Assuming you dont have a commander collection already.... possibly. The problem with buying packs of a product like this is that if you have a good collection you might be talking a card or two you were perhaps thinking about picking up if prices are right or else you are looking to just generically add to your collection and or trade excess cards.
I think its going to make a lot more sense to let vendors open them if your goal is not to draft this. Opening a box or boxes of this set is unreasonable still if you ask me given the price and availability of it.
My opinion, buy the singles you want from this about a month to three months after everything gets opened.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Wasteland stands out the most for me, because it's one card from the spoiler that I do not have. Mana Crypt also, but that card is hardly fair against my more casual friends. I might trade whatever rates/mythics I get to obtain more Wasteland.
Mana Crypt is great for sure. There are a number of expensive cards I haven't picked up that I would pick up following a drop in price. In multiples, too.
Mana Crypt getting a reprint is what many EDH players were hoping for. Granted it is in a limited print run, but at least it's still a reprint. Almost all of the other rares and mythics also seem like good choices for reprints. So far I'm pretty happy about this set and we're only 16 cards in as I type this up. Good job Wizards . . . now if only you would make it more widely available
i will be buying a few packs, probably. Depends on what else gets spoiled and why my first pack looks like. Force of will and necropotence are wanted. Necroptence more than force.
I won't buy any sealed product from the set, but foil Gamble is a great inclusion for me. There's a few more things I would like to see reprinted, but we're still way too early in the spoilers to bemoan what isn't there.

well form what has been spoiled, ET, Deathrite, Charbelcher and Maze of ith are the only cards I own, and ET and Maze i can always use another copy of. So far it is not looking like a pack will hurt me in terms of building up a collection of singles.

Yes, bought a box of modern masters and regretted it big time. Could have just got every mythic I wanted out of it for the 250 instead. That's my plan this time around.

I don't have much of a collection, but since I'm trying to keep a 1-of-between-all-my-decks and have a "Get a foil straightaway if I don't already own a nonfoil" policy, it's still going to be vastly cheaper aiming for those singles, although being foil, the maneuvering of the time of getting them is going to be a lot tougher.
If there any stores around me do run (Modern, because I don't play Legacy) events that have Eternal Masters Boosters as prizes though, I think I might be playing in a lot more events for a while at least.
its looking pretty amazing, moreso for legacy players though probably, but still, there are some good cards there.. i've always been under the impression that cards like sneak attack were on the reserved list, but whaddaya know!
(from the same set, herald of serra is on the reserved list... go figure)

Isn't this true for any set? But spreading the availability of staples, especially with optic 'enhancement' like a black-bordered Sylvan Library or more Mana Crypts or just foils, is a pretty good thing. And 12 out of 20 cards so far are staples or pretty close to that, with another 3 seeing occasional play. Great numbers so far and I'm so hyped up for a draft!
EDH/Commander is a social format, right? So why don't people use their social skills to discuss what they like and don't like, instead of adopting a list with 60+ banned cards?
Worldgorger at mythic kind of sucks, but I can see why they did it, especially if Animate Dead, Dance of the Dead, or Necromancy are in.
Nah, if they want to design for draft, they can't limit the print run this heavily. I would be livid to open a worldgorger( or even 2 ) if I shelled out 300+ dollars for a box of this set.

The problem is that they almost always frontload the hype of their sets trying to push people to pre order boxes. Give it another week and you will see a lot more of the $0.50 trash. The problem with $10.00 packs is that when you are opening random $10.00 cards you are just doing ok. When you start opening the $0.50 rares is when it starts to hurt.
I would not judge the whole set on the first push of hype as they almost always save the big block of sadness for the end where they reveal they had another 30 trash rares or whatever that they push as cards to fill in the drafting function of the set. I am not saying that they could not come up with a lot higher consistancy of valuable rares than MM2015 but if anything MM2015 taught me that they push their hype cards upfront and as much as possible try to hedge their trash cards.

After Modern Masters 2, I'm quite convinced that the R&D policy for anything with boosters to be sold is "Limited Formats come before any other factors".
So, following that policy, "Limited Print Run" means "Fewer Draft opportunities, so players are more excited for them, therefore we do a better job at rarity-increases to cater to Limited".
Yes, I'm quite bitter after Modern Masters 2 (although ironically drafting was what I did with my box unlike the first Modern Masters where I just opened 2 boxes, but it was precisely that I figured that out I made sure I drafted it instead, but only got 1 box instead of 2 to prove the point). I'm probably not even bothering with getting any Eternal Masters Boxes even though it's admittedly closer to the first Modern Masters than the second one for now, but since unlike Modern Masters, I really want quite a number of foil singles (that are rare/mythics), which means singles are the absolute way to go.
LOLZ they brought back balance as a mythic and upgraded top and control magic to rare. This is so dumb lol.
So, you might say that including top is a big plus but its move to rare means you can get a now $30 card that should be worth about $15.00 out of a $10 pack. But my enthusiasm for that is offset by a $2.00 mythic and a $0.25 uncommon as a rare that they also previewed today.

So far the only card that seems to be been positively affect by this set is gamble, everything else is roughly the same.
