The other day I cast a pongify on my friends commander, Intet. The Intet was sent to the exile zone, and the next turn my friend recast her for the 8 mana. However, as he pointed out, the ape token was still in play, and flavor-wise, Intet was never really killed, she was just turned into a monkey, so really she shouldn't be able to be recast, since her body was really still on the battlefield.
This caused us to change the rules to pongify:
"Flip over target creature. That creature becomes a 3/3 green Ape creature."
The creature goes back to normal when it hits the grave. So far we haven't encountered any problems with this rule change.
Has anyone else made any rule changes with their playgroup regarding Vorthos flavor?
Just trying to figure out simple house rules such what happens to commanders with hide-away effects such as Fiendhunter (we are currently just using them as one-shot exile spells on the commanders, no hiding). They currently hate Oloro with all their might, so not many more EDH games will be in our future anyway.

Would the version previous to that be more appropriate though?
Yeah, we never actually made the change to the new legendary rules cuz we thought they were silly.
