Im really annoyed by deckbuilders everywhere( well mostly here :D)
That build with stereotypes and dont try different things.
They just dont fully enjoy magic that way!
Some things that i find very very wrong ... and they constantly pop up, and just make me cringe/ want to reply in each thread mentioning them, but they just make me sick
AGGRO(zoo/suicide/weenie etc etc) isn't dead/bad in commander! it doesn't die to a board wipe. You just have to work around the weaknesses of the deck, have great synergy etc etc,oh wait that means you cant copy paste decks. MEH...
YOU DONT NEED RAMP TO BE EFFECTIVE!
Yes, green and ramp in general is very strong/effective in commander!
Does that mean that B/R/W/U (non monocolored) coupled or tricolored have to cry in a corner? NOT AT ALL! you just have to think how you want your deck to plan out ,
dont just run mana rocks because you "NEED" mana ramp in your deck... maybe your deck plan needs it (like 4 mana threads in turn 3 . sure!) but not all decks need mana rocks to function!
examples : grixis colors? Not much ramp there, what you gonna do?just control the game with instants and sorceries, why you need all that mana when you have answers?
low curve deck. hoo. fak u ramp.
many land slots for long controlish games. wiii.
and others..
THERE IS NO : YOU MUST RUN 40-36-30-50 lands in a commander deck. there is no you must run 15 instants. or any other silly deck building rule
IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR DECK RUNS AND HOW ITS GAME PLAN IS! does it have high mana threats? how many? is it a land matters deck, mana hungry? does it play EOT? does it have many mana dudes?mana rocks? Does it have other ways to gain mana, is MANA vital in my deck? etc etc

KNOW YOUR META!
Not all decks work in all metas! Not all people think/build the same. Don't copy paste decks! it doesn't help anyone! be creative,be constructive, answer your meta threats, you can be specific, you know who you play with! you need answers to everybody! be the guy that needs answers from everybody!

COLOR X IS BAD AT EDH!
Yes . some colors are much better than others...
but guess what, you are bad at playing x! all colors have things and gems to offer, unique strategies, interesting mono cards, etc etc.
maybe you havent found the right commander or strategy for you yet.
All the guys playing and being sucessfull with that color/combination can prove you otherwise!

Sorry if i have spelling or structure errors,or you dont understand what im trying to say, just point it out and ill try to fix it! , i love editing!
I absolutely loathe "I play for fun" players, because invariably their definition of "Fun" is going to clash with my own, or their communities, or whatever. These are the people that find their own combos perfectly okay and fun, but whine and moan when I bust off with Sharuum. I ****ing hate you people. You're the reason I build decks that make people cry. Because your tears of defeat are ****ing delicious.
I hate people who assume competitive play is the only way to enjoy EDH. This is a format with an entirely subjective, meta specific ban list, tournament structure and organization. Get your head out of your ass. Or better yet, sell your cards. You're the cancer killing everything we love, and it makes me want to murder everyone you love while you watch.
I hate going to GPs and finding pick-up games with CMDR players, then getting subjected to fourty-five minute lectures on how "I don't think you should get away with that!" while they're trying to pull of Tefari+Knowledge Pool. You know what? Sure. I do dirty things in games because the format allows them to happen. If you're going to do them as well, expect equal treatment, moron.
That being said, I hate pick up games for all of the above reasons and more.
I hate this forum. I hate most CMDR forums, because it's an endless **** fest of **** posting from ****ty people with zero comprehension of context. If the bubonic plague suddenly wiped a third of you from existence, the world would truly suffer nothing from your death.
I hate people who feel victimized because they're cmdr players, either because WoTC found the format profitable and are raining on their hipster parade, or because people view a casual format with a more joyous light. I want to toss these kinds of people into a wood chipper, along with their irony.
I hate people who are completely incapable of making functional comparisons between cards. Sylvian Primordial isn't Primeval Titan, you ignorant ****s, and it never will be. Stop making this ****ty thread and other threads like it.
But most of all, I hate myself.

Thanks, Heroes of The Planes! You guys are great!
Actual Truth:
"You heard it here folks:
Anyone who disagrees with "Jack from NC" is an idiot."-The Dead Weatherman
I dislike it when people complain that people are ganging up on them when they make no political moves and run a group-slug deck.
I dislike it when people argue over rules and refuse to listen to the WotC rulebook.
I dislike it when people complain about EDH as being too long/too expensive/not competitive enough. That's kind of the point of the format, don't be a baby.
I dislike it when people complain about infinite combos. If you see someone with an Azami and a Lab Maniac out, you might as well work to remove them before they cast Mind Over Matter.

Assuming your deck has win cons, card draw pretty much is everything. Each card is a resource, the more resources you have, the more likely you will win. Card draw is the single most powerful thing in the game.

Some legends ARE bad. They offer no support to any viable strategy in the colors they provide and are often too costly/under powered for any deck strategy that involves the general. Sure, you can build any sort of deck that doesn't involve the general, but then you don't really provide evidence for your statement. Good examples are: [CARD]
Hunding Gjornersen [/CARD], and [CARD]
Lord Magnus [/CARD].

