Xenagos is really high on power level. While I think it's true that he lends the most to a Goodstuff build, Goodstuff being big creatures at least, on the other hand having such a flexible general means that the trick is tweaking it. Just about every slot can be changed and subtly upgraded, and it's rewarding when you get it right for the group you play with.
Radha is ok, but I think her being noticed is just because of how so many players punt their Turn 2's. Think of it as you getting a hand of 8 cards. She'll always get cast for 2, but pretty much never for 4.
Stonebrow is decent for tokens, same with Thromok. Borborygmos never gets cast more than once either, generally, so he's either a beating when no one has an answer or a complete bore when they do. Fairly average on power-level, all around.
To me, the only problem with ruric is that he forced to attack, if you can get around that, then he'd be a killing machine so long as you keep hom protected with Asceticism and Archetype of Endurance. Thromok is way too dependent on creatures being on the field for my tastes, and xenagod loves stuff like Hellspark Elemental and is best suited for duels than multiplayer since he only pumps one creature.
Xenaogs, god of revels is by far the best gruul commander ever. Run global trample effects and then run the fattest creatures you can find. It is also one of the cheapest decks to put together.
I just wanted to chime in and note that while Xenagod is very good as a generic aggro general, he's also quite good as a general for an infect deck. Those tiny infect guys get a lot more dangerous with him around, and the already-dangerous ones like Putrefax and Spinebiter become huge threats.

That seems.... very fun and cheap, i might look into that myself

It can take a couple turns to get rolling, but once you start adding in effects to give extra combat steps, double strike and so forth, it gets scary quick.
There really is no other Gruul general that bring the same level of power to the table as Stangg. I mean, you're probably going to win with an Overrun effect and STANGG IS TWO CREATURES.
I think there's a lot of playability to Atarka, World Render. I mean, she's an automatic two turn clock that is in a color pair with access to most dragons. Even without dragons and the God of Revels, she'd make a fine finisher in an RG deck.

I can honestly say, playing Borborygmos Enraged is one of the most fun EDH experiences there is. And I'm usually a control player.
I completely agree with this. My friend had a Bobo deck with some crazy Life from the Loam synergy. It was powerful and it was a blast to play. Yes it requires a bit of build around but still plenty of room for customization.
IF you want a no-frills Gruul Commander, Xenagod is really the best and exemplifies what Gruul wants.
Smash face!!!
In multiplayer, it's all about multi-face-smashing. Hydra Omnivore!
I'll agree with this and atarka being a great general, she opens up a lot of nice options for gruul dragons, it makes me want to put together something for her, I'll post it when I get it done
It's kind of silly that this thread was slightly-necroed by a suggestion worse than Ulasht, the Hate Seed. (Which I feel is basically just a worse Marath. Sorry Ulasht fans.)
I ended up going with Xenagod. The sheer power of being able to drop a win con every turn and just keep smashing until everyone is dead is exactly the kind of gruul I wanted. It's like a simpler version of my Horde of Notions deck.
Feel free to continue discussion, but don't expect to change my mind now that the deck is built and performing well.
Also if I'm going to play a dragon in my General slot it's either the Jund one or Scion, and probably Scion. Not to mention I'm still butthurt about getting molested by Atarka, Anus Render with Hero's blade at pre-release. If I make a dragon deck she'll be in, but I need a while without her doing unspeakable things to me before I can play her.

I've played several Gruul commanders in my day, and it's one of my favorite color combinations. The two I'd like to second here are Thromok the Insatiable and Stonebrow, Krosan Hero. They are both immensely fun and have a theme you can really run with. Stonebrow is great for massive beaters. Having a boatload of creatures with trample is just really satisfying to hit people with. My Thromok deck had a pretty solid token theme, as devour allows, and would frequently be able to kill a player or two in a single turn when combined with Warstorm Surge and Fling. That deck was a little meaner and really could come out of nowhere.

Probably because you can't play him as a commander...

She's that 2-mana rock you always wanted.
