I use it with my Daxos the Returned, in conjunction with Skybind and other constellation cards to generate benefit. Karmic Guide suddenly becomes a repeated reanimation, and Sun Titan becomes very difficult to kill, save exile effects.
It's alright, not busted, but decent. I've done the Sakura-Tribe Elder combo too; and does it ever ramp out that land in multiplayer. I also put it on Archaeomancer once against an opponent's Anowon, the Ruin Sage. It worked better than a Snapcaster Mage!
Handy card, toss it in any deck with ETB / LTB / Sac effects and it'll find a combo somewhere.

It's very handy, as others have noted. I rather like it in combination with Burnished Hart or, as already noted, Yavimaya Elder for ridiculous amounts of ramp.
I'm having mixed results with it in Uril. On one hand it's almost impossible to kill him twice in one turn, on the other it only saves Uril, not the other auras. If I'm forced to fall back on one of my other wincons like Segarda or Sun Titan it's nice to have that extra layer of protection to substitute for the command zone.
It can be fun with other sacrifice outlets like Brion Stoutarm.
heh.. the mental image i get of brion chucking a avatar of slaughter at an opponent's kaysa, then kinda trundles back to your base with a headache to do it all over again.
in most enchantress builds/enchantment matter decks, gift of immortality can be pretty useful. i'm generally a bit wary of using things like burnished hart to thin my deck of lands though (we have a lot of land destruction here).
Only one mention of the obvious synergy with Sun Titan yet? Whoa.
Last time I played it, I attached it to Iona, Shield of Emeria. One of my opponents congratulated me on a "Perfectly played dick move". It was a fun afternoon.
I've also had fun with it on Ashen Rider next to a Viscera Seer. My opponent failed to take it into account when he aimed a Swords to the Rider...it went as well as you'd expect it to.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
I ran this in child of alara, because I am a bad person. More efficient, less reliable version of corpse dance. Which is a better version of genesis and volrath's stronghold. So I dedicated the deck to searching up one or the other, along with a sac outlet, around turn 4-5 every game. Did I mention I was a bad person?
The first time I ran Gift, was when it just got released and I made a bad Triad of Fates deck. The one game I remember most clearly was getting a Gift onto a Burnished Hart. I did absolutely nothing for the longest amount of time, and it felt great.
I run this in two decks currently, and it may make it into a third (my 3 most recent fog oriented decks)
In Marath, it was added to combo with Steve effects (Dawntreader Elk), as well as with Spike Weaver. I've also simply dropped it into Stoneforge Mystic or other value creatures, even without a sac outlet, just to threaten blocks and extra value. I eventually burned some counters off of marath to get the re-trigger.
In Karador, a deck built around Spore Frog and other self sacrifice and sacrifice for profit themes, it was a bit of an easy add, once I managed to justify the cost. Again, Steve makes an appearance, and Sun Titan provides an infinite combo.
Trostani probably will stay off the need to get it, Steve is really the only synergy, Aside from sun titan and Greater Good. Also, I don't want all 3 decks to have the same ramp package.
Can be fun in an Enchantress-type build, I guess. Not that good, since you'll need hexproof things to take advantage of it, but still, fun.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

IMO one of the most underrated cards to come out of Theros block. It's the modern day "gems" of EDH, something you'll be hard-pressed to find these days. Considering today's EDH cards literally scream to your face as you look through the spoilers.
Absolutely love it in Saffi, both on the general herself, or on any of the self-saccing creatures I have, or ETB/LTB cretures when I have a sac outlet. And it even goes infinite with such an outlet an Sun Titan.
I play it in Zedruu, not for any abusability, but to keep Zedruu around (and because it can be donated painlessly). It can definitely be abused easily.
Gift of Immortality is a fantastic card in a lot of decks. I used to use it in Brion Stoutarm to fling the same creature every turn.
I would constantly forget that the gift comes back attached to the creature at the beginning of the next end step. That little part made it difficult to use
in infinite or large combos. It's still a great card to use in a lot of decks and I'm thinking of using it in Tajic, Blade of the legion.

This is why it's a gem. You don't really want cards that straight out combo, or be too easy. Otherwise, you wouldn't stay in the game for a looooooong time... At least for me.
Sun Titan's best friend. I run it in my Dakkon Blackblade deck and just slap it on Dakkon himself. It's surprisingly resilient, and turns a simple beater into a consistent threat.
As mentioned, it can win the game next to Sun Titan. I would also like to mention that a lot of decks scoop to Gift of Immortality on a Spore Frog or Kami of False Hope. Without graveyard hate or Krosan Grip, it is very hard to get rid of a Gift.
While unlikely to be found in top-tier decks, GoI is fun to play with, especially with self-sacrificing creatures.
Currently, I run it in a GW concoction where I prefer to play it on Sakura-Tribe Elder, Yavimaya Elder, and/or Silverchase Fox.
What is your opinion or experience with GoI?
Cheers!
