But boy oh boy imagine the look on someone's face when they try to Pyroblast it and you get to teach them the difference between it and Red Elemental Blast?
...Ummm, what IS the difference? They look like exactly the same card.

The wording. REB can only target a blue card, but when it resolves it doesn't care what color the card is. Pro blast, on the other hand can target any card but checks color at resolution. So if both those tried to destroy Rainbow Crow I could change the color and Pyroblast would fizzle. (I may have this backwards, but the logic is correct.)

REB can only target blue pyroblast can target anything and just not do anything like I can pyro your island it just does nothing about the only time it's relivant in edh is casting REB in kill a perm mode can't eat a misdirection if there's only 1 target or all the target suck for the direction owner . If the guy casting it in cryogens example had a multani's presence it would matter ... Lol
If we're allowed to talk about yesterday, then Panic Attack is usually worse than Falter. So is Gruul Charm, since the other two modes are just cruft.
Anyway, Rainbow Crow: I remember trying this in a Coalition Victory deck once when Invasion was in Standard. I ended up winning more with my Magnigoth Treefolk/Sleeper's Robe/Ana Sanctuary wincon than with Coalition Victory. I ended up cutting Coalition Victory for a 7/11 with curiosity, fear, and three landwalk types (one of which is swampwalk).
@cryogen: Actually, no.
Red Elemental Blast would be countered by the rules (since the target is no longer legal).
Pyroblast wouldn't be countered, but it would simply do nothing.
This isn't really relevant in this case, since "successfully cast" terminology is no longer in the game, but with a case like Hideous End, it becomes relevant. Vines of Vastwood counters Hideous End. But Withstand Death makes it unable to kill my creature, but it still shocks me.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
Rainbow Crow came just in time for gay pride here in San Francisco.
Bad card is bad, though. Cool ability, too expensive and niche for almost any application I can think of. Sick REB counter-tech, tho.

This is why I started playing magic in the first place. It wasn't PT aspirations just making noobs cry by doing things that are perfectly fair.
I love colour manipulation, but unfortunately my meta avoids colour-restricted cards like the plague. We used to see stuff like Slaughter and Dregs of Sorrow more often, but not so much anymore.
I'd love a five-colour (or at least more-colour) colour-manipulator general so I could at least start to play around with, for example, the Shadowmoor-Eventide auras... stack those on this guy and pay a mana to get what you need... but even then you've gone to a lot of effort for something like Jodah's Avenger.

Yes, this was my understanding as well. Since REB must be targeting a blue permanent and it is no longer targeting a blue permanent, it does nothing. Same as giving a thing hexproof in response to removal. That's why I thought the two cards were pretty much the same thing.
The difference is if you have a Tarmogoyf, and I cast Phantasmal Image as a copy of your 'Goyf, then when you draw Pyroblast you can kill my Phantasmalgoyf where as REB couldn't. Pyro targets any spell or permanent (but only does something if it's U where as REB only targets the spell or permanent if it's U.
I'm gonna see if I can get my D&D dm to allow me to have one as my Sorcerer's familiar. It goes so well with me color spraying everything that shows me the white of their eyes.
As a card, it only wishes it could be as good as a certain other colorful bird...
This card is so outclassed by so many cards it might as well be Wood Elemental.

It's not strictly worse than any other white card, since there are no other white cards with this effect, but it is indeed pretty bad. Gideon Jura provides this effect, along with several other useful ones, for a simple one mana more.

Given the choice between casting this and winning the game or not casting this and losing I would not cast this spell as I would be too embarrassed letting my opponent know I chose to put this card in my deck.

Hey now, you can win in casual 60 card with Wood Elemental combos. It has its supremely narrow niche. Likewise Vengeance is functional removal in draft. You know, when you and your friends get bored and suicide draft and someone finds an old pack of 9th to throw into the mix.
#WorseThanAssassinate #LolLimitedFodder. Srsly, when you can be tagged by THOSE, then you know you're a bad card.

Never really cared much for Vengeance, even in Limited. If given a choice between a mediocre burn spell and Vengeance you can bet that I would take the burn spell first.
At least that art is pretty cool. The man is just chilling, showing some triceps. The giant in the background isn't really dead, just taking a small nap. People waving like it's a family photo, and the old guy just don't care.

Um, it's bad? That's really all I can say about it. There are plenty of ways to destroy a tapped creature, and a 4 mana sorcery doesn't cut it.

Excoriate, Born of the Gods. Strictly better in most circumstances. Not great in commander, but it was pretty ok in the environment of Theros limited.
