Some friends and I are going to play Tribal EDH this coming week for a recording. The tribes chosen so far are Wizard, Zombies, and Demons. We're a pretty casual bunch so I'm not looking for the best tribes like Elves or Goblins but rather something unique that maybe the average EDH viewer hasn't seen before.
Any good recommendations? I was thinking maybe Snakes or Birds but I'd like to hear suggestions.
Faeries? Oona, Queen of the Fae as general, Scion of Oona for tribal... Lorwyn had quite a few, but I'm not sure that there's enough there for tribal.
Otherwise, I dunno... Thrulls?

Vampires are decent and somewhat popular but not all that great by EDH metrics, so they could make a fun tribe. You can go Mono-B (Anowon, the Ruin Sage being the main tribe leader, but you can also go Baron Sengir or one of the Dranas), Rakdos with Olivia Voldaren or Grixis with Garza Zol, Plague Queen.
Merfolks aren't as explosive as the big tribes and due to their generally small size not as powerful as they are in 60-card-magic, and can be run Mono-U, Azorius or Dimir (The Syggs make good commanders in the latter cases).
Giants is also an option. Gruul, Boros or Naya are all possible, though your commander might not suit the theme. Who doesn't love big stompy dudes with dumb abilities?

Im going to say either Shamans or Griffins would be fun as they are the tribes that I loved to play and I feel they are very underplayed. I have a Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper shamans which is one of my favorite decks to play and is in my signature. Zuberi, Golden Feather is my griffin commander and it is surprisingly fun to play and play against. It is actually quiet good which amazes people. Otherwise the last 3 decks on my signature are all tribal decks if you want to check them out
I think birds and snakes are done a little more than some of the other tribes mentioned.Birds are quite well supported for a non high fantasy race, with lots of good bird themed cards and commander staples that happen to be birds. Having an army of small evasive threats that only stay small for so long is quite the powerhouse.
I built a MonoDruid deck with Kamahl, Fist of Krosa as commander, later replaced for Freyalise. It tries to play around Gilt-Leaf Archidruid (the card what drove into build the deck), and has an Ezuri to smash with elves and tons of mana.
Another tribal deck I used to play was a Marrow-Gnawer MonoRat. Obviously included Ogre Slumlord and Ratcatcher, and some monoblack good stuff. It wasn't very effective, but was fun to play.
EDIT: Expanding a little, an Snake deck with Kaseto is a good one to try. Tribal Sphinx with either version of Isperia too, including Sphinx's Revelation and Alhammarret's Archive.
I intended to mention it earlier, but beast tribal could also be good. They have some fun support cards and you're in gruul colors, which puts you away from the current colors. I'm not sure which general I would pick, but there are several you could use.
My vote has to go for spellshapers. Had a drawn out thread on the subject you may want to read, but having access to all those spell-like abilities is a lot of fun, and adding tribal synergies to the deck could only make it better. Here you are.
Well the tribes already chosen seem to be some combo of U or B so how about Elementals with Horde of Notions at the helm? Soldiers with Odric, Giants with Kalemne, Sphinx with Isperia or Vampires with Drana? Plenty of options for different tribes and colours.

My list is WG, but most cards are colorless so you could go in any direction.
I also like making tribal decks in the "wrong" colors. I made an Esper Dragons list and have been toying around with Mardu Wizards for awhile.
