How do you feel about playing with someone using Collector's Edition cards? Do you just consider them fancy proxies?
The answer is probably "depends on the play group" or "always ask before playing", but how do you personally feel about this?
I recently purchased a Collector's Edition Timetwister just because I just can't bring myself to spend ~$400 for an Unlimited version (~$800 for a Beta) and $50 was more in my price range. If I sat down to play a game with you, would you ask me to take it out?
I figure that I should always just ask and keep the Time Spiral which I've been using with me to side in as a replacement.
I guess I consider them as expensive proxies. I don't mind playing against them, but personally I don't like the gold borders so I wouldn't play them myself.

I'm still waiting for it in the mail, but I believe they have black borders in the front and only gold in the back. I'm using opaque sleeves so the gold will never show. (They also have square corners.)
(There was a different product that was released in the past that had gold borders in the front with round corners.)
Well, in retrospect, if they have a problem with you using "not real" cards that were printed by WOTC, and have actual face value, then they can shove it. It's not like they can call over the EDH rules judge, and have you infracted, or anything like that. I'd play them with pride, to be honest.
My friend is a judge and he spend boatloads of money on artist-proof Zenlands for his EDH. I don't see the problem so long as the proxies are not with a sharpie.
I don't mind at all. We play plenty of proxies in our group anyways, though mostly for testing the ideal of our deck before actually ordering the cards. The only "permanent" Proxy I use is a gaea's cradle, for one deck. And I went out of my way to make a nice foil proxy, because honestly my proxies bug me more than my opponents, most of the time. Dumb little slips of paper from magiccards.info.

CE, World Champsionship proxies I can allow since they have gone through printing by Wizards. The only proxies I disagree with, and with my playgroup similarly, are "rip-a-piece-of-paper-and-write-the-name-of-the-card-and-a-vague-description-of-what-it-does" proxies, as well as illegal/counterfeit prints.

Just like any other proxy. If I'm not using proxies of expensive cards and you are, the reason I am getting trashed may be obvious. If "proxies are okay" is in effect, then no big deal.
Results of the poll are kind of what I expected. Most people are okay with it, but not all.
I do plan on eventually picking up an Unlimited Timetwister one of these days just because I've never owned any of the Power 9 and I'm currently liquidating most of my mtg collection, so I'll have the cash to finish off my current (and last?) Commander deck.
IMO Anybody who complains about world championship cards cares too much about winning. Recently a guy in our group bought a CE Cradle for $20 bucks. We could not have been happier for him. At the end of the day, not everyone can throw the same amount at their hobby. I consider it a respect issue.
I've had tons of experience with CE/IE cards over the years. They look like betas with sharp square corners and are gold bordered on the back only.
World champ decks have gold borders (and usually a player autograph) on the face of the card.
If my group *wasn't* OK with proxies, I'd round the corners of the CE cards i had that I intended to keep forever and triple-sleeve the deck and play with it anyway. Done properly, they're largely indidistinguishable from Alpha/Beta - but only from the front.

It's all about the play for me. CE, champ cards, and even a few paper slips over cards are fine with me. I certainly wish all the cards had art, but even that's not a necessity. With real cards or proxies, the point is to have fun.
Bad losers—this includes those who think that proxies for expensive cards should be prohibited because they paid through the nose for their real copies—have issues with proxies. "I wish I had a proxy Force of Will for each deck; I'd never lose." Sure, buddy. You sure would not.
I'm fine with playing against them. I wouldn't use them (it jut adds to the price tag of getting the real version, and I would be intending to own the real version at some point) but there's no problem playing them in my book. Some of them can cost a good chunks of money on their own, anyways.
Back home we didn't do proxies, but CE and World's deck cards were fine. I never thought about it till now, but that is a little weird. So I asked an old friend why that was and they said that someone at some point in time actually talked to someone involved in EDH rules committee and they said they were totally fine with considering gold bordered cards as real cards, not as proxies. It was in the spirit of the format to be loose about some things to improve availability without completely removing the restriction your personal collection has on deck building. He also said that is why so many gold bordered cards retain some value, because they are EDH legal.
Again I'm hearing this 3rd hand at this point, but what does anyone think about That idea?
I would think that most people would not have a problem with CE cards.
I kinda wish they would go back and print some of the Reserved List as a new CE product to get around their stupid reserved list policy. They wouldn't be "tournament legal", but most EDH players, 10-proxy Vintage, and casual Legacy players wouldn't care.
I would absolutely not care about Collector's Edition proxies. As stated, they're official WOTC product and look really good, especially in black sleeves.
And this is coming from one who bought a Mana Crypt, Forcefield (Unlimited), and Mana Drain, among other expensive cards.
CE cards are ideal for EDH in my opinion, and as such I use them quite a lot (it's the only way I could afford a Forcefield) and wouldn't mind playing against them at all.
The same goes for world championship decks and artist proofs in all honesty - they're all printed by WotC and in opaque sleeves are indistinguishable from regular cards.
This. They're made almost exclusively for the casual player, yea? They're as legit as any other "special" printing if they aren't discernable from the back. I have a bunch that I've always played with in any number of local groups, and no one cares. I specifically bought a pack a long time ago when I was having trouble finding a fourth Reflecting Pool.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.

this would be the greatest day ever!
edit: as far as CE/Worlds cards go I'm fine with them. Plan to pick up a cradle and a fetch or two soon because the real ones are just too damn expensive.
[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.
CE dont bother me i mean most the more powerful spells are like tens of dollars anyway so idm that $40 gauntlet of might you did kind of pay for it. i do however mind a paper proxie Tabernacle. that gets annoying real quick
