If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.

I wouldn't say the Primordial cycle was specifically bad for EDH, but I will comment that pretty much anytime WotC designs a card or cycle specifically for EDH, it seems like its a hit or miss, with no middle ground. And it's usually a horrible, horrible miss. All my opinion, obviously.

To be frank I agree with you lots. Many of the specific commander designed cards have tend to make the format more unfun.

2/5 of the primordial cycle were sub par, 2/3 were good but situational, and then there was SP.
Green seems to get the banhammer a lot, but only on it's overpowered ramp strategies. SP and PrimeTime in specific were always tutored for without fail because it was very rare that something else was worth tutoring for. SP is a double offender because in addition to getting you ahead, it solves problems. If it had been one or the other, it'd be one thing but he does both. If it said target artifact or enchantment, or even "noncreature nonland" i'd have zero qualms with it, but it doesn't. R&D Really dropped the ball on this one, in my personal opinion.
Having been on both sides, I can say that I hated playing against it, but loved playing it myself; Still, I agree with the committee's decision. Welcome back, Terrastodon/Woodfall Primus.

A lot of the cards just aren't interesting is the problem. They're super vanilla and derpy. And usually attached to bodies.
I'll say this, for example: I'm a Darksteel Forge player. Yes, the card is easy. Yes the card is derpy. But it's still years more interesting that something like Avacyn, Angel of Hope.
At the cost of having to pay white, Avacyn makes everything you control indestructible, adds an 8/8 vigilant flying body, and still costs 1 less mana.
Is the card good? Yes. Is the card broken? No, of course not. Does the card function interestingly within the game/need more cards to become more powerful? No.
And they just keep printing more and more of these extremely bland cards that do nothing to create interesting situations or internal decisions.
And they just keep printing more and more of these extremely bland cards that do nothing to create interesting situations or internal decisions.
Fated Return is testament to this. Why they thought a derpy 7CMC recursion spell, even if it does give indestructible, and scry 2 if you place nice, was a good idea. Is it too much to ask for for a "Rapid Recursion 1BB Instant: Return target creature from a graveyard to the battlefield. You lose life equal to it's converted mana cost". hell, even at 2BB or BBB it's playable, and might be usable in standard. Wizards needs to stop being scared to print suicide cards in black because they deter new players. RTR returned shocks and new players are still using them, so they can't use that argument anymore >_>
I'm getting off topic though. Sylvan was just another good uninspired power card. /endrant.

I feel with cards like primodials, wizards are damaging the format. The non commander format legends and cards are so much more fun to play with than commander inspired cards.

Primordials are amazingly fun and it was really shortsighted for an ignorant few to try and ban Sylvan for the rest of the people and I know many people who will continue to play it regardless. Also commanders more fun than Animar, Edric, Marath, and Derevi? I'd have to disagree.

