Just a fun little thread - what sort of commander would you like to see in future MTG products whose role is not already filled or is filled unsatisfactorily (i.e. you don't like the current "best" option for an archetype).
Please share; maybe we can help eachother find some commanders we didn't know about yet!
I'll start with the obvious: Commanders with 4-color identities (EDIT: dreams do come true!).
A good Boros commander whose game plan isn't "turn big dudes sideways".
Brion Stoutarm is close, although he still needs big dudes, he's throws them instead of attacking with them. Razia, Boros Archangel fits the bill except for "being good" -- at 8 mana, I expect a lot more. Munda, Ambush Leader's problems are twofold: the vast majority of playable allies and changelings in WR still fit the gameplan of "turn big dudes sideways", and his ability leaves the cards you're indexing on top of the deck, in the two colors worst at drawing. Archangel Avacyn could have been interesting... then they went and changed the transform rules.
That leaves Basandra, Battle Seraph. Unfortunately, her silence ability affects you too, so you can't use her to protect your instants from counterspells by casting them during the combat phase; she's pretty much limited to protecting you from combat tricks. Her activated ability opens up interesting avenues for deck design, though in a FFA setting you lose some of the control you would normally have with it.
When the last round of precons were coming out, I was hoping for something along the lines of Tectonic Edge stapled to Oath of Lieges as an ETB trigger.
A good Rakdos commander that really pushes that color combination onto the scene. There's good mono-Red decks, there's good mono-Black decks, but I hardly ever see Rakdos. Seems weird.
A cycle of Shard commanders who are structured like the splashable wedge commanders from Tarkir (like Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and the rest in that cycle).
A Boros leader who makes all your burn affect every opponent instead of a target opponent.
A red/blue artifact based commander.
A commander that deals out -1/-1 counters.
A legendary werewolf for obvious reasons.
A commander with an alternate wincon.
We actually have the two I bolded. For the -1/-1 counters we actually have several commnaders that work well for this. Skeleton Ship actually give the counters out but if you want to focus on -1/-1 Counters Vhati-il Dal, makes them even more powerful.
The Izzet artifact commander is a thing already and was given to us in the last set but not many realized it. Arjun, the Shifting Flame actually plays overly fantastic with artifacts as he can storm them out and search for all the artifact combo pieces. playing a signet to wheel you hand to dig for a Basalt monolith and either Power Artifact or Rings of Brighthearth to drop your entire deck is a very powerful thing.
The commanders I would like are a Legendary Wurm creature, Allied swords and more cheap mana rocks that don't break the game.
I just wanna see a White Black commander that focuses on Reanimation. Also the majority of Orzhov are lifegain focused and the others are kind of gimmiky or not super good.
BUG needs a general that supports reanimator more >.<

On a side note to the -1/-1 counter general, I would love to see a general with the proliferate mechanic. Not something like Vorel of the Hull Clade, but the actual keyword; preferably on some type of triggered ability.
I also really hope they do print a legendary werewolf in the upcoming set. I used to think they avoided it due to transform card legend rule weirdness, but the new Avacyn suggests otherwise.

A WUBRG Spirit commander.
A Human, Angel, or some such WGR commander. Hazezon Tamar is great, but out of print and expensive.
Any and all instants/sorceries-matters commanders that don't have that Izzet technomagic flavor. Think aesthetics like Mystical Tutor, Overmaster, and Twincast instead.
BUG needs a general that supports reanimator more >.<
It's not quite the same, but The Mimeoplasm is close to a sultai-colored reanimator.
Fair enough.

Well, there's Jori En, Ruin Diver who becomes a lot stronger if you've got enough instants that you can cast two per turn on every turn, and Tibor and Lumia with synergistic abilities that work well with chaining instants and sorceries together. Neither of them specifically require instant/sorcery spells, but they both work better with instants and instants/sorceries are easier to sustainably chain together thanks to cantrips and rituals.
- A Legendary Werewolf Commander in Gruul or Jund colors.
- A Knight commander in Orzhov, so that one can build Knight Tribal with the original Black and White side by side.
- A Sultai tiny leader, ideally one that pushes the deck into a different direction than "flip your entire library into your graveyard for fun and profit" (I know that Damia, Sage of Stone and Vorosh, the Hunter don't necessarily play that way but I just don't dig either of them)
- As others have said, a Boros commander that enables a deck other than "make lots of dudes, turn the sideways, pray". Ideally one that is 3 CMC or less for Tiny Leaders. Creature - Dwarf Soldier for even moar bonus points and tribal interactions.

