I've been away for college, and just learned of the Khans of Tarkir clan leaders, and Sidisi, Brood Tyrant really caught my eye. She seems to have a really cool ability, and I managed to pull one from a pack! So I want to convert my old Varolz scavenge and self mill to work around
I want to, but at the same time I'm a bit confused as to how a deck with her would work. Obviously it would include a good amount of self mill and tokens, but would it tend to be a relatively high control deck? Black control through removal, blue control through counters? Or would all three colors pretty much just work towards the goal of mass zombie token army? I feel like I would definitely start to experience some heavy removal from my opponents.
I've already made some cuts from the Varolz deck, and here I'm only gonna post additions, both current and planned. There is no actual decklist right now, mainly just a pile of cards that has me a bit overwhelmed, at least until I can figure out what applications of each color and overall direction I want to take this thing in. I'm aslso unsure as to whether I should include the scavenge mechanic in this deck, or if it wouldn't work as well with Sidisi's zombie token and slef mill ability. Both scavenge and Sidisi rely on self mill so I let them stay in the list of cards below.
My advice would be to be careful of the self mill because of how Sidisi produces tokens (Oracle Text):
"Any instruction, including Sidisi’s first ability, that tells you to put multiple cards from a library into a graveyard moves all the cards at the same time. For example, if Sidisi enters the battlefield and you put three creature cards into your graveyard, Sidisi’s last ability will trigger once and you’ll put one Zombie token onto the battlefield."
Right now it seems your deck list has a couple of themes that are fighting for dominance, token generation and reanimation. While the two aren't mutually exclusive, they don't have a lot of cards for overlap. Before trimming, or before we can give suggestions, knowing what you want to emphasize is important. For example, a reanimator/discard strategy is also a primary engine for card advantage while a token theme may need cards to draw/manipulate the library for that express purpose.
I'm sure all the lovely people here will be more than willing to help once you've settled on a theme/idea though.
Well, I'd like to use her for her self mill abilities to produce tokens, and since she's milling anyways, I thought that scavenge and rampant +1/+1 counters would work equally well with it. THis would give me different means of winning rather than pure token swarm. I was thinking of incorporating my simic sage of hours deck into this self mill scavenge too, but I'm not sure. I could easily scavenge all those creatures onto sage of hours, then take several turns by doubling them with solidarity of heroes. I just don't want it to become to much of a mess. THe tokens could be multiplied with parallel lives too.
Over the last week I have played this deck a good 5 times and have yet to lose. However I was thinking, how would this deck fare if I was to keep the self mill but also have a decent amount of infect in the deck. I understand that I risk losing many of my friends because of this. I currently run a grafted exoskeleton, which I absolutely love. And with the amount of mill and retrieval I have in this deck, i haven't played a single match where I haven't been able to buff sidisi up with various cards, give her unblockable via either Rogue's Passage, aqueous form, whispersilk cloak, swiftfoot boots, or artful dodge and easily swing for game in a single turn. However I would like some more control and keep the pressure high by putting in infect. What are some recommended additions and do you guys think it's a good idea to even take this deck in that direction?
