I like Trygon Predator. Because it either eats removal that your other real threats wont, or it starts removing ramp, protections, and opponent's threats.
The one I always think of is Simic Sky Swallower. This guy used to be a total shoe in, but now we expect so much out of a 6+ drop, and given the advent of hexproof, shroud is usually a liability and prevents you from stapling equips and auras onto your fatties. Also, 6/6 flying, trample, ~mostly unpumbable just doesn't seem good enough with monsters like the eldrazi, and other huge creatures kicking around.
I used to hate seeing him dropped by Momir. Along those lines, does anyone still play Darksteel Colossus?

Yeah, that guy is quite the poster boy for used-to-be-goods. Since it's hard to improve it, at best it's usually 6 damage a turn to one person. Giant meh.
And I agree with the people saying akroma's pretty meh too.
I can't think of a good reason why anybody would.
It got so very outclassed.
I...I'm still running Darksteel Colossus in one deck. He's good in Bosh, Iron Golem as a budget giant guy whose also an artifact with a big casting cost for Bosh to throw at someone.
Let's be accurate here. EDH is as old as the original Elder Dragons, when you had to choose one of the Elder Dragons as your general and you started the game with 3 basic lands in play. One for each of your colours.
I'm sure there are still people who play them as Commanders at present times, but the Wedge dragons...until the Commander Products rolled around. You don't see them that much anymore.
When I first started coming here a few years ago I remember a lot of complaints about Maga, Traitor to Mortals. He's still a strong black big mana general, but I guess not as good as he used to be.
Or Vig? I haven't seen Momir Vig as a general in a couple years.
Prophet of kruphix screams to me that Vig decks will become popular again, if only for a time, as it combines the two most important creatures from the Vig deck into one.
Primordial Sage has been outclassed like four or five times.
Mana Flare kinds of effects aren't used like they used to be.
I remember when it made sense to put Shatter or Disenchant in a deck.

In that situation, I'd say "Hey, player 3, don't kill my Trygon Predator and I'll use it to wipe out Player 1's mana rocks"
See where opportunism gets you then.
It would put the state of the game in the same place, only instead of player 1 sitting pretty, player 3 would be, as he can save his removal spell AND allow player 2 to keep destroying player 1's board.
Maybe if d0su realised that Vig needs to return to one of his deck boxes, you would.
It was seriously a janky deck, but I pissed people off and my group off when I proxied up his list.
I can't imagine any Momir Vig deck that is janky, it is still the best Simic general there is and facilitates the easiest combos with its pure card advantage. When I last opposed my friend playing MV it was among most consistent decks there was and it often took one person focusing on him or two to keep eye on his plays to stop it winning when we looked away from whatever creature combo there was.
For me, I'll say that rattlesnake cards were better earlier on No Mercy, Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker, those type things used to be better, but not being proactive is bad lately.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.
I still see Momir Vig from time to time, mostly from people looking to tutor up Palinchron or DEN + SyPrime shenanigans.
Once card I haven't seen in forever is Bogardan Hellkite. It used to see a lot of play in my groups, but I don't think people see it as cost effective any more.

The spectrum of counterspells I play and see being played has shifted. We used to play all these big spells like Desertion or Gather Specimens. We decided that those cards weren't reliable and ate up too much mana. You now see cards like Negate and Dispel pop up.

Currently 62/265 cards.
Woah there. Capsize is still an auto include in every blue deck of mine, alongside with Cyclonic Rift of course.
It would put the state of the game in the same place, only instead of player 1 sitting pretty, player 3 would be, as he can save his removal spell AND allow player 2 to keep destroying player 1's board.
Capsize is still great, but a lot of the other ones aren't as great as they used to be.

bogardan hellkite never makes the cut before siege-gang commander or inferno titan. If I'm already running both and still looking for more burn creatures I consider him.
