Could this guy be built like a Narset creatureless deck? I know that Narset has hexproof and triggers easily but this guy could cascade into extra combat steps/turns and kill by commander damage / planeswalker ultis
Could possibly build it like that, but narset rewards you for specifically avoiding creature spells while doing that with yidris provides no benefit that I can see, his effect and cascade itself work equally well with all kinds of spells. No reason to limit yourself for no benefit

Honestly he could be built either as a narset or an animar style deck. Because as long as he connects you get value.

With no creatures you can stack your deck with proteus staff.
i think yidris wouldn't be good as a narset style deck because he doesnt get the value as soon as he attacks. Beening a 5-4 trampler isnt good enough for that

That's my main concern, but Ydris can kill more easily with commander damage since he has a decent body.

yes but he has not hexproof or haste. 5/4 body is good, but if you don't give him boots, he won't survive a round. Giving him double strike makes you cascade twice each spell, so enemies would be stupid to let him do that.
So that means you need to pack things in the deck to help and support him, as boots, some unblockable things, something that gives multiple combat. But I think that these are not the things you want to cascade into..
As soon as Yidris attacks, you will be target number one. Once your oppnent see's how broken yidris is they will try to keep him off the board. Thats why im going to try to keep burgeoning as my only one drop to get super value out of it.
first draft for the decklist. questions, concerns, comments? the land base will consist of the standard assortment of shocks fetches and other fun stuff i have laying around
Ive decided im going to stick to everyones big good stuff deck with lurking predators because getting cards for free is always fun. Plus Omni and Enter the win(infinite)
I just realized that if have 2 1 cmc spells (one in gy), 0 cmc spell in gy and something like Epitaph Golem you can cast the 0 cmc spell as many times as you like.
1. Cast brainstorm
2. In response to cascade put Wheel of Fate and then ponder bottom of you library.
3. Resolve wheel and bs.
4. rinse and repeat
A good idea is also to include something like elixir of immortality to this combo so you don't deck yourself. You can also incorporate hypergenesis to this and then you can pretty much play your entire deck (-intants, sorceries and planeswalkers).
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet, but I really like Rakdos, Lord of Riots in the deck.
Doubles down on Yidris' strengths without being too win more. Also, his requirement is pretty trivial in a deck that want to be smacking face lots anyway. Biggest problem is, of course, that BBRR

I just **** my pants when you mentioned him. Yidris is going to become super competitive with him and tutors! With animar you can basically cascade the whole deck

I've actually been brewing this and can't wait for the 11th for this exact reason.
I'm also wondering why no one's mentioned our two favorite people from Trest Edric and Leovold.
Seriously, considering how much face punching Yidris is going to want to do, Edric will really help out a lot. He's also a low CMC making him easy on the resources to cast or cascade into. He's also good if you know that you've got some cards coming up that you can't cascade into but still want to have or just need to get them out of the way. Yidris with Edric will just let you keep them in hand.
Leovold has many of the same qualities as Edric but he's focused in another direction. He'll slow your opponents down as you speed up. In addition, as Yidris will be a target, Leovold will at least net you some return value if he's taken out. Also, before anyone says that will make you a target, if you're playing Yidris, you were kind of one already.

[/card] synergy
I can't believe I didn't think of this
Rakdos seems like a great card in this deck, especially since cascading into him is ezpz. Actually casting him shouldn't be a problem if you have the big bucks manabase, even if it is really restrictive.
Playing dumb stuff like Woodfall Primus for after cascading into Rakdos from hitting with Yidris, while Magical-Christmas-Land sounding is too good to not try.
How about Sakiko, Mother of Summer. At worst the effect is a less restrictive version of rackdos, the body isn't as good but having another copy of that ability seems worth it

It definitely has potential. Some might not run it but other would. Shoot, I'm considering right now. She gives mana for every damage dealt by a creature you control...
The amount of mana that can generate plus things like Rakdos and Animar in a heavier creature build.
So we have Rakdos, animar, sakiko, wood fall as good honorable mentions to be put in yidris. What about Genesis wave in a creature heavy deck version?
With all the deck manipulation? I could see it. It takes a decent bit of mana to really get a lot out of it but it could still work. My only question is how it would cascade? X = 0, I know, but I remember something about the rules and additional costs...can't recall it ATM.
I don't like Sakiki nearly as much as I do Rakdos, personally. Sakiko is a 6 mana 3/3 with no evasion. Not only is it harder to cast into, but she dies to everything, and can't even reliably swing in for damage herself. The ability is much worse than Rakdos in comparison too, since it doesn't apply a cost reduction and only adds mana to your pool, she doesn't offer nearly as good best case scanario, and worst case she's even worse. Additional effects are good, but Sakiko would not make the cut in my deck, personally.
Same with Animar. He's much better, but simply too slow to accrue counters unless you run ALL creatures, and he's not super great unless you run creatures that are specifically good with him (Man-o'-War and friends).
Of course they are certainly viable options, but Rakdos really seems like the best guy for the job in this department. I don't personally think this is an effect I would want redundancy for.
On another note, consider running Notion Thief If you have a bunch of wheels. It's just a great hate card in and of itself, should probably be in every deck that has U/B in all honesty.
