"And how did that work out last time?" asked Jace.
So I'm wondering how many people will try out Hedron Archive in their EDH decks, especially given that you can cash it in for 2 cards when you don't need the mana.
If you don't have green you're probably running some degree of colorless acceleration.
At the very least, Sisay's Ring/Ur-Golem's Eye already saw play in EDH (brown decks mostly) and this is nothing but an upgrade from those. I'm sure it'll see play.
Absolutely. Going into a bunch of my decks. It fits into ramp decks and artifact recursion decks really well. Unlike Mind Stone, this is actual card advantage. Unlike Dreamstone Hedron, you will actually cast it at a relevant point. Ramping from 4 to 7 is amazing. Going from 6 to 10 is overkill. .

Yep. This is all that needs to be said about this card.
[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.
At 4 CMC this card seems like it competes with Thran Dynamo. So then I guess I'm wondering do I want to tap for 3 colorless instead of just 2 or do I want to be able to sac for two cards?

Definitely draw 2; late game Thran Dynamo is a dead card barring some combo (Which honestly you should be running if you're that deep in colorless ramp), where as any combo Dynamo is a part of Hedron Archive could fill in for AND have a secondary function.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
Yeah, I think this compares favorably to Dynamo unless your threats cost a very specific amount.
I think it's likely better than Explosive Vegetation in decks that play that, as well, unless you're using a 4 mana spell to fix (hah) or (more likely) have land-doubling effects.
yea the draw 2 really pushes the archive over the top. cuz unlike things like the worn powerstone and whatnot, i wouldnt mind just cycling it late in the game when i dont need the extra mana and i cant do that with the powerstone.

Well right now I run both Dynamo and Worn Powerstone in my Kemba deck to help for casting/equipping costs of equipment and also getting enough mana to cast stuff like Iona and Avacyn which I also have in there. I'm definitely putting Hedron in for the added card draw, but which should I replace of those 2?

I'd drop Worn Powerstone. Sure it costs 2 less, but you can't use it until the turn after you cast it (barring any untapping shenanigans) and having the extra mana from Thran Dynamo can be good when you need big mana creatures late game. Being 2 short for Avacyn, Angel of Hope would suck

Depending on your equipment package, I would run Archive over Powerstone for sure. Dropping Archive and using the 2 for an equip cost seems much better than dropping the Powerstone and tying up all your mana for the turn on that one drop.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
This might go in my Avacyn deck actually as ramping into avacyn can be difficult. Also I may put it into Jhoira to help hardcast big spells. Muzzio should play this guy if you ask me.

Hedron Archive has been spoiled and it has me a bit torn on how good it might be. It seems like such a natural compliment to Mind Stone and Dreamstone Hedron to have something that lies right in the middle, but do we really need another Sisay's Ring or Ur-Golem's Eye? I don't see many deck even running Thran Dynamo except for things like Arcum Dagsson, Bosh, Iron Golem or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre kind of decks, but colorless ramp seems like less of a thing for most decks.

Run this over Worn Powerstone?
