He's entertaining to play, but depending on the local gaming group you may not want to sleeve him up every time or people will not want to play against you. Against certain decks he's downright broken if you ramp to him fast enough, and against the vast majority of decks he's a great punisher. Just be careful that you can afford to paint a giant target on your head for every blue player at the table.
Wut? A 6/6 for six not named Primeval Titan is not broken - broken is Ancestral Recall or Black Lotus. Ruric Thar is good, sometimes better than advertised. But broken most assuredly he is not.
I find it funny that people state that he "promotes not having fun". I'd rather face him down then a 30-counter-wall, that much is for sure. He's strong and not easy to deal with, but he's not even a top-tier general. Just a solid pick if you want to build a Gruul deck, and he's especially good for werewolves, which are a casual favorite.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
For me, every time I see this dude I just eat the 6 and kill him on sight. Then I congratulate the player on his Lava Axe. He's just annoying and good players will not let him last a round.
He speeds the game up real nice and punishes control/combo without being too griefy or locking you out. You can still cast your spells, they just hurt a bit. Definitely not broken at six mana. A nice card for Gruul, Naya and Jund
He was (still is?) my first deck, so I still have a soft spot for him. It certainly makes everyone else at the table play differently - people will wait for other people to remove him, people don't want to waste their single target removal so early. Makes the game more interesting!
Situational card is situational. In a creature-heavy meta I could see this being a decent card, especially since it replaces itself, but I think I'd rather just run Silence.
I don't like these kinds of cards. I could see them being better in 1v1 decks, but even then they need a combo/lock to make them worth while. The main problem I have with them is that you can't use them reactively.
I'd only run it in 1v1 (along with their cheaper sister Standard Bearer). Because in multiplayer, there are a lot of threats that I want others to deal with and not have thi get in the way. It's basically a budget Spellskite outside of blue.
Pairs well with Pemmin's Aura. This was one of the first 60 card casual decks I built.
Surprisingly enough, the Flagbearers are really good in EDH. Maelstrom Pulse, Oblivion Ring, Vindicate, and numerous other removal spells are more or less useless until this guy is off the board. Give him even a little protection and he can save your creatures (and other permanents in some cases) for a long time.
So... Honor Guard - Terrible. Would not play, even in Doran Human/Soldier tribal pauper. Which isn't a thing. I'd really run any shade first, even at higher CMC, if only so it doesn't require my commander to be decent.
Coalition Honor Guard - Awesome. The 4 life was very relevant vs bolts in the day (in casual, they were never in tournament together), and they were absolutely brutal. It was also printed in the same set as Unnatural Selection, which I think my friends and I misplayed the heck out of, but who cares, it was fun. As far as multiplayer goes, it forces someone to spend a removal spell on them, which can sometimes be good, but can also sometimes be bad. Great protection if you want to be running creature based strategies, and I could see it run in Karador as well as Doran.
Awkward fail. I did this from my phone (which for good reason I never do). The Random card was Honor Guard, but I guess I missed that I linked an image to the wrong card. I guess it isn't a total fail, because Coalition Honor Guard is a pretty cool card.
Nope. Not even in Pauper would I waste a slot to deal one damage to anything. Horrible card. So since I dun goofed yesterday, feel free to continue talking about Honor Guard or Coalition Honor Guard, if you want. Or tell me a limerick.
There once was a poster named Cryogen
Who liked to play cards called Myojin.
He'd remove counters Divinity,
And, really, why shouldn't he?
For that CMC, he'd better win!

Its a good effect for Gruul, the kind of thing it needs to fight back against U.

Not really that good in Commander, but I could see it getting played in Doran, especially a Pauper build.
