Putting in an offer on a condo, so I may be joining the ranks of "responsible adults" on this forum. Nice enough location and unit, still horrifyingly expensive (but actually pretty reasonable by San Diego standards).
I am finally getting into playing some modern. Its actually been quite a bit of fun. The first week I showed up I showed up with a netdeck and there were like a ton of casual players so I felt bad comboing off with a netdeck on them. This last week I showed up with a custom allies deck and managed to go 3/1 against a bunch of netdecks somehow. I lost to GR tron but that was sort of expected in my mind. Next time I will probably try to show up with two decks and have an aggressive Blood Moon deck for if it looks like a lot of serious players are there and bring my allies again if it looks a little more casual.
Hey is anyone headed to GP Minneapolis this weekend? If so let me know I'd love to say hi!
Sorry to have not shown. Maybe I can make it up there sometime this year. Given that we are on like a year lock kick of RTRTR my buddy who was going to join me will probably want to make a GP limited if there is one during the ravnica stuff out there.
My rent is already more than a mortgage payment and likely to go up again if we stay in the current place, so I might as well build some equity while I'm at it. Saving for a down payment on a single family home in San Diego while paying rent is prohibitively expensive and I don't want to rent forever.
I have my first ripe ghost pepper, so it's time for chili! I am both excited and nervous.
Have fun! I picked up a couple spice grinders full of smoked ghost chilies a while back and I've been putting it on everything. It's great. Have a chili recipe you like, or do you just eyeball everything?

Accepted a counteroffer for barely more than our initial offer and a month long rent back to the current owner, so I'm about two weeks away from owning a condo (and about a month from moving in at that point, but it's a start).

So my state's tax free weekend is coming up and some of the items that are tax free make me go "wha?" :
Bridal apparel, sold
Bridal gowns and veils, sold
Lingerie
Nightgowns and night shirts
Clearly in the pocket of Big Wedding.
Seeing those items Vela the Night-clad popped in my mind. I am sick.
Congrats on the house, as a fellow home-owner it is both fascinating and tiring at the same time
That's a nice pull. Karn has turned out to be way better than I was expecting, mostly on the strength of the -2. I haven't tried it in EDH yet, though.
Finally got around to sorting the stacks of cards on my desk back into my cabinet. A solid three hours later, the next deck I build should be super easy to grab pieces for. Also the sad moment of fully disassembling my 4C Aluren legacy list, because that can for sure not function in a meta full of nonbasic hate without DRS. I'll give the BUG version a shot at some point, as it looks like it's still about as strong a contender as before. Plays a little more to the style of deck that I like anyways.

I ordered the cards for a budget jhoira deck. I'm now looking at getting a new bag to carry my stuff in. I currently have the bag of holding from thinkgeek, but it's too bulky IMO, what I currently carry is 4 soon to be 5 decks in the ultra pro 100+ deck boxes along with a small 60 card deck hold for tokens. a 1 and a 1/2 inch binder filled with cards and a playmat. I plan to get a new playmat and a tube for it soon.
So now we flood Airi's inbox with all of our great ideas on how to improve the site instead of cryo's?
Definitely.
Aside: what the he'll do they teach kids these days? I was getting my hair cut and the stylist next to me asked her client if New Hampshire was in Connecticut.
Managed to order the SDCC walkers when they went on sale online this morning, so I don't feel as bad about missing them at the con. Solid hour of sitting at a computer and hitting refresh, which is always a good time.

Nothing new. Back in high school, a bunch of kids from my school were in Chicago for an event featuring kids from schools from all over the midwest, and one of the local kids asked what state Iowa was in. Iowa, of course, is one of the states directly west of Illinois. Making it more ironic, this was an event for academic honors kids.

yes..well...I win by virtue of living in New Mexico
WOW. Still, I live in New Zealand, half of the world thinks we're in Middle Earth, the other half thinks we're attached to Australia.
