I've been thinking about a voltron deck for some time, but the usual choices (Rafiq, Siguarda, Bruna, Uril, etc) always seemed to linear in their strategy. With Sliver Hivelord out I was thinking about something different than allmyslivers.deck for him. I plan to use some slivers that give evasion/durability, but not the incremental buff ones, relying on equipment instead.
Being new to the voltron archetype, I would appreciate some guidance in filling out the rest of my deck.
I'm assuming a Stoneforge Mystic/Steelshaper's Gift suite of the various Swords of X and Y is a good starting point. I'd also want some good hexproof instants to prevent tuck/exile. Homeward Path will probably be a good card along with Sylvan Scrying and Crop Rotation to find it; with those two I should also include Kessig Wolf Run and some other utility lands. So, what can you suggest?
Also I wouldn't go to over board with the sliver theme. When I first saw the Hivelord I envisioned him at the helm of a 5 color control deck that played all good stuff and used him as a hard to kill finisher. I would suggest focusing more of your efforts on finding all the other good 5 color stuff to voltron out with. I'm sure there's got to be a few voltron Cromat and Child of Alara lists to look through.
I think I kept the amount of slivers rather slim. I've hit the main points that a voltron deck wants (I assume): Evasion, haste, protection of your general. Manaweft and Gemhide are just decent mana dorks that synergize. Necrotic and Harmonic are probably the two best overall slivers; they are both playable as the only slivers in a deck.
I'll admit I'm a bit wary about Hunter Sliver since it really requires me to have a few other slivers down to clear the way for Hivelord. Also, I'm not sure if Crystalline is a good idea since shroud prevents equipping and I only have 3 ways to get rid of it (Necrotic, Firewake, and Hibernation) if it becomes an impediment.
Ward Sliver seems overcosted for its effect since I only really care about 1 sliver. All of the other ones I plan on using have CMC 4 or less.
Sunforger and Worldslayer are excellent ideas. As for Magma Sliver, my thought is he might be too reliant on other slivers. Alone he's just a +2/+0. I suppose he gets exponentially better with more slivers, going to a total +6/+0 with a 3rd sliver down. He's probably worth considering.
How would Cataclysm work in Voltron? I figure if I keep a protection equipment and float some mana for an evasion sliver/equipment is can just seal the game for me.
Also, are there any auras worth considering? I see a lot of the Zen block Umbras in voltron decks, but their main draw is the pseudo-indestructibility protection, and I don't really need that.
I plan to run the following slivers:
1 Belligerent Sliver
1 Galerider Sliver
1 Horned Sliver
1 Hunter Sliver
1 Shadow Sliver
1 Shifting Sliver
1 Two-headed Sliver
1 Winged Sliver
1 Blur Sliver
1 Firewake Sliver
1 Heart Sliver
1 Reflex Sliver
Protection:
1 Crystalline Sliver
1 Hibernation Sliver
1 Diffusion Sliver
1 Bonescythe Sliver
Utility
1 Gemhide Sliver
1 Harmonic Sliver
1 Homing Sliver
1 Manaweft Sliver
1 Necrotic Sliver

Sure, I'd love to look through some sample decklists. It couldn't hurt.
