My play group and I have been kicking around a concept that would give EDH a little twist. The concept was that when someone got hit for 5 or more damage everyone would get up and change places with a random deck. Your life goes with you, the commander damage stays with the deck. I was curious if anyone had opinions on some rules or opinions on the game concept.
My concern will be that people will be passive and not swing until they can guarantee the kills, or play decks that isnt really designed to do damage. So thats when I thought I would come here and ask if anyone has any ideas to fix that problem.
Honestly, I think that the life thing would be fine. As long as it was just a random addition to a game, not something you set out to do as a frequent thing. And if everyone is just in it to be goofy and have a good time, it should not be an issue.
I'll think I will try this out with my Sunday group
My play group can kind of be competitive as in we like bragging rights....So if we do this concept people will be trying to do what ever they can to win.
So, do they swap out the EDH deck they're currently playing with another deck they own? Or do they get up and run around the table and start playing another person's deck?
We've played what I like to call Tea Party and everyone else calls Mad Hatter. Our rules are:
Life total stays with the deck
At the end of each person's turn, they roll a D6. If they roll a 1, they move one place to the left, if they roll a 6, they move one place to the right.
So, do they swap out the EDH deck they're currently playing with another deck they own? Or do they get up and run around the table and start playing another person's deck?
They get up, move, and play someone else's deck, who, in turn, plays theirs.

This actually has interesting ramifications. I personally would wait and then attack the opponent for 5 who has just demonic tutored or has assembled a part of a winning combo to try and win from there. Makes everyone incentivized to beat the crap out of the person in the lead.
