Right now I'm looking to make a new deck.
I want to make it either morph themed or a Phage deck.
However the meta in my area tends to have some really powerful decks and some decks that don't have ways to interact with those powerhouses tend to get left behind very quickly. I liked playing Vorel but ended up taking him apart due to the meta here being too strong for a deck like that to really do what it wants. I wanna try Phage or Morph and have it be mostly fun but I want it to interact with the board more often than not.
I'm wondering if it's actually possible to make a semi competitive morph edh or Phage. Thanks guys

Hey guys so I've actually moved on from commander on to 60 card decks so I don't have any commander decks.
Anyway I've started my own gameplay channel in which I play games (Magic also)

I've though about making morph before. It seems good since no one will ever know what you have out until it dies. The problem isn't that there really isn't anything powerful enough to win in a competitive group of edh players. You could try some shenanigans with fortune thief. It seems like a fun deck idea, but I don't think it would be consistent and powerful enough for a more competitive meta.

Sheldon had a Phage deck at one time. I don't recall if he every posted it anywhere online, but it ran a bunch of cards like Sundial of the Infinite to bypass Phage's trigger.

Besides sundial though, what other cards can successfully cheat Phage into play in mono black?
The problem with morph is that the best morph dudes are Vesuvan Shapeshifter and Ixidron. That thing is hilarious - it's not a Wrath, but it's good enough if you're not in the colors for it. It isn't competitive (directly) - morph creatures by and large aren't powerful or combo-ey enough to seal the game on their own, but you can win via pickles lock (Vesuvan Shapeshifter + Brine Elemental every turn). Otherwise you'll have a tricky time competing with better modern creatures - most dudes printed pre Time Spiral block just aren't competitive with modern creatures unless they possess unique abilities or attributes, and the lion's share of morph came from Onslaught.
I've said it before, but I really, really love Ixidor, Reality Sculptor. His lore and everything is so epic. I mean c'mon, Future Sight, still today one of the most unique and powerful U cards ever printed, that's the kind of power he works with every day, not to mention he created Akroma, Angel of Wrathwith his mind.
Morph as an ability has succumbed to power creep, and Ixidor has too. I mean his ability to flip a morph creature for 2U is already more than most morph creatures' built-in flip costs. If only his ability could flip for 1U or just U, then he'd probably be significantly more viable.
Anyway, point being, nowadays Morph is pretty much jank besides Willbender and the Brine Elemental lock, and Ixidor's ability is overall just meh from a power standpoint. That's not to say you can't build a Morph deck; it just means that if you DO build a morph deck you can't set your expectations for victory too high.
As for Phage, you could probably build a Phage deck with some success too, but I wouldn't expect anything unique. You'd probably just build it like any generic mono-black control deck a la Maga, Traitor to Mortals or Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed, except your "winning combo" would be Torpor Orb -> Phage or Sundial -> Phage.
I run an Ixidor deck with a morph theme. I can tell you from experience that morph by itself makes for a pretty weak deck. However, when you pair it with another incidental theme like wizards tribal the deck takes on new life and can actually pull out wins. Just my two cents.
Platinum angel and black counters so you can get Phage in the graveyard or back to your hand.

I run an Animar, Soul of Elements deck that runs a handful of morph creatures. They are a great help at helping me draw cards, or even comboing off with Cloudstone Curio, especially with cards like Soul of the Harvest and Primordial Sage.
The ones I run are: Willbender: Obviously very powerful. Steals effects of spells 'and' abilities. It's pretty damn good. Mischievous Quanar: Can lead to pretty janky scenarios. Someone once tried to Preator's Grasp me and I copied it stealing their Memory Lapse. They tried to play my Kozilek, I stole it back with memory lapse, and then proceeded to beat face with it as I drew it on my turn. Zoetic Cavern: It's easy to slide in since it's a land, and it's there purely to keep my morph creatures consistent. There have been a few fringe uses, such as turning it into a land when someone board wipes, changing a target of a spell to it, only to make it an invalid target. Someone once tried to Oblivion Ring it fearing an Akroma, the sheer disappointment on their face when I turned it into a land and their O-ring failed was priceless. Akroma, Angel of Fury: Is an awesome beat stick, with tons of relevant abilities. Only thing it's missing is haste. Voidmage Apprentice: Super underrated. This card is difficult to counter, and everyone seems to assume it's willbender when I leave the mana open. Voidmage Prodigy: This is the newest addition I'll be trying out. Color commitment is the only problem I see here, but the first thing I do in Animar is try to get rguuu out onto the field, so it shouldn't be the worst thing. I play a few other wizards too.
Sure, the mechanic is a tad overcosted in terms of mana vs effect, but you can make a solid casual animar decklist out of this hodge-podge collection of cards and a combo subtheme with cloudstone curio.

Edit: I guess Torpor Orb

Legacy: GWR Enchantress <--That's my banner! (lol tinypic removed it)
Casual: WB [[Primer]]Clerics Tribal; BU Affinity
EDH: ...U [[Primer]]Arcum Dagsson; BG Legal Stax; B Illegal Stax
Proxy: .WX TriniStax
Other stuff: [[Official]]Shuffling, Truth + Maths
Also Platinum Angel, though that's a lot more fragile.
Edit: And Nether Void can get her into your graveyard, from where you can Disentomb her.
Also, look into picking up an Illusionary Mask. It lets you morph anything, and also gives you extra unmorph triggers for Bleb/Runecaster.
