Least it's creative to build with new generals, so props for being interested in them. Honestly I would go zombie theme (obviously) with a splash of control/counter.
People argue their single cards are better then this new one but I disagree because of the access of colors alone. Truth is yeah this card isn't great, but either were the single versions of them. Gisa can get scary at optimal but she took time to do so. Definitely put their singles in the deck for funzies.
If you're doing this for the colors though, Lazav is a much better choice.
Mill you, mill me, mill each player, naturally! For real though, it will probably be janky, but fun. Play cards that let you grab stuff from everyones' graveyard like Sepulchral Primordial and the like.
Thanks. I was seriously thinking zombie control maybe I'll try mill and reanimator but I have a hard time wanting to mill peeps in commander. Cards like sepulcher do make it more viable .
Wonderful to have them now. Zombies were always missing something that allowed you to apply the Gravecrawler effect to whats in your grave. Also how excellent it is that we have Cryptbreaker which has beautiful synergy with them. Throw in a Rooftop Storm and Prized Amalgam and you got some really potent stuff.
Really thrilled about this card! I've been hoping for a combined Gisa and Geralf card for a while now, I'm a huge fan of both characters and I can't wait to build a Commander deck around this.
A buddy of mine has this proxied up. In our games so far he keeps tutoring up Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, because his interaction with gravecrawler tends to close out creature based games.
Gisa + Geralf are nice enablers to keep pulling these back, but from how his deck is playing out, Grimgrin seems to be the better general.
We are also pretty disapointed since they specifically say "zombie creature card," instead of just "zombie card." They would have been more interesting allowing nameless inversion to work. I guess conspiracy is still worth a mention.
I decided to build Gisa and Geralf as a casual commander and well I didn't really realize how good they can be. You first tutor is for Sidisi, than you get rooftop top storm by casting Sidisi, than its a repeatable free tutor every turn. I wouldnt say its anywhere close to the power of the best combo decks, but I would say that it is a great 75% deck.
Forbidden Alchemy, Rooftop Storm, actually, there are plenty of zombie tribal cards, along with "universal tribal" cards like Brass Herald, Door of Destiny, and Coat of Arms. Zombie Apocalypse is quite nice. In addition, zombies make obvious fuel for death triggers; in fact, I'd argue they're black's version of goblins and saprolings in that regard.
And remember, changelings are zombies too, so if you have any good changelings, consider them.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Club Flamingo Wins: 1!
But on topic: Zombies or mill, or zombie mill with the likes of Undead Alchemist.

I can't believe I haven't seen Fleshbag Marauder posted yet, is it just that obvious?
They seem like they could do serious work as the generals of a more grindy/controlly/staxy zombo deck.
He's about as obvious an auto include as Gray Merchant of Asphodel or Sidisi, Undead Vizier . I definitely want to try building a grindy value deck with GG, much like Meren.
And remember, changelings are zombies too, so if you have any good changelings, consider them.
