Hey folks. I've been in love with Pathbreaker Ibex since the card came out. I want to make a deck dedicated towards casting the goat, copying it, and swinging for ludicrous amounts of damage. I test the decks online and I'm wondering if I can break the MTGO client if we get a number high enough.
What are the best ways to copy/abuse this goat? We've got Rite of Replication of course, also make a giant army and turn them all into goats with Mirrorweave. What else can we do? What commander should lead the fun?

Yeah, he isn't really breakable, but he IS a fun gamewinner. Just add a few ways to give him haste in your deck and you should be set.
Also, it'll be really painful to combine this dude with Craterhoof Behemoth. Something about no kill like MURDERKILL.

If you want to get really crazy you can play Trostani's Summoner or Precursor Golem , enchant with reflections, cast pathbreaker generating infinite dudes, then use one of the numerous methods to move reflections onto the Ibex. Infinite Ibex. I bet that would break modo wide open.

If you want to get really crazy you can play Trostani's Summoner or Precursor Golem , enchant with reflections, cast pathbreaker generating infinite dudes, then use one of the numerous methods to move reflections onto the Ibex. Infinite Ibex. I bet that would break modo wide open.

That said, Pathbreaker isn't the worst target for infinite, assuming you've got a decent number of non-toke creatures.
I second trying to pair him with Xenagos, God of Revels and additional combat phases via Savage Beating and the like. Craterhoof also sounds excellent.

I want to make a deck devoted to breaking Pathbreaker Ibex. The idea is to make a clone army of the mighty goat and then swing for exponential levels of damage, thousands or even millions of damage!
I really believe it's good to think you can use Pathbreaker Ibex as a finisher, I really do. But I think it's ridiculous that some players want to warp their entire deck around a card in their 99. Why don't you build a deck that has a theme in which Pathbreaker Ibex can fit, not the other way around. The commander and the theme come first, the combos/win-conditions come second. As much as you try to win with it, there'll be a lot of games where it gets removed or where you don't draw it, and if you base your entire deck around winning with that card, and you lose it, you're not going to have a good time or enjoy the game. What I suggest you do is pick a commander (preferably a token commander) which plays well with a lot of bodies and then include the big Goat as one of your potential finishers, not THE card in your deck. You can play something like Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice or Marath, Will of the Wild and then bolster your strategy with this card.
I actually briefly playtested it in my Prossh, Skyraider of Kher deck. With a haste enabler and Pathbreaker Ibex in play, the army would always deal upwards of fifty damage, which is usually enough to knock out at least a player or two by that point in the game. If attacking on the ground wasn't an option, you sacrificed all the tokens to Prossh, giving both him and the Goat +11/+11 until end of turn, and since Prossh would have 11 power after eating those tokens, it would be enough to defeat an opponent with commander damage outright. However, since it shared the CMC with Prossh, I ended up taking it out of the deck, but that is by no means a measure of how bad Pathbreaker Ibex is as much as it as a measure of how good Prossh, Skyraider of Kher is.
Well, there are a few decks that run like that. In fact there wasa thread here just a few days ago about it. Decks where the real commander is in the 99 because so many amazing cards are either not legendary or you need the colors afforded by a general. I'm running 5C Hermit Druid. My general could not matter less if I wanted it to. Any five color creature works.
Infinite Reflection is such a beautiful card that is generally considered too expensive and janky to play. But this is exactly the sort of thing it does perfectly.

Make infinite mana, make infinite clones. (Or on MTGO, make as much as you can stand clicking through it all.)
Dualcaster Mage + Rite of Replication can get you there too.

Step 2: Play Pathbreaker Ibex
Step 3: Realize that Fires is redundant, sacrifice it while the Wild Pair trigger is on the stack, targeting Ibex
Step 4: Fetch Craterhoof Behemoth into play
step 6: cackle maniacally
step 7: win.
I have a couple ideas to do this already:
1) Lots of creatures + Pathbreaker Ibex + Mirrorweave, swing for thousands.
2) Pathbreaker Ibex + kick'd Rite of Replication, not sure how much this is but it's still a lot.
3) Put the goat on top of your library somehow, for example Brainstorm / Worldly Tutor / Sylvan Tutor. Play Deceiver of Form with a ton of creatures.
How else can I break this card? So far my 3 options require me to be in Bant but we could go 5-colors if needed!
