Speaking of being wrong, it must be difficult to be the Rules Committee and be told you're wrong when you explain specifically why a card is banned.
It's weird.
Lately, I've been doing a lot of self reflection, and I've come to the realization that a lot of my political beliefs, beliefs about the way I think the world should and ought to be, would actually have a lot of negative repercussions if acted upon. That's a tough thing to reconcile. Like, I obviously believe the justifications I have for believing what I do are sound, but how can I honestly suggest that they're worth believing if they create more harm than good in practice? I think a lot of bickering regarding Commander's banned list probably resembles that.

The internet bickering about the EDH banlist has always made me extremely grateful that there's a single group that's handing down decisions from on high and willing to disregard most of what's said online. While I don't agree with every decision made, it would be so much worse if it was entirely in the internet community's hands.
I was just glancing at an old Alesha, Who Smiles at Death list I have on here and I'm not sure why I don't always have an Alesha deck. It's pretty much everything I like in one place.

Completely agree. Plus the banlist is made by people who play the format (and even had a hand in making it!) I definitely don't like all of their decisions, like their choice to eliminate tuck for commanders, but things could be far, far worse. In general I'm pretty okay with going with the flow. There are worse ways it could be run.
Thirding approval for most of the banlist/rules. DtDB makes some good points on his blog about the list, but for the most part, the list should stay as is. I also disagree with their elimination of tuck, and the 'banned as commander' list, but that's what house-rules are for.
I will say this, the removal of tuck has me brewing Rafiq ideas again. He was my second EDH commander I ever made, and I switched to Jenara pretty quickly after making him because he would always get tucked otherwise he would kill everyone, and I got tired of that. Now that he can't be tucked anymore... I think I might make him again. I always really liked him.
My local Target put the AER stuff on sale a day early. I don't usually buy sealed product but I figure why not since they goofed. Bought a fat pack. Haven't opened it yet but maybe I'll get lucky.

I didn't. Best pulls were a pair of Fatal Pushes, but I didn't get that one drop artifacts creature that you can sac to silence a player, so that was nice.

I got one at my prerelease too. Straight into Edric.
I heard Sheldon once say that they wanted to ban Storm Crow. Storm Crow had other plans and wanted to follow the Relentless Rats rule. The compromise was that Storm Crow would remain legal, and Sheldon would remain with unpecked eyes.
So, on Monday night I did something I'd never done or seen done in a Commander game... I used Deadeye Navigator to attack for lethal damage. I was running my Oona wizards & rogues deck and was up against Blue Braids and Zurgo. I'd managed to take Zurgo out with, of all things, Suffer the Past, but I was down to only a couple lives, while the Braids player was at 6 life. The only creature I had in play was a Glen Elendra Archmage with a persist counter on her. I'd had the Navigator in my hand for a long time, never casting him because I never drew into any good flicker targets all game, but then I topdecked Lightning Greaves, so I cast it and Deadeye, then attacked for lethal with Deadeye and the Archmage. Neither I, the other players or the couple people watching could recall ever seeing anyone use Deadeye to attack. Not exactly a "cool play," but certainly unusual.
Thank you for reminding that cards can be used for than just a generic combo. It's hard to remember that through all the noise.
Honestly, killing someone via combat with a Deadeye Navigator, of all things, makes me really think about finally building the sorta-voltron Riku deck I've been thinking about for a couple years. Riku wading into battle, made unblockable and empowered by doubling up various boost spells, hitting for lethal general damage.... that would be as far from the typical Riku deck as one can get, I think. Forget spell-slinger Riku... this would be spell-punch Riku!
Only problem is, I don't really want two decks with one general, and I rather like my current Riku deck, which I have crafted to have a nice balance between the critter-doubling and the spell-doubling shenanigans.

There was some discussion of voltron Riku in one of the old Riku threads. bobthefunny may have even thrown a list together at one point.
I've been wanting to play around with single shot pump spells in EDH for a while now. There have been a couple solid ones printed in the last couple years and Berserk's reprint makes it a lot more accessible. I was leaning towards someone partnered with Tana, the Bloodsower, either Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa to take advantage of instant speed or one of the black ones to get things like Hatred. I haven't actually followed through with it yet, but it's going to happen at some point. I've got a bunch of deck concepts that I just don't want to spend the time building right now.

I remember winning a few games back in the day with Wild Defiance and Whim of Volrath in Animar. I'm 100% sure bobthefunny does have a voltron spellslinger list somewhere in his old T&L thread, I know that's where I got the idea from.
Doesn't stop people as it is, don't let it stop you.
