It should be noted that in his errata he's now a Zombie Wizard, which means he could fit well in a grixis creature type matters deck. Still not great, but it's something.
As we approach Christmas, there will be no update tomorrow and monday (The 26th is 2nd Christmas Day here.), and of course, today's update is early as well. So to everyone, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah, and for those not participating in those festivities, I wish you Happy Holidays, and we'll see one another again the 27th.
At my meta, if you ask, we aren't going to disallow the Holidays cards. Yule Ooze is one of the simpler to use ones, and as we often play with a bowl of small snacks on the table, it's very easy to keep open it's regeneration shield. The pun in the title is one of the smarter ones, too.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
Yule ooze is my favorite Holiday Card (followed by Fruitcake Elemental)
I have even debated grabbing one for my Thromok deck (prior to dismantling Thromok)
Still I wan to get Yule ooze even if I do not really have a deck for him to run in. (though my Riku deck does run Doubling season... so Yule ooze could get big in that.)

Anyway, I doubt today's card was random.
Just for the record: Of the almost 360 cards I've done so far, about 10 were not random. This one and yesterday's were indeed such cases, but most of the time it's 100% random goodness.
Merry Christmas.

Without the mana cost for its regeneration ability, it'd be pretty tough to kill.

Aaand we're back. Coiling Woodworm is unique in that most cards of this effect only count YOUR lands. Sadly, most cards of this effect also buff their toughness. This worm gets blocked to death by anything, so even as lategame fatties go in an underpowered meta, methinks this deserves a skip most of the time.

I remember getting one of those Nemesis prebuilt decks, and this card was in it. Just one of...and it was a green/black deck with no chemistry with this guy.
I drafted Nemesis, took one look at this, saw the 1 toughness, and said "No. Just no." Even with the benefit of multiplayer (and Masques block had something of a multiplayer focus, albeit more in the form of bad ideas like the flailing cards and rhystic), this just seems bad.
It's hard to believe this is in the same set that gave us Blastoderm and Saproling Burst, but I guess they can't all be superstars in Fires. Or if you prefer, this is the same set that gave us Tangle Wire, but they can't all be superstars in Stax either.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Before we were spoiled with Dungrove Elder we had this, and he seemed pretty cool at times. It's only a matter of time really before it is functionally reprinted at two mana.

I could see it at 2 counting only your forests.
0/10 I cannot think of any reason to ever play this card in commander. I tried it a few times in 60 card casual and it was bad there unless it has trample or lure.
Probably only in chaos-loving decks. Nothing that takes itself serious.

As an aside, I'm convinced Planar Chaos should've given us a black (or possibly red) Unstable Mutation. A philosophical argument could be made for it being either color.

Its blue removal that can sometimes act as blue pump. If you know what's on top of your library, something blue is good at, you eliminate the chaos factor.
This used to be intriguing, and even enough to make it a surprise trick in mono blue, but not anymore. There are simply too many blue spot removal cards that are better. And by too many I mean 4, which is more than enough for blue. The three advantages it has is it kills Gods, though Reality Shift and Curse of the Swine do that as well, it leaves the opponent with nothing (in exchange for not always being able to do the job), and it can serve as pump every once in awhile, and these aren't enough to make it better than any of the alternatives.

Onering's 4 simple steps that let you solve any problem with Magic's gameplay
Whether its blue players countering your spells, red players burning you out, or combo, if you have a problem with an aspect of Magic's gameplay, you can fix it!
Step 1: Identify the problem. What aspect of Magic don't you like? Step 2: Find out how others deal with the problem. How do players deal with this aspect of the game when they run into it? Step 3: Do what those players do. Step 4: No more problem. Bonus: You are now better at Magic. Enjoy those extra wins!
Can you imagine the massive amounts of gamma radiation it takes to make his arm cancer out like that? I think that's why this card is blue. No other color would have access to that angle of attack.
Yeah, I always thought this was usable because it's either pump or removal in a color that hopefully can manipulate the top of the deck. Blue doesn't get pump.

2/10 I do like how you can whiff on this with Lotus Blossom, Ancestral Vision, Wheel of Fate, and Hypergenesis, all popular cards in Yidris Chaos.
