I can't think of "Righteous Charge" without picturing Jesus pulling out his Visa card...
Once again, great card for 60-card constructed. I've won many a game alpha-striking my White Weenies with a charge up or similar effect. But nigh useless in Commander.

i'd be tempted to alter that art into thunderhorse (from metalocalypse); then itd be nothing but awesome.
i think its mostly the sorcery part of the card that i don't like. if it was an instant, i'd probably consider playing it. people here at least dont play combat tricks nearly enough.
Charging into a large group of Pikemen would normally be suicidal for cavalry, but in Magic, it's very rarely a problem between Flanking, Horsemanship, and, in rare cases, just being righteous.
Guardians' Pledge is probably better for a lot of decks being an Instant but only pumping white creatures. Something like Fortify or Army of Allah might also be a better choice.
I do think it's interesting that there's nothing strictly better. If you really want to buff your whole (non mono-white) teams attack and defence at the three mana slot, this is your only real choice.
It's basically half an overrun at half the price. And overrun is a great card. The problem is that overrun without evasion is a huge problem. If this gave flying or even just pro-black or something, it would be a lot more playable. Or, obviously, if it was an instant.
My own rules when building a Commander deck:
1) Underrated general that I can build around but the deck must work without him/her too.
2) Every card must be legal in both banlists.
3) No infinite combo that could win (and ruin) instantly a multiplayer game.
4) Synergy at all costs; stay on theme, avoid goodstuff.
Bear with me while I get rid of all the crappy cards this week. I'm looking at all the possible themes for this card and at a loss as to where I would want to play this. Pauper, nope. Birds, nope. Counters matter, nope. Artifact, nope. I guess if I was forcing myself to build a clockwork deck I'd have to run this, but the question is why would I do that?

uuuh, Vorel wants creatures with counters AND evasion, so i could see this being run (not really but there arent THAT many with counters AND evasion)
if i were to build a tawnos the toymaker's clockwork theme edh?
that being said, im not sure if he actually built that one.. if it wasn't in antiquities, he probably didn't have much to do with it. if i remember right,
the clockwork avian saved kayla and himself from some of Ashnod's Transmogrants.. but then again, power creep has come a long way since the time before ice age
I don't think this was actually good in limited back in its day, but I definitely remember losing to it after a lot of creatures with modular (see Arcbound Bruiser) died and got to dump their +1/+1 counters onto it.
it's definitely something too. It has actually been playtested in the deck I'm talking about, but the problem is that one Guardians' Pledge is usually enough to win. Ramosian Rally is just a tech against Electrikery, Shrivel, Nausea and sometimes Crypt Rats.

There are much better ways to get evasive creatures counters, and countered creatures Evasion.
Vorel's creature base is actually incredibly easy to put together since he goes extremely well with both of his guild's mechanics, and Hydra's form the heavy hitters.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
I still have a few of these from one of my first decks, a weird sultai proliferate thing. Maybe in vorel to fill space?
I think when I made my Vorel of the Hull Clade deck I had about 200 cards to cut down to a deck after I looked through my collection. I never knew this existed and I looked through the other clockwork type creatures even. I know you are just trying to provide a suggestion, but I doubt this would be considered even if this was a 300 card singleton format instead.
Limited fodder. Maybe next week will have some fringe playables with some better discussions.
I've dabbled with the idea of a clockwork deck, that's the only place I would want to run this, and it would still need to be along side of proliferate, steel overseer, arcbound dudes and all those counters matter cards. The original Clockwork Bird is better, but if you're going to build clockwork in a singleton format you need to include them all. Except the beetle. I hate the beetle.
I don't think this was actually good in limited back in its day, but I definitely remember losing to it after a lot of creatures with modular (see Arcbound Bruiser) died and got to dump their +1/+1 counters onto it.
The first Mirrodin block was filled with busted equipments, the fact that this bird flew often out-weight its drawback of becoming smaller.
It's not that bad in marchesa, the black rose as sac fodder, although there are still a lot of cards I'd run over it. It's not really noticeably better than clockwork beetle for most intents and purposes, and costs 3 more.

Yeah, it's a 3/3 for 4 that gets progressively smaller. It's also in a block with modular and a lot of undercosted equipment.
Also, getting 6 damage across is still awesome, regardless.
Anyway, for EDH? Well, it's a 0/0 that ETB with +1/+1 counters, so I guess Alesha could play it? Or Ghave or Daghatar exploiting Reveillark. Probably Daghatar, since there's already way too much in Ghave. But Clockwork Dragon exists, so...no.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I was/am considering this in my arcbound marchesa deck. There is not that many modular creatures and while condor is pretty bad it is cheap and evasive creature to dump counters on. Also clockwork creatures have neat synergy with skullclamp. Basically they weaken themselves inorder to die to clamp and you get them back via marchesa.
