I love Thada Adel. I ran her as a commander for a while. I've stopped playing her entirely though, due to the dirty looks you get when you repeatedly manhandle someone else's deck.
I'll continue to echo the sentiment of affection for Thada Adel, Acquisitor. I run her in most blue decks that can support her, as stealing mana rocks is really just fine all by its lonesone. She, of course, gets even scarier in an artifact-centric build like Sydri, Galvanic Genius (and in Sydri in particular she can make annoying blockers out of your opponents throw-away artifacts).
I play her among the 99 in a generic Grixis goodstuff build. She's not the flashiest creature around, but being able to steal mana rocks and the occasional sword is nice.
A very reasonable meta call if your playgroup has lots of blue decks and/or artifact-centric decks.
Good in the 99 when your opponents are playing a lot of blue as she's basically unblockable and you can nab mana rocks or dismantle combos in a few swings, but she's kinda meh as a commander if you ask me because the exile ability by itself doesn't really win games.

Maybe, though she is one of the few mono blue commanders that actually plays nicely as voltron. There isn't as much support in mono blue s in other, traditional, voltron builds, but it is a lot of fun to steal opposing equipment to suit her up.
I used to run Thada as my general. She would either eat removal all game long or get me so far ahead that the rest of the game was archenemy. There are a lot of fun tricks you can do to prevent people from blocking her, like using Vedalken Plotter to swap one of your islands for their best land.
One scary scenario I have had happen to me was her getting cloned by the blue decks I was attacking...and then my deck got manhandled
She's been cut from my blue decks, partly for not being on theme and partly for being underwhelming as a 2/2 in the mid/late game range. I still like her, but cannot seem to find a home for her.

This is entirely my experience, but ramp dirty looks up to waves of hate for games and games. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing the deck and acquireing all those sol rings and swords. But she embodies several things that players hate on a viseral level:
-Steals/exiles their best cards
-searches their decks, exposing secrets
-takes tons of time
-is mono blue, so all that baggage
I think I play the deck like once a year, any more than that and I'd probably lose friends.
Quicksilver Fountain is an excellent one. I've never seen people simply stop playing non-islands just to get rid of the flood counters, and you can always bounce/destroy the fountain before the flood goes away, without getting rid of the island-ness.
I have a Thada deck, and I also run Whim of Volrath, which can both change islandwalk to something like swampwalk, or change a land with a basic land type to being an island. (I've also used it on an opponent's Sword of Fire and Ice to remove the protection from blue before )
I generally consider a Thada deck to be mono-blue ramp, since by and large the first few hits she's going to steal rocks. I've controlled 5 Sol Rings at a 4-man table before, and I've stolen an Orochi Hatchery, casting it for X=14 as well, due to the ramp generated over the course of the game. (That same game I also stole a Perilous Forays and sacrificed my new snakes to find even more mana.)
Thada is a fantastic value engine 3 drop, and was one of several excellent cards in my Cromat 5c equipment "every creature gives me cards" deck.
Heck, worst case if you run out of artifacts you want, you steal a sensei's top, then activate it before she hits so you can steal it again. Turns her into a card draw on hit for 1 mana.
Also, people get a bit miffed when you steal their top repeatedly.

I think in the last game I used her, I stole a Mana Crypt just so I could have one, then a Top. I used the top, then swung again just to shuffle it back into the guy's library.
Boring card is boring, but what caught my eye is the reach part. Off the top of my head I didn't know white creatures got reach. They are elves though so you could put them in a tribal deck like Rhys.
White does get Reach VERY occasionally - most recently Hundred-Handed One. Though it's mostly on a few old archers.
That said, none are worth running in EDH.

My Commander decks:
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Oops! All Chandras.
Prime Speaker Zegana - Draw for Power.
Pir & Toothy - Counterpalooza.
Arcades, the Strategist - Another Brick in the Wall.
Zacama, Primal Calamity - Calamity of Double Mana.
Edgar Markov - Vampires Don't Die.
Child of Alara - Dreamcrusher.
The big problem is, it's a Gray Ogre with reach. That's so stat-inefficient that it will never ever make the cut in anything but the most gimmicky decks.

I guess if one wants to make archer tribal, which would be terrible, this terrible creature might make the cut. For an elf deck, though, there are literally a couple hundred better choices.

Only if you're trying Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile or Rashka the Slayer archer tribal. Once you add G to the deck (because why are you doing archer tribal without Greatbow Doyen?) you have more than enough options that you'd much rather use this guy's slot in the deck for Hail of Arrows or something along those lines. Also, obligatory changeling mention.
Longbow was my first thought when I saw today's card, as it's the tournament level version of this ability in white. Which then led me to thinking about the creature type controversy, and a story I heard way back in the day.
No sources, so not sure if true, but apparently after the first type change (from Archer, to Soldier), someone loaded their deck with the Visions version so that when their opponent cast a spell that required a type (engineered plague?) and chose archer, it wouldn't affect them, as they were simply soldiers.
It's a bit of a stretch of a story though, since any judge should have recognized the intent of the choice.

I'm quite fond of Thada. Her and Empress Galina are the kind of cards that make me want to try Merfolk in EDH.
