I am looking for a repeatable graveyard creature removal option for my Polukranos deck. I am considering the two cards above.
Scavenging Ooze
Pros - CMC 2
Unrestricted card selection, but bonus for hitting a creature
Creature that interacts with Mutant's Prey
Minor Life Gain
Cons - Fragile, being a creature
Activation is one Green, not colorless
Night Soil
Pros - CMC 2
Hit multiple cards per activation
Token Generation
Enchantment, not as fragile as a creature
Colorless activation
Cons - Targeting restriction, requires two targets in the same graveyard and must be creatures
Double Green casting cost
Not a creature, doesn't interact as well with most of the cards in the deck
Now, I've never used either card in different decks. Considering that I'm only looking to remove creatures from graveyards (other stuff is also great), which card would you recommend?
I have a soft spot for Night Soil, so I'm gonna recommend that. Additionally, in EDH creatures seem to have a short lifespan while enchantments live forever. If you were running this in a G/B reanimator list, then I'd recommend Scooze, but since you're running mono-green, I'll have to come down on the side of Night Soil.
I say try to find room for both if you can, they're both great. I'm leaning towards Ooze because green can find, protect and recur creatures better than anything. It also gets out of control very quickly and exiles anything, so it can stop Sharuum combos and Snapcaster and stuff like that. That said, Nightsoil exiles more stuff faster and won't die nearly as often. Grave hate is one of those things that is pretty underplayed and is good against almost every deck, so I think you should find room for hoth.
I'm a big fan of Night Soil. It can randomly hose reanimator decks that don't pack much enchantment removal, and the number of times it will save your life with a surprise chump blocker is not to be underestimated. Not being able to remove non-creatures could be problematic, but it sounds like stopping reanimation is your main concern, in which case I think Night Soil is the better choice.
Night Soil has long been a favorite of mine in the format. In fact, it was in the first batch of cards that I ever had altered, just so I could put it into an otherwise-pimpy deck. The targeting restriction is the biggest downside, but I don't think it's that bad since you can pick your spots.
Night Soil is great, but I find it more useful in token-based decks. For general use, I think Scoozey there does a better job, but I also really, really like Night Soil.

Night soil's exiling is a cost, so it can't be countered.
