I have counterspells obviously but I don't always have them. my deck is based around having a stack of hate enchantments that well... attracts hate so I tend to lose enough life points that these persistant burn effects kill me first. I don't really want to run cards that only gain me life, they would have to have some other effects.
Unfortunately, if the cards don't target you, there's not much that can stop them. Your options are generally to counter the spell, gain enough life so that it doesn't affect you that badly, or prevent the damage. Sphere of Law is a pretty funny card for the last category, as it can prevent the damage from all of Purphoros and Nekusar's triggers, but that's about all it accomplishes. Urza's Armor is a little more general-purpose, while still shutting down Nekusar, but won't do much against big X spells.
Exsanguinate is particularly bad, because it's lifeloss and not damage, so it's very difficult to counteract. Pretty much your only options here are to counter it or gain life. In the Eye of Chaos is pretty funny, as it effectively halves the effectiveness of X sorceries, but again, pretty narrow.

Batterskull adds some good solid lifegain to a lot of control decks for me. I like it even more since it would allow you to attack out with your commander while being able to block still if they were to attack. It has some synergy with white's equipment tutors as well which is nice.
unfortunately as fun as that card is.. it would lock me out pretty hard... i don't enjoy playing twice as much for my things whille my opponents just play creatures.

I assume this is in reference to In the Eye of Chaos?
I kind of assumed you were playing a Pillowfort kind of deck, which relies heavily on Enchantments that wouldn't be hurt too badly by this.
Also Derp, thought In the Eye was Sorcery Only, turns out it's Instants Only. Squeeze is the one that helps against Sorceries, but it doesn't cut them down nearly as much.

and I don't know why I didn't already have Prahv since my deck is practically an azorus theme deck.(all basics are RTR)
They don't really help against Purphoros/mogis/neku/vortex however, I'd need something like Kiora's ability to prevent all damage from a perminate or some incidental life gain (other than against vortex). Whats the best life gain cards, preferably with another useful ability?
My deck isn't propaganda pillow fort people have too much mana in EDH for it to be effective plus isperia wants to be attacked by lots of little things. It is more Counters, Boardwipes and Hate. Then lots of ETB creatures and enablers for that and finally I tend to win by stealing my opponents stuff in a lot of ways its a little confused in its identity.
I am looking for cards in UW to deal with being burnt out.. particularly for the non targeted kind.
e.g exsanguinate, molten disaster, Purphoros, God of the forge, Phthisis, Hurricane, Nekusar, the Mindrazer, sulfuric vortex

Sword of War and Peace isn't bad for lifegain either.
Sphinx's Revelation draw plus lifegain.
True Conviction acts as a big anthem plus it usually comes with big piles of lifegain.
Loxodon Warhammer its ok, a little more budget friendly but doesnt seem to fit control decks as well either.

prahv, spires of order prevents damage from any source, as does righteous aura.
Angel's grace is a great save from a lot of things, as is invulnerability.

Harsh Judgment
EDIT: And the best part? Neither are very expensive, including Reverberation.
