I am interested in building a competitive Blind Seer deck. I have never played against a Blind Seer deck, and he obviously some fun and interesting synergies with cards.
Does anyone have a good Blind Seer list? What are some strong interactions that Blind Seer has in the format? What are some great hidden gems that work well with Blind Seer effects?
The problem with Blind Seer is that his ability can be mana intensive. I'd definitely run high tide, turnabout effects and baby Jace. Also a wincon is needed.
Hibernation is cool as well. Also creatures like Tidal Visionary can help when you can't cast UrzThe Seer :P. I tried making a deck ages ago but I was less experienced and couldn't find ways to close games. I hope you have better luck.
Are you sure Insight works? I believe that by the time you get to respond to a spell by changing it's colors it's already on the stack, so Insight would not trigger anymore?

The secret to enjoyable Commander games is not winning first, but losing last.

I'm not sure at all, but I think you're totally right. It could still draw some cards (depending on green players :))

You are correct that it will not work. On cast triggers check right when the spell is finished casting and before anyone gets a chance to respond. Changing it after that point will not really do anything.

True, but at the start of the UR storm player's upkeep, you could change Green to Blue and get a bunch of CA.
Douse is a must. Insight could draw you some cards.

I'm thinking this deck might want a Sword of Calvin and Hobbes X and Y or two somewhere. Very easy to reap the benefits when you can meddle with the opposing creatures' colors. And Blind Seer is a 3/3, which isn't completely embarrassing. The natural protection offered by something like Sword of Light and Shadow will help shield him from removal, too.

Nope, because when it's cast, the spell isn't green, so it doesn't trigger Insight.
Swords of Things and Things? It's admittedly janky.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
King crab is one my friend has used regularly to shut people down.
This friend would be me. I have had Blind Seer together as my casual deck for a couple years now and I can guarantee it’s fun to cast cards like King Crab that most people have never seen before and then completely wreck them with it. I have never been a big EDH player, so I have never attempted to make this list competitive, but it sounds like a fun project so I think we should give it a shot.
As has been pointed out, Blind Seer is pretty janky and can be incredibly mana intensive. But it has synergies with a lot of cards that you would probably never see played aside from fringe sideboard use. It has been a lot of fun for me to pilot and you will almost always at least get style points even if the game doesn’t go according to plan.
I don’t have a complete list together at the moment because I did recently gut some of it for another deck, but I’ve compiled a list of stuff that has worked for me:
Hydroblast and Blue Elemental Blast are the most obvious includes in Seer but their little brother, Flash Flood, is frequently forgotten. Hibernation, Wash Out, and Inundate are all good sweepers. Llawan, Cephalid Empress also can sweep the field and prevent many creatures from coming back down if you color hack her ability. Ether Well and the aforementioned King Crab make for some good bounce. Wrath of Marit Lage can be tailored to shut down any opponent(s) of your choice and on a smaller scale; Tidebinder Mage shuts down a single creature. Well-Laid Plans is fun because you can play God and control the outcomes of everyone’s combat steps. Douse forces everyone to ask permission for each spell they want to cast. *Warning: this one may cause you to lose friends* Flashfreeze and Jaded Response are both unconditional counterspells that cost between 2-4 mana depending on the situation. Cowardice, Dismiss into Dream, and Willbreaker are not “color matters” cards, but are extremely powerful alongside Blind Seer and frequently serve as win conditions.
Urza may be a masterful artist, but I don’t like relying on only the old Seer. Plus he doesn’t have any hacking skills.
I chose to focus on creatures with color protection to keep myself alive (one of the hardest tasks with this deck unless your opponents overlook you as a threat). Most of these creatures have very inefficient CMCs, but they do make it not worth it to attack into and are invulnerable to most removal.
With how mana intensive the deck is, casting the big spells are an issue and often are very mana intensive after the fact. One thign I felt that coudl help is a more toolbox approach to the deck. This allows for verisitiliy and the ability to hose certain stratagies that you may have issue with.
The first toolbox that is espically very mana light but effect could be a Trinket Mage package. This 1 or less artifacts can help you silver bullet while still keepign mana up for color manipulations. cards that help this are: Artificer's Intuition, Salvaging Station and Tezzeret the Seeker. While these peices are mana intensive I feel the eggs and such are cheap enough cost wise to allow you wiggle room. Artifacts that can be used include:
Another huge thing I think that doesn't get enought thought about is a Isochron Scepter Package. Just the basics could include just 4 counterspells and a few color changers for a total of 10 spells but further here are more ideas:
I put together a draft from what has worked for me and some ideas on this thread. I tried using the Trinket Mage package, but it didn’t seem like the deck had space for it.
For example, Blind Seer + Hydroblast/Blue Elemental Blast = Vindicate for 1UU
Willbreaker works well with Blind Seer, and Distorting Lens is another good Blind Seer effect. Dismiss into Dream costs a lot but can really do serious damage, especially when used with Sway of Illusion

Blind Seer's ability isn't Sleight of Mind; it can't mess with color words in a card's text.
