Them: "Okay this is going to make infinite mana and then I will cast my entire hand" Me: "Sure...Show me."
In paper I'd consider this rude and salty behavior, but on MTGO the play clock represents a restriction on deckbuilding that I'm willing to enforce to a certain degree.
Of course it is. But if we're establishing that EDH is primarily a more casual format then I don't want to see your infinite combos anymore than I want to see too much MLD or constant usage of Winter Orb. If we are deciding to play at a more competitive level then I would probably not behave in such a way but to me there is an unspoken rule about at least making your deck have some form of interaction and when someone shows up to the table(online or not) with sunrise eggs or some such then I feel no remorse for making them do exactly what they set out to do. They came to the table to play solitaire with their combo deck and I will gladly sit by and watch, play clock or no.
Yep, this. I seriously don't understand people who do this. The whole point of MTG is to play a strategy game; Possibility Storm turns it into essentially "roll the dice, whoever gets lucky wins."
"
i do not agree.
it is much more like blood moon when used correct.
in my meta there is a maelstrom wanderer deck that can drop this and disrupts all combo decks. some decks like karador do not care that much and can even profit. casting from grave and commandzone doesnt change some. but you can cast a llanowar elves and get a iona, shield of emeria from hand.
the wanderer player can cast a ponder and hit a wildfire or time warp. also wanderer gets his cascades and can outvalue everyone.
so it can be better than blood moon but there might be less decks to get its full potential use.
it can also give the game some quick powerchange if a player has only and handfull of targets and this way can kinda cheat in the mightier card like with a tutor and manacheat. likely as accident only.
example you have mystic remora in hand and your opponent plays PS. if your only other enchantment is omniscience you "tinker" it into play.
I think you're missing the conversation that I was quoting, as I agree that there are times and places where Possibility Storm can be used strategically, but when people throw it in completely random it just takes away the primary objective of Magic: Strategy.

I dunno, people play at all levels of power and making the random guy you just met or a guy you only see once a week go through the operations of an infinite mana loop just so he can play the cards in his hand... we've both got better things to do, next game, and I'll swap out to a slightly meaner deck to balance out the gameplay. Spend less time losing that way. Feels less crappy.
Sitting and waiting in order to prove to them that you are Holier than Thou just isn't my cuppah anymore.
While I understand Mind Slaver effects are quite tilting, I don't understand the issue with people controlling your stuff or searching your library. It may leave you surprised, but one shouldn't be annoyed to the point of being angry. That's kinda immature and shows the lack of magic playing experience IMO. Besides, you're the ones putting threatening stuff in your deck, so what better way to answer it by using it against you?
This is why one should run things like Homeward path, or have some form of counter for steal-ly effects. Stealing effects in Magic are the norm and should be treated as such.
I also feel some may take it too personally when someone takes your stuff, but you'll better manage your emotions if you just play more. Playing more will help you cope. Coping also has to do with how your deck adapts, and small changes might be required. Especially if your deck/gameplan absolutely crumbles to that.
You got a flaw in your Death Star. But you can identify it and fix it. Or at least mitigate the effects.
Tooth and Nail and Cyclonic Rift are cards that irk me. I don't like it when a single spell generates such an overwhelming advantage. Games usually end on the spot when they are cast.
Only if none of the other players play reasonable decks.

Cyclonic Rift. If youre playing blue then youre probably running it. It should essentially read "If its not your turn you win. If it is your turn you dont loose." Definitely banable.
After that is Rhystic study and some of the Theros gods like Xenagod and Purphoros. Rhystic gives such a massive advantage because people rarely pay the tax and the latter two are so hard to interact with and give such a significant advantage in decks that want them that its hard to come back from.

Right... thanks for the insult.
Boo me because I don't play countermagic. Or do you mean something else by reasonable?
Also, Rhystic Study? It usually gets destroyed, or the game ends before it matters. If they draw 3 or fewer cards, it's on par with efficient card draw. Of course, I have been in games where people have drawn 10+ cards off of it, but those were usually games where the controller was out of contention. Most recently, due to a Torpor Orb and Static Orb shutting down the deck.
Rhystic Study isn't a draw spell. It's a tax spell. It makes all your opponent's spells cost an extra mana. Which isn't bad for a three mana enchantment.
But it is bloody annoying to be constantly asked "do you pay one?" why is why I tend to agree it's not a fun card to play against.
General Tazri. When I see him on the board, I know it's not going to be a fun day.
Kind of surprised over the hate on Cyclonic Rift, though I and any others that play it don't usually do EoT rifts, so that might be why. But like anything else, if you don't have answers for it...you're gonna get hit sooner or later.
Not surprised to see Rhystic Study either...and for that same reason. What's even worse in the games I see it is that any permanent removal is diverted to other 'threats', because paying 1 isn't considered to be a big deal...even after we forget(oh well, they get a card).
Scrambleverse can blow me. Has nothing to do with the effect, or even that it's a chaotic card, I simply can't stand spending a half hour resolving a single spell that likely doesn't end the game.
Along the same lines, but with less venom, I groan when I see Cathars' Crusade. In many decks where it's the most powerful it's also the worst kind of bookkeeping card.

