I could put this Liliana into Karador, she can be brought back unlike the others and its easy enough to flip her in that deck, but ultimately while I can still make use of the cards other people discard, I'm wary of opponents who can also do the same so my cautious side prefers targeted discard (not that I use that ability, it's mostly a overcosted Vampiric Tutor that provides a distraction for damage). The deck does has a Legendary subtheme, which is good for tutoring this Liliana as well, but she's selfish and her second ability doesn't contribute to the theme (I understand the flavor behind it), so I have no use for a selfish necromancer not helping with the game plan.
I have a 1-of each planeswalker sub-type among all my decks for flavor reasons, so take that into account before going "Why not both?".
At least I'm not the only one!
Although, as soon as I can obtain a LotV, I am building a B deck with LHH at the helm, withallheriterations, and obviously, The Chain Veil. Today's Liliana helps with the early life gain, and the late CA.
I managed to pull lily from a booster and she has been in my karador dredge chieftain ever since. Being a creature is a neat upside when I fill up my grave with creatures and cast them from there. Being cheap casting her and doing something else is really easy and you have this random sun titan synergy to boot.
I play her in my Vela the Night-Clad Aristocrats/Dimir value deck. Rarely something I'll actively tutor for but she pulls her weight quite well. Plus, transforming her triggers Vela.
I play her in Meren (along with the Origins iteration of Nissa) because I thought the only thing more mean than recurring creatures would be recurring planeswalkers.
She's ok; her +2 can move you towards locking a game out, and her -X has some good utility (though, it's noteworthy that she can't rez Xiahou Dun). I've never hit her ultimate, but I'm pretty sure it'd be a game-ender at my tables.
I want to try her as a commander some day, perhaps when Toshiro gets boring.
I must be the only person who can't make her work properly as commander in Mono B. I have tried her in other decks, she does good work but for some reason it's one of the first card that I cut when I want to revamp a deck :S
I like the synergy between the two abilities. I also like how it feels like a planeswalker version of Reanimate. (Sarkhan the Mad uses similar tech as Bob, but Bob is variable and you really want this to be a -X rather than "0, does X damage", for reasons that should be obvious.)
Oddly, I don't remember this Lili seeing play as a madness enabler. I guess "strictly better Mongrel" played that role better. Then again, madness wasn't as crazy (pardon the pun) as it was in Odyssey block either.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
The problem with this one is that it asks for you to play Thrulls and they all have one toughness. Granted, you've got Thrull Champion... If you want a similar card that doesn't ask for hoops to jump through, Flowstone Surge is for you.
I mean, it is a way to keep Endrek Sahr alive by killing all the thrulls if you just want to abuse enters/leaves triggers, with a nice little power bonus. Of course, literally any repeatable sac outlet is better. This card was always bad, even in 60 card Thrull tribal decks.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
It has so much potential to be a decent 'anthem', but it fails so hard because of the -1 toughness thing. Could totally be Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder tech, but it would kill your tokens when you attack with it, requiring another card (another anthem, realistically) to keep them alive.
I do believe Cohort has been rated as the most disliked mechanic ever. Narrow, takes too much resources to work and the payoff is hilariously bad.
Much the same here. Play a Goblin Piker, which you must then tap, and THEN tap another of your creatures, which MUST be an ally, all to ping an opponent for 1. Eesh.

The flavor text is alright I guess?
I hope the art/flavor people get to do better cards as well.
Would be kind of disappointing if everyone hated the only thing you got to work on.

If combo should die before I wake I'll slide a Smokestack in every deck I play, roll in every shop wreck the Spirit of EDH.
The art is cool a 2/1 first strike is fine in limited. There are only a tiny handful of cohort allies that even make it into ally tribal, so I'll go full pass on this one.
I love how we go from great cards to gate and...this.
That said amazing art. If you want a chuckle think of the eldrazi war and this lizard commander "tapping" himself and his army buddy to do one insignificant damage to an eldrazi monster.
God BFZ block was loaded with mechanical problems. Cohort, support, surge, converge, devoid, awaken, ingest, processors, so much that was either underpowered, overly convoluted, or completely out of place in the environment. Then you have eldrazi being broken in modern and devoid being exactly the sort of cop out non mechanic that Maro has (rightly) condemned on multiple occasions, the block was a disaster. Yes, there are some individually good cards, primarily pushed rares and mythics that were low hanging fruit.

This is extremely useless. I have a very hard time figuring out where this land is useful.
- 3 mana and 1 mana per turn.
- Needs Thrull sacrifices to remain on the battlefield temporarily.
- Gives +2/-1 to a narrow tribe.
The +2/-1 is to all attacking creatures, not to Thrulls.
Hm, more useful. But not enough, personally.
The Cohort card. I want to do a WUBRG ally tribal deck and this card is not going to make it.
Would it even make it in Mono-Red Ally Tribal, I wonder.

I really enjoy the art of so many cards we see in this thread, yet they're so garbage in EDH. Sadly, this is yet another one of those cards.
