I also had the feeling this was a repeat. If it's not, I wonder what we're thinking about.
(Also, it's an interesting version of the birthday paradox that, despite there being 10,000+ cards, cryogen will have to be on constant lookout to avoid repeats)
"This card works like this"
"No wait, it works like this"
"Wait, everyone still thinks it works like it use to? Ok, we'll change it back"
This is a really cool and underrated card. Great in Alesha where the things you bring back don't actually want to attack. Great for getting attack triggers but not losing stuff to combat damage. Great for exploiting the cleanup step of combat to give your guys vigilance.

[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.
This is an auto-include for me in any white deck that wants to attack. Vigilance for all your creatures, being able to attack with EVERYTHING, every turn, even nerfing the odd conditional spell that relies on attacking status (i.e. Condemn) makes this pretty silly for 1 mana.
Favorite moments:
My Rith, the Awakener tokens deck with Glare of Subdual in play.
The same deck with Druids' Repository in play.
A mono-white deck when a player stopped the game for 10 minutes while he raged.
The game on MODO where the player swore up and down that it only worked post-damage because of a bug in the software..
It cracks me up when I see any weenie-type decks without it. And don't get me started when it's a weenie Tiny Leaders deck.
Can anyone explain Cryo's little bit about how the card works? I know exactly how it works as of now, but I'm not in the know about it's older errata and whatever.
Anyways, I love this card in voltron lists. Being able to swing in for big damage and still have a blocker is the bee's knees. Very good in weenies or tokens as well. Actually...pretty good in any deck that wants to attack. I'm sure there's been plenty of times someone has sent out their alpha wave, thinking they'd still be safe from attacks, then get surprised by hasty guys or someone dropping a voltron piece that wrecks them. This makes that much harder to accomplish.
An all-star and a must have in Alesha, Who Smiles at Death lists. Not only does this allow you to attack with her every turn (and reanimate a guy) regardless of the opponents' blockers, but it also lets you remove the creature you put into play (tapped and attacking) from combat - so you can keep it alive, too.
...I just wish there was a foil version, but the way the card works now I don't think it'll happen.

IIRC, when Reconnaissance was first printed, you couldn't use it to give your guys pseudo-vigilance by removing them from combat in the End of Combat step (as you couldn't do anything in that step). Shortly after, the rules were changed such that you could do anything instant in the EoC step, but no-one changed Reconnaissance to stop it being used then. Until about a year ago (over a decade since the rules change...), when someone at Wizards noticed that it no longer behaved how it was originally intended to, and so they added a line which stopped it being used in the EoC step. This caused quite a lot of fuss, as it was a casual only card which had behaved in a particular manner for ages regardless of the original intentions, so Wizards relented and removed the change.

What, seriously? The card's called "Reconnaissance." Clearly, it wasn't meant to be used after damage.

This is practically an auto include in white decks even if they don't want to attack, since it lets you send out everything anyways, and not care. This card is nothing short of fantastic.
Also fantastic with First Strike, to add damage onto things then pull back before getting hit back.
It's also excellent when paired with vigilance, in order to re-use tap effects. Hi there Tariel, Reckoner of Souls...
And it's cheap too. I didn't know this card existed and really want to pick up a couple of copies now. On the other hand, it's sort of in the same vein as using Parallax Tide to exile 5 lands and then sacrifice it to Claws of Gix. I mean, it clearly works the way you want in the rules, but it seems so unintuitive and against the intent of the card that it feels like cheating.
EDIT: Further, while I imagine it's not possible in the rules, I love the idea of the shenanigans that could be caused by an enchantment, artifact, or creature that read "In all other spells and permanents you control, replace all instances of 'you control' with ''."
I might be adding some 'Recon to Isamaru. Just... might.
I knew of the card, but it somehow few under my radar every time I was actually crafting a deck.

Tribal Ally isn't all that bad of a deck, even though you have to pretty much jam every Ally into it... including this guy. A 1/4 for 3 mana is pretty standard so powerwise it isn't a bad card. But it isn't a good one either.
Not my favorite ally, but fond memories of murdering people with Hagra Diabolist while stripping their hand with Bala Ged Thief gives this (and every other mediocre ally) a pass.
Fun tribe, I hope to see it return again when we go back to Zendikar.
If I ever end up cutting an ally from my 5-color ally deck(say, because we get new in Zendikar...), this guy is nearest to the cutting board.

Not a good ally (Due to defender), but hi-larious to get him big and just Fling him at someone. Probably one of the best allies to put into a catapult, in all honesty.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
I had an ally deck a few years ago, and it was sweet (especially with the Reaper King / Artificial Evolution combo).
This guy did not make the cut, as I had little reason to just have a dorky body.
If I was to make the deck now, I probably would include him if just because of all the Tarkir +1/+1 counter cards. Get this guy working with Hardened Scales + Retribution of the Ancients, and it seems like fun times.

I like the idea of making an Abzan Ally deck, since most of the Outlast dudes have synergy with the counters that allies spit out. I hadn't thought of that! Unfortunately the obvious commander is Ghave, and he paints a little too large a target. Daghatar the Adamant maybe? Karador works, but I already have a Karador deck...
This guy never has, and never will, make the cut in my five-color allies (Child of Alara, formerly Karona) tribal deck. There are more than enough playable allies and changelings that one need not resort to this bad card. I give this one 2/10 in ally tribal, and 0/10 in anything other than ally tribal. In anything other than tribal ally, there are lots of walls which rate a spot ahead of this.

Hey! That's another reason I'd love to see Allies back in Battle for Zendikar. Somebody would build that deck in Standard. And I saw a video on Aether Vial Modern Allies which was able to keep up with Merfolk, so that's pretty exciting too.
