I always wanted to see how good a 5-color hermit druid deck is so I built one. It's great for playtesting my other decks against and it's great for tournament day (which I never go to since I'm always working) but it's not something you want to play against your buddies with and mostly it's an expensive deck that collects dust. I plan to dismantle it.
Which leaves me with 10 duals, 10 fetches, various shocklands and 5-color lands, various tutors, mana crypt, etc etc. I'd like to turn this into something playworthy and I'm looking for suggestions. It could be one or two decks, such as 5-color slivers or a BUG and RW decks. I don't have a lot of money to spend.
I like decks that are powerful, fast, and have combo and aggro potential.
Maybe Child of Alara good stuff? Power out Child, blow up the world and then use your perfect manabase to cast bombs of all 5 colours. Very fun, not oppressive.
Saffi is cool but I already abuse her in my captain sisay deck.
I have considered a goodstuff deck but I don't know how competitive it would be. I like decks that have a lot of synergy, not random good cards thrown together.
A deck designed to repeatedly kill child of alara would be fun if it had indestructible/regenerating creatures. Although I haven't seen a deck like that before. Not sure how that would look - it'd probably focus on animating stuff from the graveyard.
Child of Alara control graveyard shenanigans is a very powerful deck.
But you've got a solid 5c manabase, so, clearly the answer is Slivers.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.
inb4 "send the deck on a viking funeral into a waterfall that falls into a volcano so it goes somewhere where it can never hurt anyone else"
But in all seriousness, there are many things you can do with a 5c land base. You could build another 5 color deck, i.e. 5 color goodstuff, allies, slivers, or something more creative and/or wacky.
Things I can think of off the top of my head that feel more creative (but also are inherently less competitive) and that I've always wanted to see someone play is "5 color options," where you run a bunch of charms/commands/"choose one" cards; 5 color cascade, where you can run every cascade spell ever so that every time you cast something you have the chance to cast 3 or 4 other things, and you can also run cards like Ancestral Visions to cascade into; 5 color reanimator, which opens you up to every reanimator target since you won't be restricted by color identity (and you'll be able to cast all of them with enough mana); 5 color primal surge where your only non-permanent is primal surge and have stuff in the deck that would win the game upon you resolving primal surge like Avenger/Craterhoof/Maelstrom Wanderer; and one that could use the most cards you have which would be "5 color strictly worse Hermit Druid" where instead of a fun-crushing one card combo, you tutor up some really awful (but so much more insulting to lose to) 4+ card rube goldberg combo.
Horde of Notions is a fun deck for 5c. Put any of the swords or any of the Shadowmoor/Eventide enchantment cycle (like Shield of the Oversoul) on him and you have a commander that can 3HKO with haste trample and vigilance. Add some control/goodstuff and a handfull of the best elementals (Mulldrifter :D) and you're good to go!

a very effective way to build a child of alara deck is to turn it into some sort of 'lands' deck (i.e. most your spell-like effects are stapled onto lands) and constantly wipe the board with child. your lands aren't touched, and you can factory beatdown all day long. however, things like tabernacle at pendrell vale aren't cheap.
