I know that I'm way behind the curve, but I've played quite a bit of Witcher 3 over the last month. It's deeper, richer, and frequently also more frustrating than Skyrim. My major criticism is that too frequently I feel like a spectator rather than a participant.

Yea it feels that way to me also. one thing to note when comprising to skyrim is that skyrim came out almost 7 years ago..

I think I mentioned early in the year my diagnosis with carpal tunnel syndrome. After months of trying different treatments, I am having carpal tunnel release surgery done tomorrow morning. I am both excited and nervous.

Best wishes on your surgery. Both my mom and mother in law had carpal tunnel surgery and the results were very good, if that makes you feel any better.

it had a special edition release which put it on the xbox one WITH mod support, whereas if you owned it and all of the DLC on pc, you got the special edition free. Fallout 4 is about to have a game of the year edition release as well.
Curious to see if I can post here using my phone. I've tried a ton of other methods to post and none of them are working
Edit - looks like I can.
On topic Edit - What do people think about the PW rules change? Are 5-color PW people excited about this?
I can read what you're posting, so good job?
PW rules change is interesting. Making them all legendary permanents definitely has some impact and ups their stock a little bit for some of my decks, mostly Boros decks where I was already interested in Thalia's Lancers. There's a fun interaction with Yomiji, Who Bars the Way and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar that I'll probably try and pull off in a very casual deck at some point. Removal of the uniqueness rule is pretty minor for EDH. The only place where it's actually likely to change my deckbuilding is number of Garruks in green decks. It might occasionally be relevant in game for a couple other walkers but most of them don't have more than 2 versions I regularly want to run anyways.
Outside of EDH, I grabbed a couple Liliana, the Last Hope. She seems a lot better if you don't have to give up Liliana of the Veil to include her. Also spent a little more than I should have to pick up a few RL cards I've been eyeing in light of the recent string of buyouts.

Glad I have at least one device that can post. None of the browsers on my desktop or laptop will allow me to log in.
What's being bought out now? Some guys from my group have recently decided to get out of collecting high dollar stuff and it's very strange to see them selling off RL cards.

Basically everything in Legends, Antiquities, and Arabian Nights. The last week or two have basically been one buyout after another. Bartel Runeaxe is probably the best example of the craziness. Two listings on TCGplayer as I type this, one for $40 and one for $240. Either a ton of new collectors decided they had to have a set of Legends right now and were willing to pay whatever it took, or someone didn't think this through and probably doesn't have an exit plan for their enormous stack of Bartel Runeaxe copies.
I figured the more recent RL stuff still had some time before someone took a crack at it given the enormous supply differences between 93/94 and a couple years later, but Corpse Dance saw a buyout today. Figured I would grab a bunch of Tempest/Urza's stuff I've been meaning to grab (finishing sets of Cursed Scroll, Intuition, Meditate, and Academy Rector, a 3rd Replenish, and a judge Morphling) before another speculator decided it was time to target those.

Some of the buyouts are very amateurish. While I recognize that all cards on the reserve list exist in finite amounts, there is still a demand factor that's often ignored. Nobody wants Bartel Runeaxe and relatively few want Corpse Dance. Combine that with the significantly larger print run for Tempest and I expect anyone speculating on cards in that set will be very disappointed. Italian Legends is also a huge factor in the overall print run of Legends cards. While someone may be able to move the needle on an unused card like Bartel in English, there are so many freaking Italian copies I can't imagine someone making any actual profit.

Once upon a time it was somewhat heavily played in Extended to repeatedly bring back creatures you could sac to it. Usually Bottle Gnomes since it made it very difficult for red decks to kill you.
Maybe I'm biased but it seems to me like the popularity of EDH is one of the biggest contributors to buyouts and speculation.
The recent buyouts all feel like copycats to me. People saw how well it worked for things like Moat and decided to target other RL cards with the same strategy, either ignoring that there's no market for North Star or planning on holding much longer than previous speculators did. Even if the cards drop back to close to their original prices, the rise of sites like mtgstocks using automated pricing metrics makes these pretty harmful.
I just read the insert from the draconic domination precon and I'm really upset that the only lore they could come up with for Intet, the Dreamer after all these years with is that she's smart. Just throwing that out there.
Hi. Two of my friends get all four new 2017 Commander Decks and persuade me to play with them and I was surprised how cool it is. All the time before I was thinking of it as a format for players to bad for competitive constructed/limited and I am personally big fan of a competitive magic. They are fairly new to the game and I was winning mostly by the skill and sometimes they were playing 2 against me so I am not afraid that I'll be winning all the time (politics is a awesome feature of edh, make it easier to level up a game). And they are rather going to upgrade their decks (they already did a bit).
Question is if I should go for a older official commander set or singles. How difficult it would be to make a cool budget deck (£50-100) with power level comparable to those new official 2017 with possibility to upgrade to have chance in a local shop?

Not to sound conceited, but you're asking the wrong question(or perhaps the right question in the wrong manner).
If your group is looking to win by T3, then you WILL have a very difficult time making a comparable deck with that budget. But if you all play politics frequently, or drag games out for funsies, you will have a LOT more leeway.
My sincerest suggestion would be(if you're looking to build a deck from the ground up) to pick a commander in the color(s) you like, with an ability that seems cool. From there, build the rest of your deck(either to complement or combo off of your commander). Not to knock buying precons, but I feel that's the purest and most satisfying part of EDH/Commander, is building your final product from the ground up.
Overall, my answer to you is: it'll be easier than you think. You're just going to have to dig in MTG's considerable history for alternative answers(for instance, instead of plopping down money on an ABUR Volcanic Island, why not just buy Shivan Reef and Sulfur Falls?).

Welcome to commander.
The question of if you should buy a precon or buy singles comes down to a variety of factors. The big two I would ask though is how good is your collection and how much of any of the precons do you want. Generally speaking if you have less collection and there is a commander from a precon that speaks to you go for it. If you are looking to play more competitive magic, usually buying singles is the direction to go. The hard part with buying singles is that you don't have a lot of experience with the format so you might have to move between cards a bit more finding what works.
Try not to arms race too fast. If you and your friends are all new to the format at the same time trying to build the best deck you can sometimes hinders their ability to have fun. There is a lot of depth to the format so my suggestion is to take things slow rather than trying to arms race to the best deck. Competative magic really is fun but its a very different thing from commander. Commander tends to be more fun when doing your own thing and finding sweet new interactions and deckbuilding.
If something looks super cool then play it. Commander is more about having fun with your deck and enjoying the experience if you ask me than actually winning. Sure, winning is great but if you have fun the whole game then who cares what the last minute of the game was.
So, I guess my answer is that it varies. Being new to the format makes it a little harder to buy singles generally. Buying precons can get you a good jumpstart but if the legends don't speak to you then I would not buy them. If you cant get precons at MSRP I also would not advise buying them.

Corpse Dance is awesome in EDH, but anyone who wants the effect in legacy is going to use Shallow Grave or Goryo's Vengeance, since they're cheaper and it doesn't matter if you can only reanimate 1 Griselbrand/Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
