flashing the Hulk out in response to a board wipe and fetching some combination of recursion/mana acceleration/card advantage seems like it has good game. He also plays well with things like Greater Good, of course, and Yeva likes the highest creature density she can arrange. Not 100% sure which slot I'll test him in yet.
I didn't have the foresight to get hold of a foil one before the hype-spike (although to be fair, I have not ran into one for the longest time either since I don't buy online, only locally, although in inverse again even if I did run into one I doubt I would had the foresight to buy it either). So I'll probably wait for a while for the hype to cool down. While it's a good card for (in-game) value, it isn't an absolute staple of any sort so there's no hurry and likewise, its combo is ultimately just one of many out there (and doesn't even particularly stand out in efficiency, even if it's easier than a few combos).
Not saying I wouldn't get one eventually, I'll just leave it in the air to see if I can get a foil one for a decent price in the future. If I do, it'll probably go into Karador and I would modify the deck to include at least one combo, mainly because my EDH process is build enough to be at least minimally competitive, then play according to the meta/group I'm with.
