Did you notice thatAdarkar Valkyrie can actually return any creature, not only your own? She also has a decently sized body and two other relevant keywords.
In my meta people play powerful but not broken decks and most of them make sure to play a reasonable amount of interaction so games tend get at least a little grindy and I think in those situations Adakar Valkyrie could be really strong, especially if you can find a way to give her haste or protect her.
Who has experience with this card? Would you recommend it and for which decks?
Is it another overrated timmy card or can she pull her weight and contribute to a deck?
The problem is that white tends to exile stuff instead of just killing it. The art is incredibly beautiful, though, and I usually despise cheesecake bikini-clad fantasy schlock.

I never thought of using her as a steal card. That would be amazing. Someone uses doomblade on Elesh-norn, It's mine now.
I used Adakar In my Aurelia deck. It was 3 card combo involving Aurelia the Warleader and a free sac outlet. You tap Adakar targeting Aurelia, Attack with Aurelia. Aurelia untaps all creatures (Not just the ones that attacked) Sac aurelia (To something like Ashnod's Altar) Adakar's ability brings Aurelia back ready to attack again. Since it is a "new" aurelia it is the first attack of Aurelia. Repeat the formula for infinite attack phases. I actually won with tat combo only having Aurelia. I had to break through a few dozen Angels. Luckily i had Balefire liege out (but he wasn't attacking) So my Aurealie was a 5/6 instead of a 3/4, she was big enough to kill one angel a shot, Grand Abolisher was also out, not attacking so they could't stop me.
I've run her a few times and the tap is a big drawback unless you're running plenty of haste or ways to defend her through a turn cycle. She's great as both creature theft and a defensive piece once (if) she turns on. She's not quite as high profile as something like Deadeye, but she still draws removal pretty quickly.

She's doubly amazing when equipped with Thornbite Staff. Reanimate everything that dies in sequence (although since you have to activate her ability before the death actually occurs, you can't use that combo to scoop up a field in response to a board wipe). But it's a nice answer to (or combo with) Grave Pact style shenanigans.
I have experience with the card; I played it years and years ago after culling an arms-race and deciding Good-Stuff and value machines were the best ways to end the groups second arms race.
It is a solid card that needs the correct deck and playgroup. I ran it in Teneb, the Harvester Good Stuff which already contained protection: Lightning Greaves and Shield of Kaldra because Swiftfoot Boots and Darksteel Plate did not exist. It is powerful with and against Good Stuff. If you know your Meta, you need to decide if it is worth running.
I don't think she's quite edged out entirely, but, even in mono-white, it's hard to find room for her.
I find she is utility but you need to utilize her. So she is tough to run. However in decks that can utilize her she is amazing (Like teh Aurelia deck combo above)

Definitely agree here; she's great as part of a combo like Aurelia.
well in mono-white with a sac outlet with Village Bell-Ringer you can untap the living crap out of your creatures. Leading to infinite mana with mana dorks, making dudes with tap abilities Thraben Doomsayer or giving counters Mikaeus, the Lunarch.

I run her in my Saffi Eriksdotter deck. I pretty much only ran her as a second copy of Saffi, but I'll have to keep the 'any creature' clause in mind the next time I have her out.
I was so concerned about abusing my own creatures that I didn't even think of using my opponents'.
Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to try her out in my Karametra deck which wants to cast powerful creatures and protect it by various means. Considering the responses here she might fit very well in that deck.

She'll do good; she's a repeatable reanimation effect, and those are always nice.
Played this card a while back before all the reprints, and it was a good card. Unfortunately the Tap ability is slow, and the reanimation makes opponents nervous. In my experience she ate removal far more often than actually reanimating. Really like the card, but in my removal happy meta, its ETB the gathering, or you loose value.
I still have her in a deck that focuses on tap abilities. Works a little better there because it is hard to decide which ability is more dangerous, and it runs haste sources as well. Thousand-Year Elixir.
Adarkar Valkyrie and Thornbite Staff is a 2 card re-animation engine.
Which re-animates ANY creature. Yes any 187, can go infinite through ANY (no cost) sac outlet.
Not just power 2 or less a la Karmic Guide and Revielleark.
How Karmic Guide and Reviellark continue to be the more popular and broadly known and exploited white 2 card re-animation engine continues to blow my mind.

Guide + Lark is more popular because it's a better combo. Valkyrie + Staff is vulnerable to artifact removal in addition to GY hate and creature removal. It requires you to either give Valkyrie haste or have it survive around the board, either adding a card or telegraphing the play and making it vulnerable to sorcery speed removal. It requires all of its pieces to start on the board, including the creature you want to loop and the sac outlet. In contrast, Guide + Lark can't be hit by artifact hate (unless you're using an artifact sac outlet) and never has to leave any opportunity to interact at sorcery speed. The creature you're looping as well as all of the other combo pieces can start in the yard if you're using a small creature sac outlet, and it's also resistant to removal that destroys instead of bouncing or exiling for the same reason. Valkyrie + Staff having a more powerful end effect doesn't matter if it never actually comes together and both of them are probably going to win you the game or provide enough advantage to put you in a heavily favored position. That means the more resilient, difficult to interrupt combo is the stronger one.
From a non-combo standpoint, i.e. the vast majority of games I play, my views on Valkyrie are about the same as two years ago. It's a cool creature with a powerful effect that you'll never get to use unless you devote additional resources to protecting it. I still run it occasionally and it's great when it turns on but it doesn't happen often.

Yeah, the 6 slot is really competitive, and not just in white. (In fact, it's more competitive in all the other colors, just because white creatures tend to be cheap.) You also have True Conviction and Wurmcoil Engine (which is notable for having a pure colorless three-card infinite combo). You have Final Judgment and Austere Command. You have Martyr's Bond.
She is a nice card, but doomed to niche play because these higher slots are so useful in Commander.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
She paints a big target. Hard to keep her alive for a turn cycle. If you are playing haste outlets, or colors weak at recursion, then it could be a good fit. In the days of ETB-the Gathering, tap abilities are getting every more difficult to justify.
I only tried her in GWB, where there are better animation options. In a RW, UW, or GW value engine deck, I would look much more closely at Valkyrie.
Undoubtedly solid card with a high ceiling. Just hard to reach its potential in practice.
Edit: White also tends to either exile for targeted removal, or just Destroy everything.
I play Adarkar in my Merieke Ri Berit deck, and she functions VERY solidy(not surprising, given the game plan). It IS a concern to keep her alive so the ability can be used, but my group usually doesn't get the idea about her until it's too late(or she's already grabbed something). I'm rarely unhappy to see her, in all honesty.

Okay, but, seriously, I really like her but the 6 CMC slot for White is brutal. It competes with: Sun Titan, Captain of the Watch, Admonition Angel, Angelic Skirmisher, Deathless Angel, Soul of Theros, Sunblast Angel, Twilight Shepherd, and Yosei, the Morning Star.... and others.
I don't think she's quite edged out entirely, but, even in mono-white, it's hard to find room for her.