I keep seeing this pop up, and here's what I have to say about it. This is as official as a format as it's going to get. Wizards fully acknowledges that this is a format and has even made official product for it. When people say things like "I'm going to keep using it" or what have you, I can't help but think, Really? Deathrite Shaman was just banned in modern, and I wonder how many people said "pfft, I'm going to keep using it because I like it and that ban is stupid and I want to keep using this, so I will." The only difference is there are no official EDH tournaments, and there shouldn't be imho. This is supposed to be a fun format, and half the fun in my mind is not using cards on the ban list. When they ban a card, it's for a reason. If you (just using 2nd person, not attacking you Wonderland) can't fathom making a deck because one card is banned, maybe you need to sit back and realize that there are 2077 mono-green cards legal in commander. Try some of them out. Go on. Try it! If you're getting so defensive about losing one card, well maybe there's a REASON IT GOT BANNED.
I fully understand that you can just say "blah blah custom playgroup banlist blah blah" but the problem with that is that maybe there are people that play in multiple play groups! There's a reason there's a unified ban list. In my play group alone, we have two people that are out of state WEEKLY for work, rarely to the same place, and bring their decks with them because they always look for other people to play with. If our group decided to ban X card and unban Y card, what happens when we play in another group that sticks to the standard ban list? It doesn't mesh well. While we're clinging to a banned card like a drug habit, they've adapted and moved, maybe even found some new fun card that's awesome and not ban worthy. It's one card. replace it, move on, and ENJOY THE GAME.
House rules or "fair play" exceptions are always encouraged if they result in more fun for the local community.
Groups can mesh perfectly fine. A simple "Hey dude, we allow Worldfire, but banned Wake of Destruction here" is not a significant barrier to playing the game.
In a way, I feel worse for the Jund players in modern. Their decks just got nuked (though zoo and reanimation players should be happy.) In contrast, I can't think of a single EDH deck of mine that won't find a replacement. Will they do the same thing as Sylvan? No. But my opponents won't be playing it either, and I don't need to worry about my copy being cloned, reanimated, or bribed.
It's funny just how more Sylvan Primordial gives you than the other Primordials. Not only do you get to destroy something, but you also get to ramp. It's Terastodon and Seedguide Ash (Minus the needing to die clause) in one. You get two effects.
It would be like if Molten Primordial not only Threatened but also flung the creatures it stole at end of turn, or if Diluvian Primordial let you draw a card in addition to casting the spell. Now, I know some of those bonuses are way better than others, but I think the principle remains the same.
I hope the next blatant EDH cycle of fatties are more balanced in their spoils.

I hope wizards don't create another EDH cycles of fatties. They will ruin the format even further believe me.
I hope they do. I liked prime time, then got SP when he was banned. In another set or two, we'll get a replacement. Wizards cares about two things, money, and more money. There are a lot of players that are willing to buy these fatties that "ruin" edh. Fact of the matter is EDH has changed due to player taste. These fatties are being designed to fulfill that demand. If edh players honestly didn't want these edh fatties, wizards wouldn't be making them, but they are and they wont stop. EDH as a format is becoming more mature and more about recurring etb bombs. I feel like banning fatties like SP and PT is pointless when offenders like bribery and friends are ok in the format. It's like the RC is trying to maintain a ceiling of what they deem acceptable when in actuality the true ceiling is 16 miles above where they think it should be.
I'm more interested in how the RC will respond when they have 3 versions of primetime, sp, and sundering titan on the banlist a few years from now... and 2-3 remakes of worldfire.
I agree. We should all only play g/x decks because they are the most objectively fun and anyone who disagrees does not know the truth about EDH. Everyone should just play their decks because interaction beyond high fiving about how many land are in play is unfun and equivalent to casting Stasis while kicking puppies. I for one will never play with anyone who casts tutors, removal spells, blue cards, things I arbitrarily decide I don't like but will probably cast myself later.

The Primordial and Titans use in EDH are not making people crack packs, and thats how WotC makes money. There is a big difference between casual players and EDH players. Standard drove the price of the Titans, and the Primordials were never expensive.
Nothing about Bribery is powerful enough to get it banned, thats just ludicrous.
All of theses supposed reprints that are coming will get banned, the RC will continue to operate without regard for WotCs bottom line.
If people are sick of reading about stuff just stop taking part. You have 100% control over what you read. Simic Ascendancy isn't going to get banned just because you didn't tell someone to shut up on the internet.

Bribery is a deterrent to creatures like titans and Primordials....its only as good as the targets your opponent run.
I do feel EDH has become about these super value ETB creatures...and that is a bad thing IMO, because the better these creatures become the archtypes that stop them keep getting worse and worse new cards.

Wotc just needs to stop pushing the power level of creatures and making everything a sorcery or instant with legs.
Honestly, would a 7 mana sorcery that read "destroy 3 target noncreature permanents, search your library for 3 forests and put them onto the battlefield tapped" ever see print? I sure wouldn't think so given what sorcery cards have seen print and how they are costed. If that wasn't enough, imagine if it also made a giant token with reach that puts a copy of the spell onto the stack everytime it gets blinked. Seriously, what were they thinking?