The only time I've ever seen it matter was when I was able to cast Mind Grind for 16 with it on the field and effective.
C.Rift falls into the "the game becomes unfun because of this card and should be considered for banning" category, I think.
I don't like to face Linvala, but when I know it is a possibility to see her, I remember she is easy to kill.
I hate facing Iona because she can ruin a whole deck. That's no fun.
Possibility Storm is an awesome card for more creature focused decks because it disrupts people sculpting hands, it is awesome for people with really powerful commander synergy Ruric Thar, the Unbowed anyone, and is amazing combo engine / protection. I rarely see the card but when I do it is for VERY specific reasons.

I can get on board with this train because whenever I play Study and it isn't destroyed it typically propels me ahead so much it is ludicrous. It is also unassuming enough that people don't gun for it.
Boo me because I don't play countermagic. Or do you mean something else by reasonable?
I mean you should play countermagic or other forms of interaction/disruption. If a 9 mana spell resolves don't be surprised it instantly leads to the player winning.
To me expropriate is way worse in that regard since they don't get to win off it immediately. Thinking about it I should probably take it out of my Narset deck, it's just not a fun card. Needed room for homeward path anyways.
So, if I play a non-blue deck, I'm playing an unreasonable deck?
Blue is the only color that can interact with Cyclonic Rift. Or do you think Thoughtseize is good enough for multiplayer commander? EoT Cyclonic Rift just ends the game. There is nothing anybody can do. Sorcery speed comparisons are fine. Symmetrical Instant-speed cards are fine too. But this card gets rid of everything you've built throughout the game, then asks you to discard to hand size.
If you are keeping instant-speed removal up, you can stop many Tooth and Nail Wins, but not all of them.
Your attitude that a 9 mana spell should win the game on the spot is kinda frustrating. I have played games where one player did nothing but ramp for 4 turns, played Tooth and Nail, and won the game. He didn't even know how his combo worked, he just put the package in his deck despite the fact it had no synergy with anything else he was doing. No skill, no interesting deckbuilding... the player didn't even interact with anyone.
I have played games where there was a ton of interaction, grindy game, then someone drew T&N, beat the three other decks right away.
No other 9 mana spells win the game on the spot like that. Expropriate can be good, but gaining control of 3 permanents and taking an extra turn doesn't allow you to beat everyone on the spot. They still have a chance of getting back in the game.
The only other card I know that wins the game on the spot is Primal Surge. And, it only wins on the spot in a deck with no instants or sorceries, which is a HUGE concession.

I can't recall the name of it, but a guy's Chaos deck ran some Enchantment where any time a permanent entered the battlefield under your control, you choose an opponent at random and they gain control of it. Other than various mass land destruction spells, that Enchantment has to be the card I absolutely hated playing against more than anything else.
As an aside, the Cyclonic Rift hate really cracks me up. It's the sole reason Sigarda, Host of Herons/Uril, the Miststalker/Zur the Enchanter aren't the #1 boogeymen anymore. People especially bemoaned Sigarda being too hard to kill and being too dominant. There were plenty of ways to get around any of those three, but Cyclonic Rift was the answer to everyone's prayers who complained about dying to Voltron that made the big scaries go away. Leovold and Paradox Engine are the boogeymen now so everyone has forgotten that, but Cyclonic Rift has been a boon to keeping the format balance in check and stopping absurd board states
Probably Cycrift gets the hate for the same reason Posistorm gets it: everyone who can fit it in their deck is doing so.
Unlike Posi, Cyc is worthwhile in that regard: non-targeting(if you overload), and gets around anti-sac measures like Sigarda. Sure, it seems to be run just for the lolz, but I agree with Xenphire that it's an answer to some serious threats. You can hate on it all you want, but when it saves your bacon(and unless you absolutely detest blue, it's a possibility), you'll be glad you have it. Sure, there's other cards that can do better/worse, but Cycrift is the current accessible one right now, so plan for it, or take a deep breath and rebuild.

Fair but just because you don't see some cards doesn't mean that they aren't threats. A lot of cards from Visions get no play but you can break the game with commons at times. It's also a subjective forum, so my opinion of a card I don't like seeing is Bloodchief Ascension. By all accounts, every card, literally every card, in the game has an answer, but in a format of 100 single cards having said answer may not always allow for cards to be answered.
P.S. Also Oona doesn't really let the cards hit the graveyard so it's value with that commander, is quite low IMO. And those running Nekusar without BA is in league, again IMO, with not having Waste Not in those decks.

There are probably a lot of them. I wonder why people still get Mike and Trike.
Those are not the typical reasons and tenor people bring up Tooth & Nail as a candidate for banning, at least I find the thing people find more annoying with it is when it finds things that can win from nothing, and a lot of those are very specific things that require more set up than just I cast Tooth and Nail.
The Ezuri or Animar examples are good ones of this where when during the turn people decide to cast T&N and what else they have on board determines how much danger I put in what they could pull out.

(Also known as Xenphire)
Unlike Posi, Cyc is worthwhile in that regard: non-targeting(if you overload), and gets around anti-sac measures like Sigarda. Sure, it seems to be run just for the lolz, but I agree with Xenphire that it's an answer to some serious threats. You can hate on it all you want, but when it saves your bacon(and unless you absolutely detest blue, it's a possibility), you'll be glad you have it. Sure, there's other cards that can do better/worse, but Cycrift is the current accessible one right now, so plan for it, or take a deep breath and rebuild.

P.S. Also Oona doesn't really let the cards hit the graveyard so it's value with that commander, is quite low IMO. And those running Nekusar without BA is in league, again IMO, with not having Waste Not in those decks.
