Isn't this just an old wording for 'indestructible'? I'm sure you could Voltron the guy suited up and at least swing with abandon on every turn. Not general material, but maybe useful in the 99.

No, indestructible is better. An indestructible guy does not die to terror. There are conner cases where prevention is better like against infect.

"Hail to the speaker, hail to the knower; joy to he who has understood, delight to they who have listened." - Odin
Well, the text looks good, until you realize it's about 1/2 of indestructible and 1/4 of Protection from Everything, which makes it feel like a 3/4 ability... add that to a 4-mana 2/2, it's definitely not going to feel adequate.
Even if he costed 1W, I think I'd forgo the clause in favor of Isamaru, Hound of Konda dropping a turn earlier (and costing 1 every re-cast) in a Mono-White Voltron build.
Cho-Manno is part of the 99. I mean he's part of my 1999-themed EDH deck that is designed to be representative of the game in that era. Nowadays, he's 100% outclassed.

One of the best cards you can grab with sivvi. Combo with pariah and similar effects. Wears equipment well. Generally solid speedbump. Not a card that goes in every white deck, and a bad commmander, but pretty good if you're deck has the right synergies.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
I always liked that guy since I started back in Masques. I wish...his 10th Edition art was in the old border, though. I have foils of both versions as they stand...neither look great.
Seems to have been made to support Landfall. At least it recoups the lands bouncing back to your hand with the mana it taps for, but between Thran Dynamo and Gilded Lotus...yeah nope.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
Hmmm. Not something I would normally consider, though I'm looking a everything with land synergies for The Gitrog Monster. If he's in play, this becomes closer to a 3-mana rock with the upside of potentially using an ETB land again. That might actually be perfectly fine if one wanted to build a rampy Monster.
Similar to the various Karoo-lands and the alaran borderposts, the gem gives you a way of having land drops when you'd have otherwise whiffed on lands for the turn. If all you're trying to do is curve out &/or fix mana, rather than actually ramp, then you could do far worse than playing the gem. Of course, the primary difference between Khalni Gem and most of the aforementioned options is that it's far more mana intensive (both in terms of minimum mana needed, and overall mana used). As mentioned, they also give you the option of buyback-ing certain ETB lands should you have a reasonable amount of them (the borderposts kind of fail in this aspect, but make up for it by having the option of being strict ramp when you can afford it).
Unless you've got some artifact synergies as well, I'd probably focus on the Karoos first and foremost should you be looking for this kind of effect.
I've built numerous landfall decks and typically Karoo lands and other effects (Meloku the Clouded Mirror, Scryb Ranger, Trade Routes) are the preferred way of scooping lands for replay value. A card to consider but probably not good enough in the 99 even for a dedicated landfall list unless that landfall list is mono-colored or something and even then...
Agree with 256k, this is a card that, while it's neat to be able to reset Gemstone Mine etc, get additional Bojuka Bog triggers, and get some extra landfall spells, I think playing this in a deck featuring Armageddon, Ravages of War, Cataclysm, Catastrophe, etc. is probably the best way to abuse it. I'd probably look at including it in a list with other artifact based mana meant to make MLD extremely onesided.
You can also use this thing alongside Stasis to buy a few more turns of upkeep for Stasis by bouncing islands, or use it with a freshly deployed Winter Orb to recover quickly from it. Turns excess lands into cards with Scroll Rack as well.

EDH: Grand Arbiter $tax, Freyalise Stompy, Mimeoplasm Death From the Grave
Good example of a bad card that's useful in the right deck. I run it in Omnath 2.0 and it pulls its weight. It's also good with borby and similar effects.
It also is basically free if you have Oracle, courser, or exploration out and play it on a turn when you have no lands in hand, as you can return two you used to play for it and replay them.

It allows you to reuse utility ETB lands like Bojuka Bog and reset counters on Vivid lands.
Yeah, but Vivid lands are terrible
They're a budget option. Unfortunately, you also get the ETBT back that way.
You can also use Khalni Gem to put lands back in your hand for landfall. Or you can use it with something like Dryad Arbor or the artifact lands to reset that. Or you can use it with "Maro-like" cards. Or with rebound or spellshapers.
It does have value with scrylands, or in Oloro, refuges (and Kabira Crossroads, if you're desperate).
7/10 Players who like saying "This card sux." will not be disappointed. Nor will players who like turning downsides into upsides.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Does make blocking rather hard. I've never seen it in action though so I can't really judge it's mettle.

khalini gem is a card i use this quite a bit actually. the tempo loss is probably really painful in most playgroups, but it does reset some citp lands like the bog, it can bounce things like barren moor to cycle away if you don't need all the lands late game.. its not ALL horrible, but i can understand when people laugh at it when i play it
i wish i had a raging river actually. its the original card that makes players choose left or right, and it is definitely very flavourful. i can imagine it being pretty funny with a token swarm, then you just mash all your tokens on one side of the river.
....what happens if you copy enchantment it? can creatures be left of the right side of the river? or do they just cancel out?
