I just can't stand it when anyone plays Prophet of Kruphix. I was playing a game last night and I just relentlessly tried to kill the Prophet all game when someone would play it and people didn't like that I hate that card so much. Is there any way I can not hate it this much? Everyone seems to ignore it and then it's one person taking basically concurrent turns. We had another game where everyone was either cloning or stealing Prophet and it would never NOT be on the battlefield or back in someones hand.
The only way I see to stop it when people ignore it is to just try to get it exiled, but I had a friend tell me that I was ruining their fun because that card is what they consider fun. I felt sort of like a jerk about hunting the Prophet, but I don't know how else to keep it mostly out of the games I play, just because it either dies immediately or that player wins with insane turn and mana advantages.
Just pack a lot of removal and kill her when appears on the battlefield. If someone says that you're ruining their fun just because you try to kill a threat, just say that they're ruining yours because of it.
Board wipes. Let them run out their hand and just blow everything up. Maybe that will teach them that overextension is bad.
As for ruining their fun... well, I don't know what to tell you about that. If just playing removal is un-fun, maybe you should start playing Azusa or Wanderer or something.
just exile it. **** your friend, people complain when someone exiles their pet cards all the time, but the fact is that prophet is extremely strong if its just left to build board advantage by itself

This is the real problem. Your friend is trying to guilt you into letting him do whatever he wants. People who do this don't want to play the game with other people, they just want others to watch them.
I play the Prophet of Kruphix in my Prime Speaker Zegana all the time. She is shoot on sight every time. If it's not my card I do the same thing. Frankly, she is broken in the bounce style deck I play with her. I use her in my standard simic deck also. She gets killed quickly there too:)
If you play a powerful card, expect it to get nerfed. I do. No sympathies to the friends, cards like this draw removal and they should.

I would suggest cards like price of glory but it seems like that would just cause more belly aching.
Sometimes his format makes me wish wizards would print removal that targeted attitudes.
It's a very powerful card and you're right to kill it on sight. Threat assessment is critical to Magic and it's good that you recognize powerful cards.
[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.
Explain to your friend that Prophet of Kruphix is an insanely powerful card and that removing it is necessary. Judging from your description, he seems to think that your actions neuter him, but they simply keep him kosher.
If he complains more, then just reach under the table and punch his taint.
What about it do you hate? There are a bunch of ways to make it just a 2/3 for 5.

Its not like these cards are narrow. I hate kiki jiki, I play blind obedence.
I don't see why it needs to be one or the other. Prophet is both a fun card and a card that needs to be answered.
Your friend is basically asking you to let him win the game, pretty lame imo.

If combo should die before I wake I'll slide a Smokestack in every deck I play, roll in every shop wreck the Spirit of EDH.
As said over and over, it's a huge threat and needs to be answered. It's basically a Lighthouse Chronologist with 7 levels on it already, except that you can flash in blockers too.
If this isn't answered quickly you can basically guarantee the person will win unless they d*** around and someone combos out or something.
Whenever someone kills or counters mine I totally understand. It's never personal, and even if it is it's actually justified that time.
The problem with dealing with it via most of the methods I've seen here is that they're surely running blue and green, which means counterspells and non-land permanent removal galore.
They also get a bunch of mana every turn, so you're going to need to bait an opening.
Depending on the style of play they use, you'll need to handle it differently. If they're flashy and use it to drop their whole hand on the board, use a direct removal on their prophet and bait the counter. Then drop Wrath of God or whatever boardwipe you have.
If you do that it's important to not play everything from your hand, so you can recover from the boardwipe better than him.
If they're a smart player and only play a few threats and keep the rest in hand, it's probably better to bait the counter with a wipe and kill Prophet with Snuff Out or whatever spot removal you choose, leaving both of you with a decent board and a basically equal chance.

Sheldon's can't get mad list exists for a reason. There are just some cards you're not allowed to be miffed about someone killing.
Only a petulant child thinks that the group is going to let them keep a ridiculous tempo engine on board. I never expect to get more than one use out of Birthing Pod, and that is one of my favorite cards in any format. Your friend needs to suck it up.
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to make flash irrelevant. seedborn muse isn't a threat without a flash engine in a deck that is the prepare for not having flash on prophet.
This card is actually very quickly making it into my top 5 least favorite cards to play against, along with Vorinclex and Gisela. It's absolutely kill on sight, no question, preferably with a Sudden Death just so they can't counter it, then a Bojuka Bog so they can't counter the exile. I have a friend that plays this in a fairly tuned Roon of the Hidden Realm flicker deck that it's absurdly good in. The most frustrating part is that I'm usually the only person at the table to try to answer it...
Hate it. Kill on sight, absolutely, no question. Your friend can suck on it.
People are overreacting to this card! It's on my top two list of most unnecessarily hated cards along with the green Primordial. Don't be killing Prophets on sight. They're not exactly threatening by themselves.
Let's break this down. What must be the case for Prophet to go bonkers?
1) A card draw engine. CSphinx, Future Sight or something along these lines... Havengul Lich is also very nasty. Dropping Prophet, emptying your hand and having someone blow up the board is the worst. Without a card advantage source this is what will happen.
2) A mana sink. Some permanent on the board that lets you take advantage of all of the extra mana on your opponents turns makes Prophet pretty awesome.
That's kind of it though. If you see someone with a Prophet who doesn't have either of those things, you could quite possibly cost yourself the game by freaking out over it. Don't overreact. Prophet is a very sick enabler but it's just that - an enabler. Without the underlying card advantage source or threat it's nothing special.
You know what else is "just an enabler"? Hermit Druid. You know what happens when druid goes off? You lose. Same for, oh, I dunno... Survival of the Fittest, Birthing Pod, several planeswalkers, Seedborn Muse, Aluren, Omniscience... It's weird. It's like there's these enabling cards that singlehandedly win games if left alone, but by themselves they don't actually do much to the gamestate. Odd, that they're all kill on sight. huh.

I'm sorry you don't like the card but before you freak out unduly look at the board and ask yourself if they can really go nuts with it ATM. If no do yourself a favor and don't freak out.

Lol. Are you really comparing Hermit Druid to Prophet of Kruphix? Or Prophet to Omniscience? You can't be serious.