-Number one thing I wish for: A political Blue/White Commander that can reveal opponents hands, be it exactly Telepathy or a similar effect. For now I'm using Sen Triplets solely for the effect.
-A Red/White Equipment based Commander. I already have Brion for a more "standing army" sort of control deck, Gisela for a "burn everything" deck, and Iroas for a Soldier Tribal "Go wide" deck. Having an Equipment Commander in these colors would cover the "early aggro" plan I want to do with hatebear creatures.
-A Black/White/X Knight Tribal Commander. I loved Knights for the longest time, and my old 60-card Casual Haakon deck got me to appreciate them. Olivia v.2 is the closest we have for that, but I want White, darn it.
-A Green/Blue Activated Abilities matter Commander. (Yes Kraj exists, but I'm looking for something different.)

Vhati doesn't work for me because I want to get with a proliferate theme. Sadly there's no UB infect.
Pirate ship is OK, and might be fun for a low power deck. I never gave it a lot of thoughts but it might be worth it.
While Arjun may be a good artifact commander, it's more synergy than actually having a fun artifact theme.
I'm sad that they made a Legendary Toad in SOI, and not a spider. Would it have killed them to make it a spider instead? Heck, you could have even kept the card exactly as it is and just changed the subtype and art. Why don't you want tribal spiders edh to be a thing, WotC?!? [/rant]
Oh and I know WotC doesn't want to explicitly ape DnD... but cm on, show dwarves some love already! I would love an artifact themed dwarf general.

I would love to see another 5-color commander who isn't tribal, although I agree that Kamigawa-block spiritcraft spirits need a 5-color commander, since there's not enough good ones for fewer colors than that.
The only good non-tribal 5-color commanders I know of are Child of Alara, who must have lots of graveyard recursion in the deck, Cromat, who fits the bill but is a little outdated and way too mana-intensive after you play him, and Progenitus, who is one of the most uninteractive "of course you're going to turn it sideways" cards in magic. Chromanticore would be perfect if it were only legendary.
EDIT: Though I would particularly enjoy a commander who somehow rewards multicolor-specific stuff like sunburst and converge as opposed to generic goodstuff decks.
Jor Kadeen can be equipment based, but the problem with that is that he doesn't directly benefit from it. You can't voltron him easily as Aurelia just does it better. I found that either Stax or going-wide compliments more to his playstyle.
On topic: There are Commanders from the next Commander product that I would be interested in seeing. On the base assumption that they are allied-paired:
WU: A "Flying Matters" general. Yes, Isperia the First and Kangee exist, but a quality of life change for the archetype would be appreciated. That and the aforementioned "Telepathy" general.
UB: Exile matters. Similar to Processing/Ingest in the new Zendikar block but aimed for Commander play.
BR: A damage matters theme. Like, hard core burn-everything-and-everyone. Heck, I would be interested in seeing a general with an existing enchantment effect on a creature, similar to Arjun.
RG: A sort of punisher theme following Ruric Thar's thematic. Then again, this could very well be a good chance to make a Werewolf Commander if they don't do it in Eldrich Moon.
He's tokens. He's literally just a big anthem, nothing says your 3+ artifacts for metalcraft have to be equipment, in fact only a couple equipments are probably worth using here
UB: Exile matters. Similar to Processing/Ingest in the new Zendikar block but aimed for Commander play.
Wow, I really like the idea of a legendary UB eldrazi that exiles/processes. It might look something like sire of stagnation. A smaller, colored, legendary eldrazi probably makes zero flavor sense, but Battle for Zendikar's story was just a trainwrecked, plagiarized The Avengers anyway so who cares
It's been mentioned already, but a 5CC Spirit commander would be perfect. O-Kagachi as a commander...we see him on Final Judgment but nowhere else.
A 5CC Angel legend would also be appreciated. Preferably without giving tribal bonuses - just a legendary creature that is an angel. Maelstrom Archangel only goes so far. I had a thought for a legendary 5CC angel that did things with lifegain, giving both Angel Tribal and 5CC Lifegain/Pillowfort a general without being a case of crippling overspecialization.

I want a legend that plays around with exiling and exiled cards. A "You can cast spells from Exile, but nowhere else. Exile a card from your hand: do a thing." kind of card.
I want more legends like the Theros gods, but with different card types like artifacts and lands.
I want a legendary Dryad Arbor and also in other colors. Of course they'd need the "[card name] is [this color]." type text.
I want a colorless Eldrazi version of Sliver Queen.
I want a Green legendary that makes, uses, and plays around with plant tokens.
I want a 5-color global Omnath, Locus of mana. Global as in other players' mana pools don't empty and the legend gets bigger based on the total amount of mana floating around.
I want a legend that let's you cast a spell from your library at double cost but only once per turn.

I know it would be stupid but I've always kinda wished sire of insanity was the rakdos legend from dragon's maze instead of exava, rakdos blood witch
