I've been putting together a Progenitus deck that is slightly themed toward mostly multicolored cards (Pillar of the Paruns inspired this) and towards cards that look very pretty (foil Channel the Suns inspired). But I'm not 100 percent towards building just a theme deck, I want it to compete at a decent level. The deck is pretty heavy in the Wrath department, most of which are Sorcery speed (I think the only exception is Jund Charm, kinda, and Comet Storm, which is almost like board sized removal).
I was looking through my multicolored rares and found a foil Hypersonic Dragon that I apparently own. It fits the multicolored theme, and it really fits the 'very pretty' theme, but I'm not sure how well it can compete.
So, what I would like is some input on how well Hypersonic Dragon would do in a deck like mine. I get that you don't have a list, and I understand that you don't know my meta or anything like that, but I just need some basic opinion on how the card has helped/disappointed you. Does it really deserve a slot?
He's good in a spellslinger deck. Nothing beats eot ponders. But I'm not sure if he's what you probably need. I mean, you specifically said you are looking for ways to make your board wipes faster, and Hypersonic Dragon only does it once. Vedalken Orrery would work better, even if it's not multicolored?
In general, he's unimpressive because, frankly, he dies a lot. His stats aren't anything super impressive in EDH and he only gives sorceries flash. If he was Orrery on a dude, that'd be better and worth the investment he takes. As it is, he costs five, you might get one piece of value out of him, then he dies to either directed removal or to incidental wraths. Additionally, I have to say that if you want instant-speed wrath effects, plenty of other choices are out there. Starstorm, Rout, Leyline of Anticipation, and Vedalken Orrery all seem more helpful for this purpose than Hypersonic Dragon, however cool he looks.
All that said though, he has a few upsides. He's cool looking, always a plus. He's a dude and if you need/can make use of the dude part primarily, then he's your flash-dragon. Finally, he probably generates less hate than Orrery, since he only hits sorceries and Orrery (at least around my area) has a reputation for allowing busted stuff to happen.
I tried him for a long time, and I really wanted to like him, but he was just terrible. The truth of the matter is, there aren't so many Sorceries worth playing in the absence of Hypersonic Dragon that desperately want flash.
So, Threaten is pretty cool if you play HD, but if you don't have HD in play, you'd rather Threaten be one of its instant cousins with a slight drawback, like Blind with Anger or Ray of Command. So you build your deck accordingly, and then... it's like HD does nothing.
At the end of the day, HD's impact becomes minimal as you pick cards that are more versatile or can have a more critical impact (i.e. are instants in red and blue).
He works in my Intet, the Dreamer EDH deck because it's one of the few dragon creatures with haste and the other effect is an added bonus. He's still not exactly the prime time player of my deck though.

That's what I was afraid of. It's not that I'm looking for a way to make Wrath effects instant speed, its just a selling point. The thing I like is that he draws a lot less hate than Orrery and Leyline, which are in just about every deck in my meta, and get hated on pretty bad. I've Nevermore'd my fair share of Orrery for one year, and it's still January.
The dragon has the potential if you badly need another Flash enabler. However, most decks don't need more on top of Vedalken Orrery and Leyline of Anticipation. These two also give flash to your general - an EOT Hydra is awesome.
the Dragon could draw less hate, but when you're putting him in with instant-speed sweepers as your selling point, you might as well just run Quicken instead.
Here's the thing: If you're wrath heavy all he does is let you blow him up a bit sooner or later. He's hardly known for being a good way to cast wraths given his whole "being a creature" thing.
Sure if you don't have Omniscience in hand you'll get it, but what deck that tries to play Omniscience can't get it in their hand by the time they have 10 mana available?
By the way, I'd suggest switching your general to Child of Alara. For a deck focusing on what sounds like instants and sorceries he's a very solid choice, even more-so if you have a copy of High Market and/or other sac-lands.
If you're looking for a 5c deck that wins via fat creatures in epic fashions, check the link in my sig.
It also has some of the many reasons progenitus is a sub-optimal commander. You'll most likely find him underwhelming, but feel free to test for yourself.

Hypersonic Dragon is one of those cards that just don't seem to work out like you hope. I've tried it in a couple decks and always ended up taking it out for something else. Even in Nin Spellslinger, which would seem like a natural fit, the Dragon was a dud.
Sorcery is a narrow card type to grant flash to. Chances are, your deck either wants the body with the flash sorceries as added value or it wants the flash enabler. Seems like your deck is better off with a better 5c flier to attack with or a Leyline of Anticipation/Vedalken Orrery

Just run Leyline of Anticipation, and if you were add in Vedalken Orrery.
To the guy who said "EoT Enter the Infinite -> Omniscience on your turn." Wouldn't it be much easier to cast or cheat in Omniscience and then play Enter the Infinite for free?
