Currently, the Variant Decklist subforum (which is linked above) is the best place for actual Tiny Leaders decklists and the occasional meta discussion. However, many users here will post general discussions about a general or format here in the main forum area (as long as it isn't deck list discussion). The search function would probably help if you're going to search here in the main forum area.
I enjoy the format most of the time, but not all the time. Here are some thoughts:
Pros:
- Singleton format
- deck-building restrictions makes unique gameplay
- build around a commander
- Fast games
- Sideboarding
Cons:
- Format warped around certain generals
- Format warped around blue
- 49 card deck is small and makes games repetitive despite being singleton
- banlist has needed an update for a long time
I would really like to seen True-Name Nemesis banned. I shouldn't have to dedicate multiple sideboard cards to manage a single creature. Especially that red can't deal with TNN. Geist of Saint Traft is a very oppressive general, and has lead about 40% of the competitive decks I have played against in tournaments. It is hard to deal with Geist, and with TNN added to the mix, and the huge amount of efficient blue counterspells, it becomes very difficult to play against this deck. I say ban TNN, but maybe banning Geist as commander would work. Something has to be done to decrease the representation of this deck in the format.
I would like to see the banned as commander list expanded, but maybe that is an unpopular opinion. I like a format with diversity, and I find that Anafenza, the Foremost greatly impedes diversity by wrecking Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and Athreos, God of Passage, and other graveyard-based decks. My friend built a great Athreos deck that he cannot really play in tournaments because Anafenza is very popular. I like graveyard hate in the form of cards that go in the deck/sideboard, not the Command Zone.
Anyway, most of my complaints are about the format being a bit stale due to the dominance of certain generals and the color blue. I think the banlist should be used to diversify the format.
Arcbond on a different creature the TNN player controls (then deal damage to that other creature). Heat Stroke if TNN is being used as a blocker. Aura Barbs if TNN is getting loaded up with enchantments (of course, if the enchantments are boosting TNN's toughness by 2 or more on average, it won't be enough). Puppet's Verdict and lose the coin flip. Breaking Point when your opponent can't/isn't willing to take 6 damage. Powder Keg after 3 turns.
None of them are great answers (some of them are actually pretty bad), but options exist. There are probably others, as well.
I am currently playing a Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck that has been very fun.
I have been wanting to try out Thassa, God of the Sea and Athreos, God of Passage they seem like the could be very powerful.