I wonder how many decks exist, that won't benefit from a T1 sol ring. I wonder how many decks exist, that will be WORSE OFF had they not added the sol ring at all.
I probably wouldn't run it in a 5 color deck, but as I have never had a 5 color deck, I can't say for sure.
I absolutely loathe "I play for fun" players, because invariably their definition of "Fun" is going to clash with my own, or their communities, or whatever. Jack_from_NC you know about 3rd world countries right? ,but this is a commander specific thread
I like you for all the wrong reasons
OFC. card draw is everything, IF THE DECK IS BUILT RIGHT, that was what i was trying to say, i see people making decks, they are like JUST ADD 10 draw spells/things, "all decks must have card draw". it doesnt work that way, you dont just add card draw to the pile. you need to have all the other things considered first. and stuff that fit the deck. not ALL decks benefit from draw 4 cards the same way,can you deny that?
And i already mentioned the Legends legends ofc they are bad. But even horsemanship vanilla legends can be built effective. Horsemanship vigilance, horsemanship haste. etc. Sure, they are exceptions, but those exceptions can be played "effectively" running troll decks, "hidden" under the clock combo decks with them at helm. I didnt say there arent bad legends. just dont judge legends you havent played with. There are many hidden gems.
Sure sol ring is great, but people shouldn't start making decks with x1 sol ring and go to town. I have examples in my post. Aggroish decks dont want it.i prefer putting a threat turn 1. ,or to not gather all the hate t1.
decks with 3 colored legends or more, heavy mana requirements. You wouldnt play sol ring if you have nothing to use the colorless mana to sure they are few, exceptions, but they do exist . Land matter decks. Artifact hate,Aggro decks. permament wiping decks

EDH is about politics. If you are playing your T1 sol ring, you're not doing it right. All that does it draw hate.
As for legends with 'hidden gems', being compatable with 1 or 2 random misc cards that are otherwise trash on their own, doesn't make a general any less crap.
I do not like poor sports.
I do not like complaining about certain strategies but, refusing to adapt your deck to the meta.
I do not like that Wizards hasn't printed any Kobold tokens.
I do not like that Wizards got rid of Mana Burn, I think it could be an effective tool to teach people about the perils of ramp and over extension.
I do not like green eggs and ham or that we haven't seen any viable Land Destruction printed in quite sometime.
That's about it. I generally like everything else except Sylvan Primordial (kidding).

Of course I play for fun, silly. ;P That's generally the point of playing, is to have fun. I'm still going to try to kill you and win, however.
As for the ramp/Sol Ring thing, that's just more of a life vest in my meta. I don't deny hating color combinations without green, because I like my ramp, but in a playgroup where everyone splashes green it's a lot harder to keep up without mana rocks if you don't have the option of land ramp. Possible, but definitely an uphill battle.
Other than that, it's mildly annoying when people with tuned decks that consistently win complain about being focused down first. Of course you are, you winning greatly decreases my chances of winning.
my Heartless Hidetsugu can one shot all the table except me,
the Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo deck i recently built runs greatly as a pillowfort ,who else has her ability?
ruhan is great, etc etc.
How is that crap?
just people run the well known legends for their colors and call it a day.
How many people run Jedit Ojanen of Efrava?sure he is crap compared to Azusa, omnath etc etc.
But he is completely different, i had lots of fun building him, running him, casual(this one is forestwalk/tiger themed, not all my decks are made competitive),but effective and very very threatening
Really if you havent seen decklists ,havent played with all the legendaries creatures you can't judge them, like i cant judge you being a loser or worthless.i have to see you in person/action first
Rating the legends i mentioned will make you win no argument if you havent played them first. trying different things/stategies/play with "crap" legends is all i have to recommend ,imagination and creativity is what makes me love magic.
SAY NO TO COMMANDER FASCISM. LET THE 1 dollar legends shine! give em a chance. haha.

