So this was originally going to be a jund or naya deck, but I was quite easily persuaded to make the switch to animar by Dire Wombat and World_Peace, and what was going to originally be a hydra tribal has kind of ended up as a theme deck. Beasts vs Machines kind of set up, but with hydras being the main win con and stars of the show, this is the list I have so far, any suggestions or advice is welcome
Mana Confluence became Opal Palace due to being cheaper $ wise and so I don't have to pay life for tapping as well as greatly helping him gain counters
Horned Helm became Soulbright Flamekin due to giving multiple creatres trample, as well as adding mana back to the mana pool
Bramblecrush became Terastadon as it is a creature for animar, and does the same thing but hits multiple targets.
Became Hinder, Spellcrumple, Bane of Progress and Reclamation Sage
Since xenagod only pumps one creature at a time, it's not worth risking him as a bad top deck and ruining him in my head
Meanderer is good at what it does, but there aren't enough x costs to be worth the spot
And 6 mana for 2 artifacts/enchantments or 6 for all and a big fatty as well, hopefully I won't have many of my own on the field when I drop a bane.
The sage replaced scourge due to a more immediate board impact, and scourge possibly not having anything worth sacrificing to it at any given time.
Wouldn't Naya make more sense? Jund is about survival of the fittest. Naya is about huge creatures. All I think about with Hydras are how big they are.

I'm only on the flavor train as far as creatures go, after that, I'm wanting it to be about supporting the hydras as efficiently as possible. That's where I was wanting the help.
That is probably one of the few exceptions to non hydras I'd make, that is pretty beastly, he'd be great for Green Sun's Zenith as well as Clan Defiance
I'd say just run gruul so you can use Xenagos, God of Revels as your commander. Hydras typically suffer from the absence of haste and trample more so than any other tribe just because you often times spend so much mana into them and then they just die before it loses summoning sickness. With Xenagos, you get haste, trample and double your mana's worth in a general. Seems the best to me.

I was thinking you could just run him in the deck also. Next to good old Fires of Yavimaya. And if you run Naya you could also get Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor to get them into your hand.

I was thinking of using him as well, but he doesn't give trample. I was thinking of the black or white as shoring up a few weak spots of gruul. Using black for tutoring my non creatures and removal and white for exiling/protection as well as a few tutors
So it's more of a casual group? What I'm looking to build should be fun in a casual setting but won't get wrecked in cut throat

It would be a 0/0. Copies only copy the printed stats on a creatue.
Well, thereare spme hydras he can copy that would still be useful, plus the first ability would always come in handy, if not him then maybe Surrak Dragonclaw, he does give trample, which hydras need, and he makes them uncounterable which is a plus
I'd need more ways to put counters on them to make use of his ability, but green is pretty good at that. Arethere more ways in black? Cause as it is, I'm now lening towards temur for Kruphix, God of Horizons and Prophet of Kruphix so I can store mana and cast huge hydras

Flash means you can at anytime push through damage with his trample granting and U lets you fix your card drawing, as well as throwing Prophet in to give your hydras pseudo haste. Besides, with hydras being the majority of your creatures you're going to starve Riku of the mana he really needs.
