I just ordered a few copies of Jeweled Bird to use as proxies for Top. (I own one copy of Top.) Perhaps now I'll be able to get more actual Tops, but I doubt I'll bother unless they drop to $5 or under.
And clearly the mox's from power nine over thron this in vintage due to proxy actually being legal in legacy/vintage
I have no idea what this line is trying to say but Top is definitely going to get cheaper. Legacy demand was a price driver and there's a recent reprint.
You can already find them around $11-12 easily. I'd expect a couple dollars cheaper over the next couple weeks as legacy players unload. While they're never going to be bulk rare[/uncommon] $5-6 isn't entirely out of the question.

Huh?
But yes, it's going to be cheaper, although not bulk rare cheap. Price memory and EDH play will keep that from happening.

"And clearly the Moxes overthrow [I'm thinking Ryperior74 means "overshadow"—Ed.] this in Vintage due to proxies being a thing in Vintage.
Yeah, I'm still lost: While both Top and a Mox (and for that matter, I don't know, Ornithopter) have an obvious place in, e.g., affinity, they don't really fit into the same place as Top. One's library manipulation, one's more like a "free extra land".
Like the rest of you, I expect some drop, but not bulk rare, costs less than a dollar drop. Sorin Markov might be a good precedent: He's really good in formats where you start with more than 20 life and that -3 is a win condition itself, but not really played at all in other formats, and the median price is like, $16 for an M12 Sorin and $17 for a ZEN one.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I only have Top in one deck that really needed it. Now I can think of 2 more decks that can use it well... but I have to wonder if I will start jamming this into decks like Sol Ring.
I have seen the two cards paired in EDH to great effect but I don't know if banning the Top is going to cause a sell-off or shift in the meta with respect to Counterbalance...
Now that Top is banned, can you forsee any reason for a price drop on Counterbalance?
I'm saying like mox ruby see more play than than the top in vintage.
Which is factually correct, yes, but what I'm saying is they occupy a different role. Top is mostly used with "top of the library matters" cards. (Counterbalance, Future Sight, miracles, that sort of thing) It also has a nice side benefit of being an artifact for affinity decks. A Mox or Lotus is good in any Vintage deck, even off-color.
It will probably go down in price, but not as much as you might think. Partially because of Commander.

My assumption is that it will be slow to move down. Its still a very good card for commander and while demand might shift for a little bit its not as if legacy players "need" to offload them suddenly.
I could be wrong, but I suspect the price tag wont actually change much. I would assume that it could slowly go down but overall top is still a ridiculously good card and unless they were to over print it somewhere its probably safe close to where its price tag is now.
It could go down some, but considering where its price is now, I dont expect much.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
According to this the Sensei's Divining Top got banned from legacy
And clearly the mox's from power nine over thron this in vintage due to proxy actually being legal in legacy/vintage
And it's already banned in modern. So this might mean we can get the top for cheaper.

And number two the proxys which are fake versions of the cards are allowed to use in vintage.
You're factually correct, but I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. It's not like they're competing for the same deck slots.
Not more than any other format. Maybe your LGS is lax about it, but you're not allowed to proxy in official tourneys.
