I've been wanting to build a deck around The Mimeoplasm, but I don't want to do the typical combo deck approach such as Necrotic Ooze + Triskelion + Phyrexian Devourer. I still want to use the Ooze if I end up using many creatures with activated abilities (such as graft creatures). I might still use Triskelion for spot-removal if necessary, but it's rather iffy without a lot of counters or deathtouch.
I might still use some typical graveyard tools and targets such as Body Double, Prime Speaker Zegana, Wonder, Brawn, and some big guys for their +1/+1 counters (though I'd prefer ones that are good copy/reanimation/ability targets).
I'd rather self-mill with things like dredge, I think. I have a Phenax deck devoted to milling opponents, so that theme can stay there. Buried Alive is fine, though I don't want it to be about combo pieces. I'd be totally fine with Traumatizing myself. I figure LftL, Golgari Grave-Troll, and Stinkweed Imp would be a good dredge package.
However, since it's in The Mimeoplasm theme to steal creatures, I have no qualms about stealing other peoples creatures with Bribery and Willbreaker in this deck.
That leads me to consider graft creatures such as Plaxcaster Frogling and Cytoplast Manipulator. I think it would please me very much to place a +1/+1 counter on a friend's Kaalia as she enters only to give her shroud in response to equipping Greaves. And then steal her.
I don't know why wouldn't want to make a deck like that. Mimeoplasm is a great general in arguably the strongest color combination, so you can do pretty much whatever you want with him. These ideas sound a lot like one of my friends decks, he used self mill and reanimation to great effect.
If you still want a good instant kill option, buried alive looking for wonder, deaths shadow, and gaea's revenge is pretty nasty. Cast your general and you end up with a evasive 21 power general with haste that's almost totally untargetable
Since the number of game-winning cards is fairly low, you can supplement them with a package of removal (to buy time), tutors, and draw spells. Particularly fitting ones include:

Wonder - I already want to put that in here, because the graveyard-effect creatures are awesome. I had somebody mill my Ruric Thar for around a dozen cards once and they milled Genesis and Anger. That ended up hurting him.
Gaea's Revenge - Not bad, the haste and almost-hexproof are definitely bonuses.
Death's Shadow - This is the one that I probably won't run. Gaea's Revenge has a sizeable power for Mimeo's second target for +1/+1 counters, a pretty decent body and abilities for both a creature on its own and Mimeo's first target for copying. Death's Shadow is only for the first rather than all 3, to me. Even Lord of Extinction might not see his way in because he doesn't add anything else. Revenant might not be as big, but flies.
One of my main groups has somebody who runs an infect Mimeo deck that isn't degenerate, so they're not accustomed to the more popular builds. And I get targeted anyway when they don't know what I'm up to.

Krosan Tusker is a great option, actually. And I like the suggestions on the draw spells that discard. I was thinking of using stuff like Merfolk Looter and Dakra Mystic, too. On the other hand, I'd like to avoid using infect.

Yes, that is a fun play. I might actually include Ob. I had played Defense of the Heart once from my Ruric Thar deck and then somebody played him in response. Didn't have any other creatures and was going to have to sac one of the two I grabbed, so I went for Giant Adephage and Homura, Human Ascendant. Somebody else wiped the board as soon as they could.
Oh wow, I never noticed Fertilid targets, and I run the thing in 3 decks! That's hilarious.
Are there any other cards that do this? Because I've searched and searched on Gatherer, and this seems the only targeted and non-optional card for this out there.

Traumatize should help nicely. Hadn't thought of using Tunnel Vision on myself, but it's half a tutor, almost. I've certainly though about Hindering somebody's spell and then using Tunnel Vision on them to mill. Psychic Spiral could be interesting.
I figured I'd have to mitigate the self-mill somehow so I don't deck myself, but will have to test stuff like Elixir to see how I like dumping my whole graveyard back in versus selectively putting some cards back into the library (a la Battlefield Scrounger and Bow of Nylea and Junktroller).

Until your regular group knows for sure that you aren't running expected cards, you may end up targeted a disproportionate amount.

Traumatize and Tunnel Vision give you a huge gy to play with
Playing with self mill can be dangerous, you may wanna put in some cards that will allow you to re-shuffle your gy into your library like Feldon's Cane, Time Spiral, Time Reversal and Elixir of Immortality.
