Specifically to people who are better at math/land bases than I am: how many non-basic lands can I play without getting blown out by my own Back to Basics? I just ordered the card for my Vendilion Clique flash deck and I'm running 12 non-basics with 25 Islands. I feel like that's too many. My friends run ridiculously greedy mana bases and three mana on my turn is an infinitesimal cost to a table-wide scoop. If it helps, I would be fine with playing Back to Basics and have like one or two lands be tapped forever and five or more Islands untapping normally.
Are you running multiple BtB and count on casting it every game, or is it just a "sometimes" card in your deck (assuming you are main decking BtB)?
It will definitely be a "sometimes" card. I didn't think to put that in the OP but thanks for pointing it out. I only have two tutors in the deck: Mystical Tutor and Long-Term Plans, so I basically have Plans and Back to Basics itself as my two ways of getting the card out.
Looks like you're only running 10 non basics that generate mana (tolaria is a tutor that probably never hits the field and ith doesn't generate mana). I think 10 is good if you're playing against greedy mana bases.
[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.

Cool, thank you for taking a look at my list!

I love Back to Basics in mono U! I actually run the same land count as you, with 25 Islands and 12 nonbasics. I get around the "Bluination" effect because the majority of the nonbasics are fetch lands, so they just sac anyway when you tap them. There's only three lands in the deck that are meaningfully affected: Reliquary Tower, Maze of Ith and Riptide Laboratory. I don't usually have a precedent for them and the enchantment to be out at the same time.
I guess what I'm getting at is it really just depends on what your nonbasics are. I realized that I had accidentally built around Back to Basics, so I included it, because it is a powerful effect against certain decks (Child of Alara lol)
I've run it before in tri-color. So definitely any mono-color can work it. If even Wildfire effects are good, B2B is way better than those. Is this single or multi?
The question also isn't just about what your count looks like but your typical land count on your opponent's side look like. As long as the effect will jirt them more than you I say go for it.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