Well to be perfectly blunt, you opened up by saying you are annoyed with the people on these forums, and then claimed they don't fully enjoy Magic.
You have to understand that players who are so invested in this game that they not only read these forums but participate and assist others are generally more competitive, so of course they're going to utilize tools like ramp, draw, tutors, and staples. And as for fully enjoying Magic, there is no one way to have fun. Just because one person does not enjoy something doesn't mean others don't as well.
im trying to offer ideas and joke a bit about things we rant about the game here.
i didn't bash anyone, i put smileys all the time just for that.
Can you criticize my opinions ,or offer something in the thread instead of attacking for no reasons? if not just lock the thread and call it a day.
If you say i hate X does that mean you just want all of X to have a fiery death or just dont like it?
if I dont like something,or i find smth interesting i make a thread about it, people can post opinions, agree, disagree, have points .
after claiming "people dont fully enjoy magic" i also did post why i think that i didnt leave it at it as far as i know...
If the mods are this way better lock this and call it a day
edit : about investment etc, i have over 50 real magic edh decks, loads of decks on cockatrice play and enjoy magic for over 10 years. i have my own playgroup of 20+ people, and lead a healthy community in my town in crete.Im just saying my opinion about MAGIC commander related stuff, and want to discuss about it, isn't that what forums are about?? if not then i will not post again, thank you very much
the thread title is "General Rant Thread :D" in the commander subforum....
Sol Ring is the number one most popular card in EDH for a reason. It's in 74% of recorded decks in the statistics thread. As far as I'm concerned, the only decks that might not want sol ring are low-curve aggro decks where their cards have almost no colorless cost (Like some Edric decks). As for not being able to depend on one card, many people play with the partial paris mulligan rules in EDH. On your first 7-card draw, there is a 7.07% chance of drawing your sol ring. If you send all 7 back and draw six, there is a 6.52% chance of drawing it on the mulligan. So approximately one in every 7 games, you will naturally start with sol ring. Then, people tend to play Trinket Mage, Enlightened Tutor, Demonic Tutor, and Vampiric Tutor, and if they get these in their opening hand, will search for sol ring because a turn 1-5 sol ring is just that powerful.
That being said, I have built decks that have excluded sol ring for thematic purposes- for example, an epic experiment deck that is all instants/sorceries. But I admit the deck could run faster if it contained a sol ring.

Guys please, i didn't bash sol ring, im just trying to say that there is no card that fits everywhere, sure sol ring helps a lot, just dont start sol ring then the deck. Iv seen MANY lists that include sol ring just because it is sol ring. The deck doesnt need it at all, yet there it is. Why? Because sol ring.
There are decks that something else would help the list MUCH MORE than sol ring. There are many lists that sol rings make better. But there are also many that if you cut sol ring for smth else it just becomes better. You won't miss it! i didn't .
Run sol ring, i didn't say otherwise ,just justify it,and where it has the right support and glue . Read my posts about sol, i think im pretty clear about it.
Sol ring rocks, just not EVERYWHERE. 70% yes, but there still that 30% where sol ring is gone.
there is a mis conception about COLORLESS mana source.
SOLRING is vital in all cases in EDh. in fact, all of the colorless mana sources are VITAL. how many times are you gonna gast your commander? even if your commander does not have colorless in its CMC.... it will have soon enough after it landed and you cast again... even if your deck does not depend on your commander that much.. you will still cast your commander when everything else fails. thats how and what commander/Elder dragon Highlander Format is... or as far as i know is. IMHFO.
Finally my rant. I HATE HATING, its a waste of time. thats all, lets just enjoy magic the way we want it to be.

This is the point I disagree with- there are not "many" decks that are made worse for having sol ring. There are "a few". Even a lot of aggro decks will still benefit from a sol ring.
dondee, for the Edric example, it isn't that it won't need the colorless mana at some point- it's just that an Edric deck would much rather play a Llanowar Elves turn one and a Trygon Predator turn 2. It needs creatures on the board early, so sol ring wouldn't be played until much later in the game, where it loses its explosiveness. It isn't just about color, it's about tempo.

If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.
So I suppose we should all just be reasonable then? Look, you seem like a nice guy and all. But, what you are failing to realize is that by your logic I should be open-minded. This argument is obviously flawed as the things I dislike are inherently wrong because I say so. Additionally, the things you dislike that I like are ok. This is also because I say so. I am calling it Ryujin's Law of "because I say so."

I dislike it when people argue over rules and refuse to listen to the WotC rulebook.
I dislike it when people complain about EDH as being too long/too expensive/not competitive enough. That's kind of the point of the format, don't be a baby.
I dislike it when people complain about infinite combos. If you see someone with an Azami and a Lab Maniac out, you might as well work to remove them before they cast Mind Over Matter.
That's it. I love everyone and everything else.
This sometimes is an issue, but I don't see people arguing that spot removal is bad. Some people just don't realize its power.
Well said.

I set it at 11.
5-color Eggs
Of course I play for fun, silly. ;P That's generally the point of playing, is to have fun. I'm still going to try to kill you and win, however.
As for the ramp/Sol Ring thing, that's just more of a life vest in my meta. I don't deny hating color combinations without green, because I like my ramp, but in a playgroup where everyone splashes green it's a lot harder to keep up without mana rocks if you don't have the option of land ramp. Possible, but definitely an uphill battle.
Other than that, it's mildly annoying when people with tuned decks that consistently win complain about being focused down first. Of course you are, you winning greatly decreases my chances of winning.

the Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo deck i recently built runs greatly as a pillowfort ,who else has her ability?
ruhan is great, etc etc.
LET THE 1 dollar legends shine! give em a chance. haha.

I'm surprised it's made it to seven reies without getting derailed yet. I give it by lunchtime. Jack had me going until I caught the irony. Very well played.
Edit: Also, can we not turn this into a contest to see who can derail it the quickest/best? Lets keep the New Years Eve ranting civil.
Double edit: Nathed, so I miscounted my replies. I really hate that.

Just because one person does not enjoy something doesn't mean others don't as well.

i didn't bash anyone, i put smileys all the time just for that.

Have a Happy New Year!
