there is probably a lot you can do with it.. did you have a sort of build in mind archetype-wise? i'd imagine that control would be the go-to, though it might be interesting trying to make an aggro-control build. throw in a couple of big beaters, some filter/draw effects, some counterspell backing plus capsize, and you're golden
Spellshapers in general can have a lot of utility, as not only do they feed graveyard decks, but let you convert extra lands/useless cards into new effects (Shattering Spree loses some value when your opponent is artifactless Ruric Thar, the Unbowed). With regards to Alexi in particular, she loses some value in being a spellshaper rather than a wizard, but if you can keep her fed with mana/cards, Unsummon with Replicate can be a potent reactive effect. Her casting cost can be a bit of an issue as well, so it may take a turn or two to get her online, at which point a well placed Evacuation/Cyclonic Rift may well do much of the same if you aren't built to fully exploit her...
I have a Nin, the Pain Artist deck I keep trying to finish putting together that is based on mass haste. Dropping Alexi in with haste on the backbone of a heavy draw based commander seems like she could operate as a mass defense based bounce.
Ideally with Alexi you want to be focusing on flash and or haste in my opinion and you want a good base of card draw to offset her discard.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Alexi looks like she could be pretty fun. She's capable of killing tokens and generating massive tempo swings. She probably loves casting Windfall, Time Spiral, and Memory Jar. I'm sure she's also best buds with all of the various Ophidians in the game, since Alexi wants cards and Ophidians want to connect with your opponents' faces. Dismiss Into Dream is expensive, but savage in conjunction with Alexi.

i love windfall effects however things like timetwister are too expensive what are some cheaper alternitives or other stratagies
With Alexi one of the big things to grab is infinite mana. Being able to bounce every creature your opponents control is very, very good. Especially if you have Mulldrifter.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5

easy enough and really you don't need infinite mana 20+ with untaps would essentially do the same thing

*insert stupid semantic argument about how infinite isn't possible and it's arbitrarily large so what I actually meant was just enough*
But yeah, for sure. Gauntlet/Sun help a lot, but it's so easy to get infinite mana that there's no reason not to be able to.

ur right this is a dumb argument
what else besides infinite mana helps her
so far we have cycling effects
draw on hit effects
Spellshapers in general are great for fueling graveyard shenanigans. Sexy Alexi has been a recurring pick in both my discard-draw damia and mimeoplasm. Sometimes drawing and selectively discarding can be more effective than mass milling, especially if you have access to the efficient draw effects of blue.
Kruphix is a good place for her too.
She's a pretty good rattlesnake if your opponents don't have removal for her on hand, serving to hinder a lot of alpha strike decks.
Not only that but she's not exactly what I'd call a "priority target". Yeah she's got good utility and removal, but I always feel fine when an enemy burns precious removal on her.

if you like her how would you play her.
i'd probably utilise a bit of graveyard-based shenanigans with some other spellshapers (specifically waterfront bouncer, trickster mage, toymaker, stronghold mechanist/biologist, overtaker and dreamscape artist), having things with flashback/retrace/threshold/unearth or activated when in graveyards (deep analysis, fatestitcher) kinda helps too.
might wanna put in a laboratory maniac as a plan B as well?
Legacy - Solidarity - mono U aggro - burn - Imperial Painter - Strawberry Shortcake - Bluuzards - bom
RRR - Bosh's School of Hard(cover) Knocks
